Having read this thread about plague I then remembered this chronicle and thought it would be very cool to see disease in EVE, be it by chemicals, radiation or viral strains.
Affected people would be forced to take coping drugs till they could find a cure and there would all of a sudden be a new meaning for the SOE.
Pilots afflicted with the different conditions and diagnosed would have to sport a biohazard or radiation sign on the photo ID. This would be a great chance for lawabiding citizens to get a feeling for how it is to be running from the law, breaking quarantines and trafficing antidote to worlds and stations where the powers that be are denying the outbreak.
Not taking coping drugs or finding the antidote in a timeframe possibly decided by ones willpower means you die. Skills needed for obtaining the drugs would be relying on charisma, some use for those next to worthless attributes if nothing else.

i suposse everyone rolls around stations in pod's. doubt it. I like this idea if you enter some 0.0 out post you have a total curent user count / 8 % chance of catching the virus.
I think it would be great but after dying once you loose the virus .
You could add it to the medical tab , or make it another group on the market. would make illigal goods worth smuggling.

Edited by: Danton Marcellus on 23/09/2005 00:58:17 People afraid of it would keep their distance to infected players and places, whilst less caring individuals would dare these places in search of rare materials and loot to clean off, or not and sell on to the greater public.
I think it would add some real depth to EVE, you being scared of it is just proof of it being worthwhile itself.

U heard about the 'plauge' they had in WoW right?
Didn't work out so good.... it killed everyone... LOL

Anyways... this almost makes me WANT to play WOW.... not quite, but ALMOST.. if there was somethign similar in eve, it would add to the feeling you get when u warp into low sec space. Danger at every turn.. can be avoided, but it is danger just the same.

Edited by: Futher Bezluden on 24/09/2005 06:28:45 That someone defiled the eve forums with something as retarded as infecting character with aids like in WOW, then making them hunt down vials of +5 uber healing, should be grounds for immediate podding. Am I talking about Aids anywhere? There's no need for your WoW-hating on this thread, the online plague was probably the coolest thing to date in an MMO. It being unintentional and befalling WoW made it even more so.
Still the idea remains what it is, an appeal for depth in EVE with plagues, diseases, famines, contamination, all and any factors really that can and will 'cause a market flux, the primary focus being on disease...

I have a better idea along with the issue of the disease.
I would like to see NPCs in the game with the disease, planets ravaged by disease. Now if you're asking how this would affect you? For exmaple we could have super large drug shipments coming up on the market. News items poping up, etc.
But please, whatever you do, do not make it like the "plague" in everquest II a few months ago, for the love of god don't.

How do you inspect your loot once the mission is over ? It does get moved from space into your cargo hold and from there into your items bin in a base.
From that you could theoretically introduce and epidemic to the base in its entirety. TotensBurntCorpse Likes EVE, Starfleet Command Series, Earth & Beyond, Anything Battlefield, MOHAA, Call of Duty.

My understanding is that due to the surgery needed for the POD-interface the capsuleers live inside the PODs. Then make enough to re-create themselves outside and live (wealthy) and happily ever after.
But this idea of FORCING things on unsuspecting players is not good, IMO.
Having Consumer Goods/Medical Supplies/<whatever> and different markets for them is OK, though.

I like the idea !! sounds like I'm the only one tho maybe because I've no clue what/ how it happened in WoW/ EQ/ whatever... Of course we should have ways to avoid it carefully, and several ways to try to resist against the disease - medical trade goods, contraband goods, sikrits/ pirate cures, medical facilities; agent offers, long-term research... damn, I'm looking for a way which would not be strictly the usual and boring "PVE"-type content (btw, medical goods without any use for players, just as trading goods as they are, is quite ridiculous) Anything that gives "life" to our characters (that is, human weaknesses) would be great... and if we could be infected/ cured through interactions with other players, even better... I can't see how it would actually work, but still. And yes, it would "force" player into something - OMG, something would *happen* in the universe, *forcing* us to do something else than grinding missions for hours

Actually EQ2 did the plague before WoW. And that had the result of many players stopppign their accounts until the event was over. But that does explain why WoW stole the idea, they like to take failed experiments and fail in a even greater fashion.
EQ2 plague....it sucked, you character rturned green and vomitted etc. Even though it wasn't supposed to interfere with normal combat it did, it made you lose attack rounds. Slowly they removed the animations and effects one by one, until they finally removed it all early.
Now considering how many UBRS runs you had to do to get the generals blood i can only imagine how often peopel would be running the instance that infected players in WoW. Lack of fore thought for the lose...

I like the idea, but I don't see why disease would be more likely to crop up in a 0.0 base with few people around. More likely you would find a disease in a densely populated region like Rens. And you can bet your ass that if I get infected in my 0.0 home I'll spread it there to see what happens.
What's that? Concord kill people who've caught diseases? So, I have a random chance of acquiring something in a 0.0 station, which will kill me if I can't afford the 50 million isk price of the antidote (seriously, if the only people who want your product are going to die otherwise then you can quite easily charge the cost of all their implants for it), and while infected I can't go into empire to obtain the antidote in the first place?
I don't think you've thought this through very well.

Although Rens would be a bad place to be in once infected it would also be high on the quarantine list and more likely to have developed antidote.
Backwater systems with less political clout however may have to suffer the effects longer.

What you are talking about sounds like a decent idea to me. You wouldn't necessarily have to have a permanent game feature based around disease, but an ongoing series of events spanning a long-running storyline arc would be great. Of course, in light of this thread/dev blog even something like that probably isn't going to happen anytime soon.

first of all don't even compare it to the WoW disease. that was a mistake. not to mention it had no "cure", and only spread uncontrollably because it could latch on to NPCs who couldnt die of it, therefore creating perfect disease hosts, not to mention the fact tat if you afflicted with it you could die in under 10 seconds...
so please, if you're going to argue against diseases find a better argument than the disease in WoW. using WoW's disease as an example is der-der-derrrrrrrrrrr

Who is arguing against diseases and second why not use the only example I knew of to get across that it can be done and should be a factor in a persistant immersive world such as EVE.
I don't see why I should have to declare my opinions of WoW at the door for this idea to be validated. I never said 'let's copy WoW and make the exact same thing happen in EVE!' Cram some reading comprehension skills into that head of yours.

Instead of a biological disease, perhaps a computer virus would be more appropriate to Eve; affecting the functions of your ship rather than causing you to die (and so lose your implants).
Having said that, I'd prefer not to see either one.
Please let Eve continue to be about grand space battles rather than trying to turn it into sim-"life, the universe and everything".
If you want another random chance of death and destruction, how about introducing some random marauding bands of Jove (in the same vein as the "Reavers" in the TV series "Firefly"). I at least would appreciate a more tangible threat that I can shoot at (rather than some insidious and invisible threat).
Plagues limited to planetary populations, however, may be interesting to the extent that it may influence supply and demand in the market and ISD events (eg. mercy convoys of indies carrying medical supplies; which are then potentially subject to pirate attack).

Ok that was a nonsensical response, why bother with a post if you're not going to post why you're against it and what does the idea have to do with you being online playing EVE?
Adding purpose to you being on playing other than adding to the isk stockpile or getting that next ship would increase the immersion. Quests to save people from disease and if that's not tickling your conscience at least saving yourself from temporary setbacks such as death.

I personally love this idea. The thing that I find is missing the most in Eve is the existance of a higher Gorverning Body. Of actually being apart of your Government's Navy.
Yeah sure we can have corporations, and alliances, but there is only so much a corporation can do. I personally would love to be a reservist, or active duty in the Caldari Navy, and get called up for emergencies of the state and report to a duty station to fight tangible bands of rats who are besieging a station. Instead of warping in, docking, hi Mr. Agent, oh the bad guys are over here? Okay let me go kill them real quick. Or actually have a use for the Blockade Runners... run planetary blockades and get relief supplies to ground troops or civilians.
It would be simply awesome to have wars break out between the Caldari/Gallente, or the Amarr/Minmatar. At the heart would be biological diseases planted by spies or some such. With large military advanced from different sides taking and besieging solarsystems and planets. Wherein players can bolster the ranks of NPC navies, or loyal corporations could lead daring attacks against them. And plagues could play a very nice role inside this.
As plagues combined with wars could be a great way of removing the immense core system populations and forcing people to leave. With Gallente able to freely attack Caldari and vice versa, you'd have deep range thrusts aimed at mining and traders who are hiding deep behind the front lines. Self sustained raiding parties who operate to disrupt trade and wreak havoc. Especially with Titans and Carriers being added to the fleets, you could literally move some 200+ ships deep into Gallente space and operate as trade disruptors, or sneak through the lines and warp in from the rear during a pitched battle for a planet.
I'd leave the devs here to plot out the details of it all, but certain missions where you have to get medical supplies/plague cures to a planet before the Navy decides to nuke the place sterile to prevent it from spreading certainly sound appealing to me. It should be a very very tough mission, with a really nice reward if you manage to do it in time.
I really think wars between the 4 factions, with politics, sieges... even if we don't ever land on the planets, just breaking the siege would be cool. Or running supply mission for the siege ships, or keeping the Orbital bombardment stations/magnetic rock throwers secure from sallies and attempts to break the siege. Just... something other than mining, PvP, and mission whoring, while they do have diverse parts... they kinda do get boring. Letting players into National politics would really spice things up imnsho. One mistake with UO they made was getting rid of the Seers, who gave players the opportunities to perform quests, get special rewards, and do something other than craft bows, or farm Earth elementals. Eve, like UO, is a diverse and very open ended place... but once you've established yourself... there isn't much you can't do... and I think that's a mistake, there should be alot more in this game that is near to impossible, that have heavy prices and dire stakes. Running a Gallente blockade and helping to free a Caldari planet could earn you a commission in the Caldari Navy as a rear-admiral or some such, with the option of commanding a Navy Raven, or Navy Scorpion that is built and crewed by the Caldari State, where you're given a duty station and orders, and after a time(If you accept) you're freed from the duty station and get to keep the ship.(If you survived)
Just an idea I had after reading through this all.

Ideas for increasing the immersion to stretch beyond that of the 'who is on the billboards and how is he doing on them killboards?' is good.
I'm sure there will be a market from where you can buy the cures from those who go about finding them for those who want to keep things simple but at least give the rest of us up for the challenge a chance at greater immersion and gameplay depth.

While I think that a microbial disease may introduce some new challenges into Eve I have to agree with Kithnaras that you spend your entire life in the pod. The plausable reason that CCP give is due to cloning limitations as without the pod the cloning process may fail.
Refer to the Scientific Article on "The Capsule and The Clone" specifically refer to the cloning section which says: Originally by: Cloning All the equipment needs to do is detect a breach in the pod, because û as every cadet has hammered into his head from the moment he starts training û pod breach, without exception, spells doom for the person inside. Therefore, the instant the egg begins to break, two things happen: the wire-cap on the pilotÆs head injects an instantly lethal nanotoxin into his bloodstream and the scanner sends its piercing light into his skull. Scarce seconds later, he begins the muddy climb towards consciousness in a new body, light years away.
Now while I think that it may be an interesting idea, CCP would need to change the Backstory (or alter current story) in order for this to affect pod-pilots. |

The evidence you cite relates only to "pod breach". Intentional disembarkation within a controlled, station environment is not pod breach.
For the record, I think the idea has potential both in gameplay and roleplay terms.
Incidentally, any pilots concerned enough about losing their expensive implants to a viral infection will surely be sensible enough to keep a good stock of anti-viral agents in their hangars, I'm sure you'll agree.

As far as I have understood the concept of a pod, is that it is a one time decision to become a Pod pilot. Your are litteraly engulfed in a liquid with hoses and wires connecting you to life support and ship controls.
I think there is a reason why we can't land and walk on planets, it is simply out of reach for a Pod pilot.
I don't think that it is so easy to just dissconnect from the Pod, and get out and walk.
But then again, that is just how I imagine after reading the story and Science about pod pilots.

"The auto-control eased the ship into a berth, fastening it with a loud clank and a low hiss.
The camera drone had entered the ship when it docked and only the infrared sensors were available to Gaspar to get a picture of his surroundings in the few moments it took the berth crane to lift the capsule from the ship. Gaspar always hated these moments, he relied heavily on his camera drone to get a sense of his whereabouts and with it gone he always became uncomfortably aware of the sticky goo and the blackness enveloping him in the capsule. But this discomfort was offset by the anticipation that in a few minutes heÆd be free of the confines of the capsule and his senses would again be allowed to feel and function normally.
Gaspar washed himself clean in the neat little shower box adjacent to the disembarkation room. Then he dressed himself, putting on clothes he kept in the small storage box in his capsule." (Catch Of The Day)

Danton i think you need to let the idea develop itself. You putting a post in every 2 posts makes it seem like your trying to force the idea onto people.
I dont like the idea of pod pilots being infected. and as for them getting in and out of the pod, when your in a capsuler station dont you think it would be the cleanest place ever? With pilots coming out of sterile closed pod's and going back in you would thinkthe whole station would be sterile.
As for planetry interactions? this is where you should be able to catch the plague/disese/aids whatever . If you put a nice reqard to balance the risk of visiting planets im sure people will take it.
it would require infected partys to become *sterile* again before they were allowed near a station. eg once you got the disese you can only live on planets until you have been cured as the pod pilot community will not allow you to spread the epidemic.
also a (length of life in eve X 2% chance of death) would be good with a dialoge appearing at one week before your death saying " the doctors have analysed your condtion and have estimated that you have 7 days to live"

I'm merely providing energy for the disease to grow, you mutate or carry it.

A timer on discarded loot making it accessible to all and added to that an outside risk of the loot carrying a disease of some sort would make looting more interesting.
After all loot after shot down ships carry with them corpses or parts thereof of the crew, if you can look beyond the actual can and see you salvaging from a wreck.

As for pilots leaving their pods, this is covered in the Jovian Wetgrave.
Disease wise, there are two ways of looking at this, it can be an event like the appearance of NPC Rats in belts, or part of the Cosmos issue.. ie, why did these ancient races die out? Alternatively, it could be an area affect, taking the news sory about a viral agent being released on a planet, if it were not contained, it could escape to space with refugees or by another accident. Although, ships do have crews, so a disease might not affect the pilot, but could reduce the effectivness of his modules and repair ability.

Ok this is really easy.
Best you dont forget that odd noises you heard through the metal walls of your pod when undocking from Kisogo station.
Yes - it was what you think now. Mutated pets that ran rampant boarded the ship and start to spread throughout it now. Its good taht you're sitting in that pod, but then again..wouldnt it be nice to get out and clean out that ship of yours with a shotgun ?
Pity, you cannot. So I guess you are having a problem now. Let us hope they dont multiply too much and start crawling over your display unit or affect your shield systems or *gasp* your warp computer.
They are, after all, quite intelligent it turns out - toying with this or that because the eletric sparks look so nice.
Ooops- I think that was your navigational computer - bye bye autopilot.
Shall I go on ?
Ok - you dont believe this - dig that:
"Another rogue drone dead, well done again" you think. They didnt put much of a fight today even, just took a hell long to kill all of them as they very closely hovered around the ship. Odd really. You drop out of warp near Pator station to drop off all your fine loot.
*clank* Uh--whats that ? *clankbonk* Oh damn--25 % of the armor plates just detached themselves from the ship and start forming a drone. WTF ?
...to be continued ;)

This idea makes sense to me, and I think it could prove to be quite useful. Lets make it such that, diseases break out in only the most populated areas (Think about it, in school, you got sick, from other kids, cause you all had to come together and spend 7 hours breathing each others air. now, the same thing happens at work) I propose that people docking at a station in Rens or Jita (or any other system with a constant population above 150) run the risk of contracting a disease. This will cause people to move out, relocate for the sake of their health. and when the systems population decreases, the risk for disease will drop.
So the question is asked: "How do you stay well, or combat the sickness?" We already have medical supplies and various drugs in the "Trade goods" that could be used to fight and cure the sickness. I think a very important factor here, should be that once you've contracted an illness, and gotten over it your imune to that specific illness, (just like how our RL immune systems work) If you just like spending time in rens, then perhaps we could have an "Innoculation" tab in the medical station services. A player could only get one innoculation per set time (a few day, a week, whatever) and just like the medical industry today, they would cost money. One final idea, is the samples of DNA that are present in the game with no real use. There could be a tab in medical services for infusing a DNA sample with ones own, these DNA samples could have inherent immunity to some, most, or almost all of the diseases. --- (On a side note, the DNA could also come with an increase in attributes, or skill boosts, in the same manner of implants, except that applying DNA would be irreversible and would be passed to all clones)

I d like to keep on proposing the other variant- infestation of the ship (essentially that one is "you")
To avoid certain kinds of spreading you can use modules.
E.g. in my aforementioned short brainstorming about the rampant pets on a station boarding the ship can be countered with the bulkhead module.
You forget to fit one before entering Jita station ? Fine, you have guests now ;)
The same goes for a rogue drone infection that would tranform parts of your ship to form new drones. You can maybe think up a fitting mod that ll help you avoid that
With imagination, the possibilites are endless.
If anyone is worried, make it so that things like this only happen in systems with security of 0.4 - 0.0
That way infected ships "can be taken care of" by other players - har har

I like your idea about the ship becoming infested, but thats no where near where the OP was going with this thing. If you want to develop this idea further, don't you think it'd be better served being in a thread of it's own? One key problem quoted above though, is the part about ships only becoming infested in 0.4-0.0. There is a drastic need to encourage people to move out of the 1.0 and 0.9 systems, this isn't gonna help the situation.
As for the topic of the OP, a biological disease affecting the pilot, As stated before, could be twofold beneficial. This could be used to Encourage players to move out into lower sec space, and it would provide an actual use for alot of dead trade goods.

I recall reading - probably in the scientific article about pods - that PCs are in fact severely immunodepressed as a side-effect of the cloning technology. This would be one of the reasons for which only PCs can enjoy this virtual immortality - they live most of their lives in a sterile pod. Anyone else would die of infections.
However, PCs don't spend all of their lives within a pod. Cfr Hands of a Killer, the protagonist is sitting at a table while speaking.
So the idea is plausible, RP-wise.
As for gameplay, I don't know. Where would you catch a disease anyway? Certainly not while in a ship, and the station interface doesn't lend itself to figuring out when you are not in a ship. -------------------- This solution to BM-related server resource usage can reduce lag with the same interface. |

The infection would board the ship with the cargo, loot from high risk complexes or purchased goods in infected stations and from there spread to infect the pilot once he comes into contact with his crew or handles his goods in station, hell even visiting an agent he handed the goods to and thus infecting.
All in all it has the makings of a very dark future.

Disease for pod pilots ... hmm, that's interesting. Pod piloting was invented in the relatively recent past wasn't it? Maybe some of the first of us are starting to get OLD, or spending that much time in a pod does unanticipated things to the mind and body. For example, after you've pumped some god awful number of skill points into your brain, you need some rare drug to keep from going insane or turning into a pod zombie.

I think if something like this was going to be done it would have to ship based diseases. Anyone who armor tanks has a hell of lot of nanobots running around in their ship, whereas anyone who shield tanks has a lot of software monitoring them. New weapons could be introduced that transmit computer and nano viruses that affect these two systems, and potentially move from ship to ship under certain circumstances.

And profiteering abounds as the cure is bought up by unscrupulous corporations. I say no way to fatal diseases as ebil folks could run around the Uni & Academy stations constantly infecting new players.
The occasional "cold" picked up from an archeological site or whatever might be manageable. No permanent damage from it, just a temporary standings hit, since anything more severe like attribute or ship nerfs would get all kinds of flak.
Making sure the disease only passes from player to player would be essential to keep stations from becoming permanent disease vectors.

How they transmit could be different depending on what you got.
A ship hailing another claiming they had a fever on board that knocked everyone out and were in need of towing may get shot down as the hailed ship figured it had some deadly flu on it and would spread this to any nearby station or planet, hoping for significant rewards from station owners or planetdwellers could be back his claim with proof later on. Or he could tow the vessel after negotiating a salvage fee with the ailing captain.
Not knowing from the start what you've contracted without proper training would be half the thrill.

This idea has a lot of potential actually. People just need stop assessing it in the light of other MMO's. EVE IS NOT LIKE AND WILL LIKELY NEVER BE LIKE "THE OTHERS". 3 years of a unique mmo gameplay alternative should have clued people into that, but then, many people in this thread are clueless. Those showing a lack of faith in this idea based on implementations of something similar in other games just have a lack of faith in CCP really, saying "They'd screw it up just like [x] did".
Anyways, I personally like the idea of some kind of digital virus that affects your ship, as opposed to your body. I feel it leaves more room for how one would acquire and spread the disease, as well as cultivate, use and market it.
One thing that could be developed, is viruses as weapons. Corporations could become research power blocs of a far more sinister kind than we have, they wouldn't be wanting to cash those Research Points on blueprints, but on lethal and highly-contagious virus strands that can be modified (given time, effort and significant resources) to affect only a localized area or particular group of people.
Making the viruses "digital" as opposed to "organic" leaves that door open further for exploration. If it's something closer to a computer virus than a biological one, then there's more scope for "intelligent diseases" (That for example, are localized to a single system, or that will only attach themselves to a particular alliance) and hence, their uses on a totally new and intriguing type of battlefield.
Nice idea Danton, ignore the fools, it is actually an intriguing concept.

Oh I thought you were talking about risk of catching something while flying around in space or something silly like that. You meant while walking around in the station? Okay that makes sense. Except that there isn't really any reason for pod pilots to leave their pods. They can do everyone within their pod and currently there isn't even a way to get out of your pod alive. If there was implemented a way to walk around stations and stuff, then I could see this happening, and would be very interesting, as long as it didn't happen to often.

Point wasn't to show people they had to roleplay hiring thousands of crewmembers, they could easily outsource this.
Point was to show people wasn't doomed to a meaningless life in goo once a podpilot, they still have lives and can go planetside, throw partys in stations or whatnot, they don't do this rolling around in goo inside a pod.
What is the purpose of the ID photo, why not merrily painted easterpods for all?
Fact of the matter, once docked for an extended period of time pilots leave their pods for R&R.

Eh no, where did I say that? I said that there could be a number of diseases you could catch that would make the gameplay deeper and more intricate with people going on quests to find cures, pirates laying blockades trying to prevent cures being distributed without them getting a cut and so on and forth. No-one has mentioned mutations.

It's impossible for you or me to escape from that nasty pod which you hate so much. That's just the way it is. Diseases aren't going to magically drills holes through the hull of your pod and infect you. I listed a few ways of getting diseases that would make sense though. But unlike you I'm not going to repeat myself, so you'll have to scroll up and read.

Originally by: Danton Marcellus The infection would board the ship with the cargo, loot from high risk complexes or purchased goods in infected stations and from there spread to infect the pilot once he comes into contact with his crew or handles his goods in station, hell even visiting an agent he handed the goods to and thus infecting.
All in all it has the makings of a very dark future.
You know that you forget a very important factor here. Sterilization it works on every bacteria, virus and is lethal. All one has to do is to sterilize something and the chance of anything getting infected from a bacteria or virus on it becomes almost zero. And in a hi tech world Eve is, this sterilization must be a standard procedure. So plague and diseases can only be applied to planets and pod pilots who neglect to follow the standard procedures. In fact the whole idea of sterilization has been ommited from the chronicles but it is something that must and should take place. And that process goes to your loots too, allthough there another option is availiable. Remote monitoring via CCTV which is something that could ensure that your hangar is yours and yours only. Anyway that said the idea has some potential. Not in the extend you present it though. In space everything is controlled air, food you name it. In a station the air is being circulated by A/C systems and filtered so that it can be clean and refreshed and used again. The food and all that are also checked again. Try to think in a hi tech world where medication/precaution is developed to a bigger extend than life on Earth not like a medieval life.

this is brilliant... so, all the killjoy wannabe pirate types will go out, get their alts infected, and sit in as many populated stations as possible killing off as many other players as possible for the heck of it. Absolutely brilliant.
I kind of like Eve where it allows choices and consequences. Not consequences for no good reason at all. You're suggesting a game of Russian Roullette that we all have to play and no one wins. How exactly is that fun?

Originally by: Danton Marcellus Having read this thread about plague I then remembered this chronicle and thought it would be very cool to see disease in EVE, be it by chemicals, radiation or viral strains.
Personally I don't play games I stop enjoying. Catching some plague/virus/disease that screws my characters stats (possibly off-lining equipment because of the knock on effect) sounds like:
a. Not Fun, b. A pain to code, c. Did I say... not fun already?
The only bit I liked was that the drugs would be relying on charisma.. the stat that currently gimps my character. Then again.. a nasty virus might reduce your charisma....
Hate the idea.
.... and.. don't give the devs ideas like this or they will make it a requirement to keep feeding your crew before you undock or other annoying things that serve no purpose but **** you off... like skills that reduce over time if you don't keep re-reading skill books etc.
'I'm sorry captain. The engineering officers won't on-line the warp core until they've received 150m3 of Beer and an Exotic Dancer. We're going to have to slow boat 15 systems to get them.'
or
'Station Control refuse to accept your docking request as you're crew are reporting the presence of a dangerous virus'
WTF.. I'm being shot at.. let me dock you b*****ards.
/pop
'Station Control accept your docking request. After all you're in a pod and don't have the virus. Pitty about your BS's 15,000 crew. Oh well. Better carry anti-virals next time'

You're without a doubt the stupidest troll I've come across, if you have no vision then by all means step the hell out of this forum. You can go on thinking you roll around in an egg all day long, I sure as hell don't, I don't think many with an active imagination, or one period, does either.
I never once said anything about messing with peoples attributes, their performance under the influence of the diseases or conditions sure but never the attributes as such, why are people reading this into the thread? This isn't a 'permadeath would be great' proclamation.
Avoiding people self-destructing is a whole other issue, I'm all for self-destructing coming with an increased risk of skillpoints loss, to hamper the tactics of strategical suicide.
Wanting games you play to be simple and easy without elements that aren't fun to deal with maybe Yatzy is the game for you? Then again you have to decide what to scratch there, the horror...

It's 5 am here and I didn't read the entire thread so this may have already been mentioned, but disease as a pod pilot is eaily escapable with no drugs. Just have someone blow you up and pod you, or simply jump clones if you have 'em. Disease cured.

Honestly, I'm already occupied enough in this game as a Mithril Inc director without a disease interrupting me and forcing me to run all over the eve universe in the search for a cure... Totally irrelevan teasing of players...
It would only force people to do things they wouldn't otherwise want to do, enable pirates to camp the places where cure is found. People with ISK to bump up the antidote/medicine prices sucking the money out of unfortunate people and scammers to feast on desperate people...
Interesting idea in itself but for gameplay, that would suck so hard!

people should get diseases from frozen corpses in space if they scoop them ;) (this works around the "all air sealed problem")
so for all you pirate necrophiles out there, dont forget to take your meds.... http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a134/undergrounder69/siggieartv5.jpg signature removed (max size 24000 bytes) - please email us (with the signature URL) if you want to know why - Pirlouit([email protected]) |
