EVE is about ganking, griefing, scamming, cheating, being an ass, etc, so yea. Sad, but true.
The AT is not about these things, and was never intended to be such! CCP can correct me if I'm wrong, CCP can, not the players.
And likewise, it is up to CCP to decide if any rules were broken, not the players. You lost all right to avoid an argument the second you posted on these forums.
Frankly, no rules were broken, so no disqualifications will be made. THat is CCP's stance on EVE Online, and that is why there are no bans for scammers, spies and pirates in this game. ----------

EVE is not about pansy tournaments and hopefully never will be.
Right, because getting to the final on skills and then blowing it off in one very boring 'aww you can win you is cute, you deserved it more then i do, lets not give people something fun to watch' way isn't pansy at all
You think it was easy for these two teams to make it into the final match the way they did. They still had to play their asses off. Besides this is not about you. It is about them. They put the effort and ISK out of their own pockets to get to where they did. You didn't. Take your wine and go find some cheese somewhere else. This is not the place for it. THIS IS EVE!

Originally by: Teala Te'Jir First, none of you paid a cent to watch the tournament. Second, this is EVE. In EVE anything can and will happen, never expect things to happen as you assume they should happen. EVE is not about being fair or about playing all nicey - nicey. Third, the tournament isn't about you the viewer, it is about teams that put up billions in ISK to participate. This is their tournament - not yours. Forth, you don't like how the tournament played out, put your money where your mouth is and get your own team into the tournament.
It was a great tournament and the teams that made it to the end worked their mouses off to get there. They still had to get through some very tough opponents to even get to the end. So congrats should be in order because these two teams managed to pull off an amazing ending to this tournament. I just hope next years tournament is as good as this one was.
You clearly watched another tournament i suppose

Yes actually.
This was... er, rude to the viewers, lacking a better word. It would only take very little effort to pretend a fight, or why not even just fight and then exchange rewards if it goes the wrong way, not like this was any different in effect.
Ofc fundamentally it's CCP who are to blame, it's their event and it's up to them to set the standards and enforce them. Disqualifying or penalizing in some other way would imo be the right thing to do if they intend to keep it at least superficially competitive, if they don't and you expected to see a proper competition just don't watch the next one and leave it at that. It is after all CCP's responsibility not yours or participants'.
I got to admit I was heavily disappointed with the whole thing, the anticlimatic finale really ruined the whole atmosphere but on the other hand if they do get away with it, props to them. I still wish I did something else with my time tho.

You are sponsors of an official event with a staged ending, which makes me and several other people really unhappy.
I will not buy any of your products again and will actively advise people to not buy your products until the gay***s of alliance tournament finalists get disqualified.
I know it wasn't your fault, but losing sponsors hurts.

Dear SIP.
Thank you for your feedback regarding the recent Eve Online Alliance Tournament. While we understand that you maybe upset by the outcome of this tournament, we are disappointed that you choose to direct your frustration at, us the event sponsors. We have no control over the outcome of the Eve Online Tournament, much like Carlsberg have no control over the outcome in the FA Cup or ESPN have over the outcome of the Superbowl. We suggest that you take your frustration to the appropriate organisation - CCP Games. As a company we would like point out that we have a very strong relationship with CCP Games and we will be working with them in the future. We understand that the gaming community that CCP Games have built up is of a niche market that many other mainstream games do not cater for. Your response to the recent Alliance Tournament and its outcome is a clear indicator that you are not part of the target niche CCP Games are marketing their MMO Eve Online toward. I would suggest that you take a look at other games on the market such as: Farmville. World Of Warcraft. Or possibly: Candy Machine Delux Game.
Again thank you for your feedback, it is appreciated we wish you the best in your future online gaming.

Essentially, Hydra Reloaded out-meta-gamed Pandemic Legion, and did the math to maneuver their BFFs, Outbreak, to the opposite side of the tourny bracket (such that they would not fight against each other until the finals). In the end, both Outbreak and Hydra Reloaded reached the final match. Outbreak initially wiped out Hydra reloaded, killing 2 out of 3 Vindicators without losing a single ship. They then allowed Hydra to kill them, with the last remaining Vindicator going so far as to killing his own team mate (the Oneiros) so that only the Vindicator was left standing. ----------

Yep thats probably the point everyone else is forgetting... TBH we all thought Pandemic Legion will win .. Well they didnt... not thanks to HYDRA and their brother in arms but thanks to DarkSide if i recall correctly ... So statement whole AT is just an joke somehow miss the truth as well as sense. Just saying. Unless you got only one ally signed in in several forms then AT is about the fight and win of the fittest.
Not to mention the sheer ammount of time each alliance commited to it.. be it spying networks, testing the different groups etc. As well as many other things... In the end luck roll is in place there too .. And by many of stupid comments here .. you wish that AT would become just some 4th class pub brawl.. aka rifters vs rifters. Get over yourself allready... Its not about you its about the people who commited the most precious resources in to this tournament... TIME.

For all you idiots that say this is part of Eve - you really need to think more.
Of course this is part of eve but in eve we have a tournament - (sporting event). The people who watched the sporting event are ****ed off because the last match (world cup or supper bowl) was fixed. As a fan do you think I have no right to be upset because hey it was fixed and we know this is how alliances (countries) work.
B. S.
The people that run the alliance tournament (ccp) had better change it or people are going to stop watching, betting and enjoying the tournament.

Originally by: Portmanteau Edited by: Portmanteau on 19/06/2011 22:24:01 fair enough, the two teams worked together to win the stuffz and there is no real rules to stop them, but then why should CCP bother making such a fuss by hyping it and putting pop ups in the game when all we are going to see is two teams giving each other a celebratory gobble.
next yrs pop up in game "quick, only five minutes to the CLIMAX of this yrs AT where we will see a group of in game bum chums toss each others salad"
Honestly CCP if you want to make an "attraction" out of this tournament, at least try to keep somewhat kosher :/
Actually CCP was taken by surprise it and I felt very sorry for them. (Did you see their faces when the match was over?) So many people spent so much time and effort to make a pretty damn good televised event watched by 30,000 people, put a pop up announcing the last match into the game, and then THAT happened and ruined it at the very last second. I just hope they know their hard work is appreciated.

I like how right after the match none of the commentators even touched the subject, or the match itself. They quickly switched to "other stuff". Me personally I don't mind, this is EVE at it's best/worst, but I'd rather have seen an actual brutal fight.

Who would watch if they didn't at least try hide it? Can you imagine the state Vancouver would be in if the Canucks just did circles on the ice? If you are going to exploit the format I think you need to be a little lot more covert with it.
