The ability to make up the difference in mining yeilds is in the hundreds of hours and you almost certainly almost get ganked before you make up the difference...

CCP could have given it a role bonus for fleet bonus if they were so determined to make it a supported barge, instead they turned it in to a 3 legged dog.

CONCORD is a reactionary force. They do not really have the capacity to protect people from harm. The best they can do is jam and kill a group of enemy ships before they kill you. Please understand, this is how CONCORD is intended to work. They only react to aggression, and CONCORD will not take any preventative measures to protect you.
You are correct that, because of the above mechanics, a group of people with the right tactics and amount of force can find a way to kill your ship. They can find a way to do this with a high degree of accuracy, while minimizing their losses. These tactics can be sustainable, and sometimes profitable. CONCORD is not capable of preventing this type of scenario, because that is not their purpose. There are little things that you can do to protect yourself, but you probably understand this already and found these solutions to be ineffective.
The ultimate problem is you have little control of your own fate in high security space. It rests within the hands of CONCORD, and they punish any sort of unsanctioned aggression, even if it's preemptively in defense. Some people are better equipped to take that punishment, and some opportunities are worth that punishment, which seems to include your Mackinaw.
If Han shot first in empire space, he would get concordokken'ed.
But what is the core of your complaint? Do you think these opportunities should not be allowed to exist, or is it a problem with not being able to counter them? Is there a problem with mining ice in lower security space where you can better protect yourself from threats? |
