Congratulations.
We were wondering how long it'd be before it was moved down and set-up. Of course it would have been nice to kill the freighter + outpost once it had gotten into 0.0, but ach well.

It's been a really steep hill to climb but the great teamwork and team spirit paid off.
Especially when you consider all the additional work required on top such as frieghters and the final mass hauling of the construction materials.
Not a easy task and all involved deserve a well earned slap on the back.

Whaaa? We're done? I'm done hauling? I don't have to mine any more? I don't have to tell people where to take things? I can stop making DDC hate me for forcing convoy duty on them? I can sleep now?
/me remains skeptical.
Amazing work guys. From the MO in empire, to the contributions in ISK to the three freighter ops, to the staggerinly successful final hauling...class-A teamwork.
In an unscheduled, unposted op, we managed to haul 4.3 million m3 over the 18 jumps to the egg in an astonishing 13.5 hours, MOSTLY during ASCN's "off" time! All the more amazing was the fact that this was acomplished inspite of attacks from PA and MC raiders and with the loss of only one hauler...to gate rats.

If anyone trys to take on the outpost they have to kill a handfull of Full military POSs first. By that time fleet will have organized to retaliate. ____________ Sex / Rank 9 / SP: 1280 of 2304000

The outpost is there pretty much forever. You can't blow it up. What you can do is take it over. In order to do so (and correct me if I am wrong), you must first destroy any POS's in the system that are claiming sovereignty. Once that is done you can set up your own POS and claim the system, then move to take over the Outpost and it becomes yours.
The **** thing about outposts is that they rely on the POS's in the system for their sole defense. You can't put guns around it or anything. In that respect, they are just as susceptible to being camped as a normal station anywhere else.
Yes, we knew about the operation. ItĘs our job to know. No, we did not make any special effort to interfere in ASCN's deployment of it outside of our normal scope of operations. Had we managed to stop it, sure that would have been pretty ugly for ASCN. However, such a thing is much more valuable in its finished state.
So, the bottom line is that whoever builds an Outpost puts forth all of this amazing effort, but then someone else could come along and take it all away from them. I doubt it will be us, at least not now, but any alliance who deploys one of these things is painting a giant bulls-eye on their space that shows an enemy exactly where they can do the most damage.
I think it's awesome because it gives players a real reason to fight and live in 0.0 and, as Cyvok surely knows, Outposts are just the tip of the iceberg to true 0.0 colonization. This is just the first step. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

umm...you didnt stop it because 1. you didnt know or 2. you did not have a fleet big enought to challenge the escort or the outpost fleet. the choice you gave: 3. "well we chose not to do anything" is laughable. You know this makes you guys look bad

You don't have to kill any POS claimining sovereingnty (I believe) all you have to do is claim sovereignty yourself. That can be done by deploying more POSs than anyone else in the system or by blowing up every other POS and placing only one. To that end these things act exactly like conquerable stations when they are deployed (I think anyway).
Congrats guys. VERY impressive feat to be sure. I just wonder if it can ever be worth it.

Yay them! err, US!
Seriously though, this was a major task, and I think it is more rewarding just to have a symbol of what a bunch of people working together can do, moreso than the import of the actual outpost. It may end up being a horrible investment, or something that never gets used due to the 30% vs 50% thing, but nevertheless, it is a great success. A logistic nightmare conquered, and a baby outpost egg defended from those who would destroy it, so it could become the achievement it now is. If nothing else, a gigantic victory for morale!
Great work ASCN!
(oh, and good fight MC, you have no idea how boring it is defending a baby outpost for 8 hours with no action... and you DONT want to know what people started doing after a while of no combat action, sitting there, waiting, and waiting, and waiting... lets just say some people start to lose their 'grip', and some ships will never be the same)

With all the cries of how MC should have interrupted this, why?
Surely it benefits all to actually have an outposts constructed. They take a different approach to claim them but overall it doesn't make sense to knock off the goose laying the golden egg. Easier (in a broad sense :) ) to knock off a couple of POS's then to drag out all those materials and organise it all.

It is not a flame, but as it is a discussion forum. Posting my opinion here. And there's no denying the fact that ASCN managed this feat while having the MC contract active. This is an important a feature of the story of the first EVE outpost.

That depends if the Haulers and Freighters were piloted by members of ACSN (the IGA) and not alot of hang arounds.
I think that we never will discover the truth about that.

To be completely fair to MC there wasn't a lot they could have done. We can outblob them by a pretty big margin and its not like the outpost came down piece by piece in afk haulers with no stabs. The outpost was going up and thats all there was to it ;)
Huge props to the MC pilots who came down last night. I was half asleep gurading the thing for 8 hours and then 6 or 7 red stars jumped in on top of us You caught most of us by surprise and we were lucky not to lose a BS. it made an already good night more exciting and I hope you guys had fun too.

For the record, nobody in the MC could be arsed to login at 5am en-masse and try to mount an offensive maneuver 40+ jumps away. Not only that, but it's blatantly obvious that no matter what kind of fleet we could have put up, we would have been blobbed 6x over.
To the alts and the chest-beaters: give it a rest... ASCN made history and everyone is happy for it. Don't taint the entire thing by getting in your childish jabs, ok?

I will say this I made 2 freighter runs from Empire with stuff for the outpost I am in no way in a alt corp. The other freighter with me was Piloted by another CLS Member so there goes that theory.......Once they left from Empire for ASCN Space, the Second Time they f;lew from Ascn Space to Empire and Back........
there goes the alt Corp Theory.....Now try again
Do even realise how long it takes a freighter to go 50+ Jumps? No I think not.

Latex, I never said anything about the hauling op in feyth. I was merely refuting the statement made by Recluse, who implied that we used SHOP to haul our materials outside the threat of MC. Shop is a separate entity from ASCN, although we do enjoy a friendship and a common interest in keeping Providence free of pirates and MC.

As a aside 4 mc showed up just before downtime at the outpost and got pwnednull
Ok, i dont wanna get smacky, i just wanna point a few things out to you
First, whether we knew or not is really irrelevant. If we had decided to try and stop you, it wouldnt have been for long because we arent contracted against ASCN forever.
Secondly, to assemble a fleet and then come down there would be pointless, as you would blob us 3-4 times over and there would be little we could do other than play with your blob for a while then go home bored to tears.
Thirdly, the "outpost fleet" was piloted by non-IGA corps, so we couldnt attack them in empire, flown at off peak hours, when we are at our weakest, and through hostile 0.0 (stain). Now this is mostly guess work, but i think its fairly obvious.
Fourthly, our little trip to 0.0 last night was in no way related to your little outpost going up. Our cov ops was sitting on top of your fleet for about 10minutes trying to figure out why you were all sitting at a planet before realising the little egg. We were bored already, so we decided to jump you and see what happened. Yes we died, no you didnt get our pods, no we didnt kill anything in the process. It was fun, the guys that were there said it was fun. It had nothing to do with the outpost really, its just it was the only blob on the map so we came to have a look
Fifthly, and finally, The MC is given a guideline by our client on what they want us to do. If we aint paid to stop you building outposts, then we aint gonna do it unless we feel like it. Now if someone had paid us to specifically stop you building this outpost and we had failed, you could call it a victory. But to try and twist this into some sort of great victory by ASCN over the MC is merely self dillusion.
Quote: As a aside 4 mc showed up just before downtime at the outpost and got pwned
4BS, 2 cruisers and 4 frigs versus 4 cruisers and 2 frigs. Is it any wonder we died? You really do need to think about what you post. I could talk about the many times we have "pwned" ASCN but tbh, you're not worth the time with an attitude like that. Atleast the guys that were actually there were friendly.

I already said this The Outpost freighters Were piloted by CLS Members from Empire to ASCN Space and Back to Empire and then Back to ASCN Space. Off peak? OK I don't think piloting the freighter at all times of the day,Getting up early, staying up late, taking a 4 hour nap is my peak times either but I did it, actually I was pretty delusional when we got there. Stain Space? do you mean Catch? doesn't stop you from coming down that way any other time whats so special this time?

The only point I have to disagree on eyeshadow is point 3, the one MT already addressed. We took the outpost, in freighters piloted by CLS members, down through our normal travel route through providence. We did not use non IGA members to transport the outpost, and we did not use any travel route other than our usual one. In fact, the first trip down was executed at MC's strong time, roughly 23:00 evetime. I am not trying to argue with any other point in yur post, just that one, as your conclusions are incorrect in that particular situation.

I don't know if you were saying that we helped haul for ASCN to avoid being killed by MC. If you are, we're happy to let you know that we didn't haul anything for it. We don't belong to ASCN neither IGA nor non-IGA. We're not an alt corp for ASCN and we really don't have anything to do with ASCN's activities other than shooting pirates in Providence. Any freighter/hauler fleet made it on ASCN's watch and as far as I know they went in IGA freighters. I could be wrong about that last part but that's what I understand.
If that wasnt your intention with the wave, then sorry for the sidebar.
Congrats to ASCN for putting up a nice little chunk of metal in the cold recesses of space!

Forgive me for commenting. But that is not true. We've had pilots of ours on each escort gang and all pilots flying the Freighters were IGA. Not that it matters if we're in the IGA or not considering your latest war declaration on us :P But that is besides the point.

Points.
1: This is the most important undertaking ASCN has ever ventured, MC Was right to believe they would have been outblobbed on it... Quite simply it would not be worth it for them to come down. There is no insult either way, they weren't cowardly to avoid it and we weren't overzealous to be defending it.
2: I took place on the escorts in and THROUGH empire. Keeping MC away from the high value goods was the MAIN thrust of ASCN's PVP Operations for a good while. We lost a good chunk of people because coverage was focused on the haulers. All in all we needed to make sacrifices to get this outpost built and MC was happy to Oblige. They provided an enormous challenge and I am proud that we met it. That is not smack, I respect them and what they can do (And what they did do) and their ability to "hurt" is one of the reasons why this is such an accomplishment.
3: This was visible, during the main hauling spree the route between our staging ground and the outpost was more visible on the map then Renyn.
4: We did not want to mention this, but as it appears the newspost mentioned it I will iterate that the construction platform is NOT to the best of our knowledge indestructable. If MC or our enemies wanted to, they could have cost ASCN close to 30 billion isk. That was what made us so terribly concerned.
5: MC Does not claim space, nor will it ever. It is safe to say that the history of inflicting 30 billion plus in damages in one fell swoop on a target would be far more worthwhile to them then an outpost down the road. We will not now nor ever rely on the goodwill of others when it comes to defending a thirty billion isk investment.

We had no plans to interfere. Any convo prior to this from anyone in your leadership could have confirmed this and you all could have been a bit more relaxed. Instead, your leaders have turned this war into some sort of personal issue, smack is constantly flooding local, there is no respect on the battlefield and no one is talking to anyone because there is this bizarre perception that somehow the MC 'betrayed' ASCN with this war.
You claim to respect our abilities, but it is implied over and over in this thread that somehow you "won" something over us. You state that even though we knew about it, your actions kept us at bay. Do you actually think that we weren't willing or able to land 30-40 clone-range battleships on top of the Freighter carrying that Outpost and lose every one of them in order to destroy it? Do you think it was fear that stopped us?
We figured it would be enough that you got it up and running, but no. As has been typical of this war, the chest-pounding has even come here. Consider the number of times we've had the opportunity to say, "OMGWTFASCNPWND!!" and haven't done it, yet your forums, corp and alliance chat is constantly spammed with some of the most absurd crap and outright lies about us and what's going on.
Quote: 5: MC Does not claim space, nor will it ever.
Then you know something that even we don't know. Chances are very good that as the game evolves we'll make a home for ourselves somewhere. Why people like you have the delusion that we lack both the will and the resources to do so never ceases to amaze me.
Quote: It is safe to say that the history of inflicting 30 billion plus in damages in one fell swoop on a target would be far more worthwhile to them then an outpost down the road.
To this I can only say one thing: it used to be that 30 million was a lot of money. Then 300 million was unimaginable. In another year or two, once corps are producing things like T2 battleships, that 30 billion may very well be a drop in the bucket. As with dropping several billion ISK on a T2 BPO, time will tell if the decision was the right one or not.
EDIT - I've kept my distance from this thread and am now out of it. ASCN's conduct in this thread and through the entire war has just really surprised me. -

Curious.........
If Ericka was sitting on top of us for 10 minutes then you obviously knew what ship types we had there and it was your choice to warp in and get killed, so as for the outnumbered and outgunned statement, it was all your decision to jump in on us.... Yes it was Fun, No we didn't go for Pod kills after all what damage could pods do to a Vunerable Outpost as it was building ?
As for the earlier comment regarding being out blobbed,....
Hmm no real way to put this easy, but you are at war with one of the largest Alliances in EvE and the largest corp, surely there will be large numbers on our side, you don't want a blob war take smaller contracts and have fun with your ganking tactics...
And as for all the funny comments regarding the OOC freighters,.........lol
Not True as I helped escort these freighters and everyone that was present (freighter pilots included) were all ASCN members. And correct me if I'm wrong but usually your hired to induce debt to targets? or cause greif ? well wouldn't ganking multiple freighters with Outpost parts qualify as such ?
I am by no means beating my chest, I participated in only 1 engagement vs. MC this contract, and that was in 5p-aip while defending the outpost, quite frankly your tactics and ganking style bore me to death and are too predictable. So you wont get a fight from me in game or on the boards. In summary all I am saying is if you can play the game with intel, then please get all your intel correct before posting on the forums. m'kay ? oh and Thx for the Gratz comments, the respect for our intensive labor is duely noted.

Zloba told me MC was gonna be hired for life from RA. Welcome tu cache boys. Don't speak english. F1,f2,f3...

Hmm no real way to put this easy, but you are at war with one of the largest Alliances in EvE and the largest corp, surely there will be large numbers on our side, you don't want a blob war take smaller contracts and have fun with your ganking tactics...
It's not a complaint actually, it's a statement. While it is part of our contracual obligation, blob sitting is just, well, . . . boring. We have multiple avenues of action against ASCN during this contract and we will follow each one as it is important at that time. As for your apparent displeasure towards "gank tactics" . . . ASCN does the same thing, so please get off your high horse on that one.
Quote: Not True as I helped escort these freighters and everyone that was present (freighter pilots included) were all ASCN members. And correct me if I'm wrong but usually your hired to induce debt to targets? or cause greif ? well wouldn't ganking multiple freighters with Outpost parts qualify as such ?
Just as a question, can you confirm if the freighters were piloted ALL of the way through empire space by ASCN IGA pilots or were the freighters moved into position by non-IGA/noob corp pilots prior to the move into 0.0 with escorts? And afterwards? Will they still be in ASCN corps?
*shrugs*
It's not really important, as both sides have said, the MC could and would have gone for the freighters in 0.0 if we had chose to. We had intel before the war dec had gone active of a large chunk of your outpost plans and had discused various engagement possibilities.
As we've said, congratulations on the outpost. You have made history in putting up the first outpost, the 30% Minmatar refinery. You indeed did it while at war with the MC, but the crowing about that is demeaning yourselves.

Have to comment on this...
Interesting way to slip in the "30% minmatar refinery" bit.
The exchanges between MC and ASCN are full of niceties and all, but then there are those "raisins" in every post. Makes me think of the way moms-in-law talk.

4: That news item was more than a little misspelled, and I do hope CCP's news team corrects it (if they haven't already)! As for the outpost, it will be completely invulnerable as long as the alliance owning the outpost claims sovreignty. If enough Starbases are put in a possition that sovreignty is not claimed for the solarsystem, the outpost will become vulnerable to anyone.
In other words Congratulations on your new outpost. You should be glad to know that it will take much less than two years for the outpost to pay itself back as it was not constructed for the taxation, but for the convenience and pleasure of your sovreign pilots. Mercenary Coaltion is still on our job, focused on the objectives set for us. We aren't out to get your assets, we are out to get you. --

Like Sel I've grown tired of some of the ASCN comments over the course of the contract, especially knowing what I know, and even my personal neutrality slips a bit at times. I'll edit it out the "30%" if it makes people more happy.
Personally I think ASCN have done well, but reading the various complaints about it being only 30% then the glorification here just rubbed me the wrong way when I was reading over the comments. My apologies, I'll try to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I would first like to thank everyone that has shown support to ASCN for this accomplishment!
I would then like to apologize for some of our more passionate members and their comments, but I can not blame them. They have every right to be proud of what they have accomplished.
Bottom line is this particular item is not just about ASCN, it's about EvE and what can be accomplished in our little universe. It doesnĘt matter if it was us or another organization, the deployment of an OP should be equally as exciting for everyone.
We may have our political differences but we should all be respectful of the accomplishment.
I am very proud of ASCN, we finished this project weeks ahead of schedule because of the incredible unity & team work everyone in ASCN brought to the table.
It was named after the ASCN member that put the most work into the project. I am rather sure I didn't spell his name wrong.....
The strip club is Amazing, the Quafe is spiked, and the view rocks! I haven't figured out how to program the marquee yet though, and part of the docking bay is being retrofitted for a bakery, we needs our cookies!

We can always use more, current (ab)use rate is rather high but that is probably because everything and everybody is rather new :) We pay excellently btw. - there seems to be a market for *cough* "girls of leisure" with a nack for authority *cough* Convo me in game and we will work out a sweet deal, a trial period is a must however.

Yeah, there have been so many members that have come through our doors, and then moved on to different paths. We're not quite what we used to be when it was the original handful that came to Eve. It really is incredible, the leadership changes, and all we've done and been through. I don't think anyone in CLS or even ASCN thinks of ourselves as a powerhouse in Eve by any means, we just keep on doing our thing, and having fun, setting new goals and acheiving them. Some of them, such as this outpost, may seem unreachable by other groups, but it's been a fun time putting it up and keeping everyone focused on the goals and tasks at hand. Now it's time to blow off some steam.
Good to see you're still around Klyde. And many other faces that have popped into this thread.

Congratulations To ASCN on the herculean effort you all put into creating your new outpost. When HDY won the right over many other Corporate powerhouses in Beta to build and create the first player-owned station, it was a logistical nightmare, as I remember, having only Punishers, Miner I's and Bestowers to haul with...I can only imagine how much harder it was to assemble your outpost.
Congrats and Major props to you and your team of logistics personnel who pulled off such a masterful feat.

Visitation has been closed to all, unless the honorary Feythabolis Emperor has given explicit permission. This week, it's TBone.
And there is a 2 girl minimum, so having only 1 simply will not be in keeping with ASCN's standards, and you could risk being podded.

I agree, Mods if you could please lock this topic, thank you.
FYI. Stain- Alliance has deployed 2 outposts. Oberon Corp put one up in Esoteria 1 day after CLS and STC placed one in Paragonsoul. Congrats to them also.

Funky.
Stop spamming. IBTL and IATL will get you a nice little message in your inbox. The cumulative effect of such... shall we say love notes? Is, that you get banned when you hit a magic number.
So, Click.

I have a little black book I use as backup in the event of Click. failure. So, its all good...really.
