Edited by: Mr Ravenblade on 28/06/2011 00:49:43 I said I was going to, and I am now attempting to do so now that my affairs are in order and the people left behind have the things I wanted them to have.. sadly once logged into the account management page, I see no option to unsubscribe. I have spent the last few minutes looking, and I cant find it as it doesnt seem to exist.
I'm *this* close from calling my bank and just asking them to do a charge back, since CCP is not ALLOWING me to unsubscribe when and how I see fit, as required by the laws of my country.
Please note that this is not a "the option not rendering" scenerio; I'm software developer myself, so I have all the requisite debugging tools installed in my browser and in chrome, its even simply as all i have to do is right click examine element.. and both a search of the page code, the page loaded, and a fast jaunt through the loaded DOM gives nothing for being able to unsubscribe. I have confirmed this by copying the pages loaded DOM and saving them to a text file, and then manually confirming that no such "unsubscribe" link exists.
Needless to say, I am not happy about this and am wondering the following:
1. Is anybody else experiencing this issue? 2. Do we have any lawyers in the house?
If you are a lawyer and your willing to help me push this issue, please say so. - MRB |

LOL...No.
If you pay by Plex or GTC your account will automatically unsub when the prepaid time runs out.
We're not upset that you lied to us CCP, we're upset that from now on we can't believe you.

I have no such option for canceling on my menu.
I see a menu bar of options, and each of the items in each drop down menu have been checked, and not a single one of them says "cancel subscription". - MRB |

Do you see an end date on your subscription? "Account Expires", "account type" ?
My faith in CCP will return SoonÖ We'll watch what you do not what you say.

Sounds like you fixed your browser until it broke. The option is definitely there on MSI and Firefox with default settings.

How do you pay?
If you pay by recurring Paypal payment, you need to cancel the agreement from Paypal's side. Then when CCP try to take money the next time, they get rejected.
There is no way to cancel recurring Paypal subs on the EvE Account Manager site.

As I have already stated, I'm using a CC and NOT Paypal, Moneybooker, GTC, or any other method.
Additionally, I have stated keeping track of the code fo pages i check and cant find the unsubscribe button for.. I have copies in case anybody - like a court system - needs them later.
I'm also collecting network trace dumps to make sure I have additional forensic data to validate this lack of a unsubscribe button.

I use paypal too and was told by the CCP rep who answered my petition that they would shut it down.
Otherwise paypal is not considered a subscription.

Using Internet Explorer is not an option for me, and as a software developer I can say - and I'm willing to say it in court - that there is NO VALID REASON for a link in an otherwise functional menu to not show up in a browser unless they have code that makes it so as a way to keep people subscribed.
I'm not using GTC, I'm not paying with paypal. I'm paying via CC..
Any lawyers in the house?
Dude, get GTFO with this "woe is me" high and mighty act - take this to court and the FIRST thing they will say is "did you call customer support to cancel", and your dumbass will say "no". They will then laugh your ass out of the courtroom and then charge you for taking up their time.

Edited by: Mr Ravenblade on 28/06/2011 01:24:23 Ok I can now get a link, but it took some doing and I want to post this before i do it because I want to make sure it gets out there
Based on my tests, CCP actually does HIDE the unsubscribe link, and they seem to do it based on the USER AGENT of the browser that you are using from what data I can find in my tests, with a timeout so that once actived, it send the correct links to your ip no matter what browser you use It would not show AT ALL on the page when I used chrome, because the option was never sent to the page - the option really doesn't exist in the list so it never shows up - and then I logged out and then changed the user agent string that my browser sends to identify my browser to make it emulate "Internet Explorer".. BAM suddenly the option shows up.
I personally think this is intentional, to keep people who use chrome from canceling their subscriptions. Why? Because based on some marketing I read once when I worked in web marketing and my life deended on it, people that use IE are the poorest and least likely to buy things, while people who use chrome and other browsers are more likely to have extra money for things like - for example - a subscription to Eve they don't use. I see this as a stop-gap measure to annoy people who have extra money just enough that they "forget" to unsubscribe so CCP has a better and more stable income stream.
EDIT: Yes I know what it sounds like,. but this is eve, and CCP we are talking about here. Either way, I'm un-subbed.
