Problem is not that unsubscribing is too hard, the real problem is that subscribing is too easy. Threads like these have proven it in last few days.

Because based on some marketing I read once when I worked in web marketing and my life deended on it, people that use IE are the poorest and least likely to buy things, while people who use chrome and other browsers are more likely to have extra money for things like - for example - a subscription to Eve they don't use. I see this as a stop-gap measure to annoy people who have extra money just enough that they "forget" to unsubscribe so CCP has a better and more stable income stream.
Confirming that I use Chrome exclusively. Also confirming that I can see the cancel link with no problems. ~Gnosis~ |

The unsub link is there on 4 seperate accounts, 2 paid by CC, one by Paypal and one with ingame PLEX.
Safari, IE 9, Chrome, Firefox and Opera all show the link for all the accounts.
Windows 7 and Mac.

That's interesting. I get no unsub link but I assumed it was because all my accounts un on PLEX. Regardless of the OP's ranting there does seem to be some inconsistency in what people are seeing.

You speak truth, it appears to be that way. Different effects for different users. Cache maybe ? I have no answer.

To unsubscribe, you must have a subscription.
So if you use PLEX, or if you purchase monthly / three months / six months credits, you do not get a "cancel" option as you already have a time limit. When your credit runs out, your account is suspended.
If you ticked "automatically bill me" or whatever the exact wording is to request a rolling payment progamme, only THEN you will find a "cancel" option under the Game Time menu.
EVE used to have a generally more intelligent class of player, now it just seems to be a bunch of muppets shouting "this game's too hard" at every single thing. *sigh*
Yeah, what he said above really. I can at least confirm that I do not have an unsub button myself in IE or in Chrome but then I don't expect to be seeing one as I don't have a subscription (As I pay by non-reccuring paypal - just to be clear I intend to play for a while yet).
I imagine there is some code in the server that displays or not the button depending on the currently logged in accounts status (least thats how I would aim to code it).
I guess a little test would be to log in and then pull up https://secure.eveonline.com/CancelSubscription.aspx as this seems to be what the button will be pointing you to anyway, unsurprisingly I get "you have no active subscription" - if you get that also then you wont be seeing the unsubscribe button either.
I also fail to see how CCP would be deliberately pro or anti any specific browser, why would they?
Hee, out of all the people claiming to have unsubscribed I wonder how many will still be playing next month?
If your leaving though, can I have your stuff?

Based on my tests, CCP actually does HIDE the unsubscribe link, and they seem to do it based on the USER AGENT of the browser that you are using from what data I can find in my tests, with a timeout so that once actived, it send the correct links to your ip no matter what browser you use It would not show AT ALL on the page when I used chrome, because the option was never sent to the page - the option really doesn't exist in the list so it never shows up - and then I logged out and then changed the user agent string that my browser sends to identify my browser to make it emulate "Internet Explorer".. BAM suddenly the option shows up.
I personally think this is intentional, to keep people who use chrome from canceling their subscriptions. Why? Because based on some marketing I read once when I worked in web marketing and my life deended on it, people that use IE are the poorest and least likely to buy things, while people who use chrome and other browsers are more likely to have extra money for things like - for example - a subscription to Eve they don't use. EDIT: Yes I know what it sounds like,. but this is eve, and CCP we are talking about here. Either way, I'm un-subbed.
Mr Ravenblade this is my experience with unsubbing. In all browsers if you login to your account on the forum part of the eve-online Website you can view your account details (credit card payments the lot) but you cant unsubscribe. If you want to unsub you have to login via account management page of the Website. Its extremely strange how this work as its not very intuitive and leads to confusion. I honestly don't think its CCP trolling us though i think its more of a database/coding issue that CCP has overlooked or just cant be arsed fixing (to buisy with WoD & Dust).
About these protest CCP

If you pay by recurring Paypal payment, you need to cancel the agreement from Paypal's side. Then when CCP try to take money the next time, they get rejected.
There is no way to cancel recurring Paypal subs on the EvE Account Manager site.
Wrong. I pay using paypal and cancelled two accounts today in the Eve account management page.
I use paypal too and was told by the CCP rep who answered my petition that they would shut it down.
Otherwise paypal is not considered a subscription.

Hey buddy. I'm a maintenance guy for a building complex. But on Tuesday and Thursday evenings I am a lawyer. And I specialize in internet spaceships law. I've read a lot of wikipedia.
Because of all the issues surrounding CCP lately I'm offering my services for mere monacles as payment.

Buying a single thing isn't a subscription it's just a purchase. You don't get a lettuce every week just because you bought one this week, you don't need to ring up Tesco and "cancel" you lettuce purchase for next week that you haven't made yet (unless you sign up to Vegetables 'R' Us and that's just a scary train of thought going off right there...)

I have spent the last few minutes looking, and I cant find it as it doesnt seem to exist.
I'm *this* close from calling my bank and just asking them to do a charge back, since CCP is not ALLOWING me to unsubscribe when and how I see fit, as required by the laws of my country.
Please note that this is not a "the option not rendering" scenerio; I'm software developer myself, so I have all the requisite debugging tools installed in my browser and in chrome, its even simply as all i have to do is right click examine element.. and both a search of the page code, the page loaded, and a fast jaunt through the loaded DOM gives nothing for being able to unsubscribe. I have confirmed this by copying the pages loaded DOM and saving them to a text file, and then manually confirming that no such "unsubscribe" link exists.
Needless to say, I am not happy about this and am wondering the following:
1. Is anybody else experiencing this issue? 2. Do we have any lawyers in the house?
If you are a lawyer and your willing to help me push this issue, please say so.
1. It works fine in Chrome 2. If you a software developer, then your one of the "software developer" ****ing up the internet. I think more likely you fancy yourself a mid-night coder.
I hope you do get it worked out though so you can get on down the road.

However, some plex users are reporting that they do see it (see post 67 above).
