very well said, tbh im disgusted with this entire episode, i was one of the people so looking forward to "Incarna", but tbh im rather disgusted and disapointed in what CCP have done, and the way they did it, i feel like im being treated like an idiot and a cash cow, and seriously debaiting dropping some accounts unless they address some of our issues and concerns, starting with there outragious Vanity item prices and the option to turn CQ off.

I was pretty optimistic about CQ, but what really destroyed it for me was the absolute removal of any sense of scale. Go ahead, re-enable CQ, undock, redock. Look at your ship. Now jump into something waaaaay smaller/larger. Like from a frigate to a battleship. Look at your ship again. Surprise! It's the same size! That, or the hangar just magically grew/shrank. I'm sorry, but I'm not wasting my time/resources/money to make my ships feel even less real than they did before. I want my badass battleship to feel like a badass battleship, and my small agile frigate to feel like a small agile frigate. Yet, when I dock up... they're exactly the same.
Honestly, I'm not all that upset about the Aurum pricing. I was never interested in that crap, and find it slightly more amusing than I would have if they were "reasonably" priced. If people want to spend 70 bucks on a monocle, that's their decision.
EVE is first and foremost a game about internet spaceships. Incarna is an attempt to move beyond that, to make it a game about people flying internet spaceships. CQ does not accomplish that task. Until it does, anything that doesn't involve spaceships is useless fluff.
That being said, I absolutely LOVE the new turrets and the Maller. Hats (or maybe monocles?) off to the teams that did those.

CCP,
As a 5+ year customer of this game (for the moment) this post is the one the most closely aligns with my views and thoughts on this expansion and the s..t storm surrounding it. DO something about it or I will.
+1, sighed and all of that stuff.

Originally by: Ms Freak There is no-one moaning about the new super-sick Turrets, or the AWESOME new entry screen (the one with the maller). Why? Because they are GOOD they are just what EvE is about and that the players want.
Its been mentioned in other threads, but the turret icons are incomprehensible (compare them to rig icons). |

Issue 3 - I think you should also add that last year CCP Fallout said no microtransactions "whatsoever". Not only did he lie, but we know seem to be on the verge of pay to win items. How are we supposed to trust them when they seem hell bent on implementing something they promised would never happen?

We have a pen&paper RPG in Germany, +The Dark Eye½ (Das Schwarze Auge), which works as a mutual maintenance/caretaking of community-by-company and company-by-community in a way similar to Eve. The simulated world, compared to other Fantasy RPG's, displays (imho) an unrivalled richness which is due to the engagement and the contributions of the community, while the company (whose body corporate has changed over times while the core team has been more or less persisting) keeps a close contact to the community. And there's a similar tier of CSM as with Eve/CCP, which is channeling that communication.
Now Eurogamer has made an important point:
+The option to assume a Gordon Gecko mentality and capitalise further on EVE Online only exists because of the players. The sandbox that led to the stories that enthrall even non-players doesn't belong to CCP - it belongs to the community.½
This has already been pointed out in multiple posts of the Eve Community, but I feel compelled to pointedly add my own angle of view:
The whole thing boils down, as in the real world, to a question of good and legitimate government - Eve (and +The Dark Eye½ alike), as a mutual product of Company and Community, has been and could still be a model case of how Capitalism, while being about money, nevertheless builds upon information (Hayek's POV: markets are about processing information, primarily, and money is only a means to that). Undock from the flow of community information - and your business gets over the heads of the People, loses its contact to Reality, and finally produces its own legitimation crisis.
There used to be a lot of talk once (at least in Europe) about what +economic democracy½ could mean - here we have a practical working example: a Company that functions as the corporated heart of a Community to realize the visions of that community - which are, ideally, at least compatible with the visions of the Company's staff. Subscription fees are the taxes payed by the Community to keep its Government up and running - while they duly expect that this Government be Good and Legitimate and hence take care of the needs and aspirations of its People.
So, finally, the idea of legitimate government is not a metaphor her, it's the real thing - thus we may adopt the slogan that led to the Boston Tea Party of 1773: +No taxation without representation!½. For Eve is not only a game (and a virtual economy), but an example of real world economy as well, to which the Community is dedicating not only their money, but their irretrievable lifetime, too! So please, CCP, don't f**k with our lifetime - at least not with mine!

I've never really got involved with the politics side of EvE, and, didn't realise how interesting it is and how passionate people are about this game.
I may well throw my hat into the ring at the next CSM election to see if i can make a difference
Thanks.
