Edited by: Morning Maniac on 04/10/2005 23:32:38 For over 18 months we at EVE University have been trying to help new players. We are not tied to any corp or alliance and we do not aim to make any profit out of it.
Today the nice people at Concord delivered this mail to us: "2005.10.04 03:02:00 Huff Technologies has declared war on Eve University. After 24 hours fighting can legally occur between those involved."
Now I know that Eve is a lot about pvp, and a level playing field I don't mind, good practice I'd say. However, Huff Technologies consists mostly of seasoned pvp veterans.
Let me not play the 100% saint here by stating their possible motivation. For the first time in history EVE University had declared war on a corp called "Ore-B-Gone", a one man corp of an ore thief local to our area. You decide if that was a right decision or not, we judged it was.
Now what I ask is your support, we need help, there is no other way to put it. Any help is welcomed; intelligence, firepower, whatever.
Finally I want to state that this will not stop us from doing our work, we will continue and we will not abandon our corp.

This is a good opportunity to educate your members in wartime survival.
I'd suggest talking with Huff in order to establish a collaboration that might maximise that experience, but I'm not sure how receptive they would be. ------------------------------------------- Sometimes, I wake up but keep on dreaming. |

hmm this should be interesting, I was just considering applying to the Eve University corp tonight. This should add more fun hehe.
Sucks that they are griefing newbs though, thats pretty cowardly of Huff to do.

wonder why they declared on you, war is suppose to be fun not chasing day old players around?

Its not even a challenge. A player who can barely put guns on a rifter vs. experienced pvpers? Wartime survival will pretty much mean hide or dock. I know skillpoints aren't everything, but in this case, there's going to be a huge gap. I can't imagine what Huff's motivation would be other than to simply inflate their egos at the expense of young players.
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. |

Thank you for all your suggestions. Obviously we try to do our best and use it to learn from. Learn to adapt is the first rule of eve so that's what we will do.

Well, they don't exactly look like the kind of outfit that would give a ****e about fighting new players (corp motto: "Enter our belt, leave in your mother******* pod").
It seems you have upset one of their griefing ore thief alts. Good for you. If they go after your younger players and those players decide they'd rather go play WoW than sit in station avoiding these guys, CCP might take a look at the system to make abitrary war declarations like this a bit more difficult.

Its been awhile since Ive seen any Huff out there so Im not sure who is in charge, but if its the old timers, I would have expected more of them.
Their motivation might be to teach your guys how to defend themselfs, but the sp and experiance gap is too big. It will sadly be a die or hide type of thing.

Heh its a risk of eve no one can be completly safe and tbh u look like easy pickings wich means lotsa kills and a change of good loot to our pirates. Hence "Pirates" no one says they want a challange jusyt kills and loot.

Is this all HUFF can take on a training corp? Extremely lame tbh, but, bleh. If you cant take on PvPers i guess you have to pick on new players ---------------

Phalanx Elite are at your side.
Ill war dec them tonight, and move a squad near your HQ.
Just help us a bit with ship losses if you can, and i will bring a few friends into this.

Can't see them getting much in the way of good loot from new characters tbh. Unless you really need to add to your vast collection of Damage Controls.
Can't really see the motivation for the war dec. Cheap, easy kills are worthless anyway - they won't fill that gnawing emptiness inside...

Lol, your velator blob will definately help our battleships if they include webbers/scramblers/and ofc tracking disruptors (especially #3)

Edited by: Nev Clavain on 05/10/2005 00:12:29 My first suggestion would be to pick a system where you wish to make your stand. If you publicise the location enough I am sure you will attract the casual adventurer from far and wide, as well as younger corps looking for pvp without waging a full-on war themselves. Just a few ships here and there to add to your blob gang can add new tactics and options as well as much needed firepower.
The downside is it makes you easy to attack, but if you can turn this into a crusade, you might find things turn out in your favour :D

Note to community: Any support would be appreciated by not only Phalanx, but the Eve University as well. Wardecking a carebear corp with money (for ransom) is one thing, but these are players trying to get on their feet and actually learn the game.
There are some members in corp who can actually help quite a bit with a few months skills, and combining forces will yield much needed firepower for such a conflict.

Maybe they did.
Who knows? Who care? Who dares to wonder?

Actually, thinking about it, don't Huff have a few wars around there? Maybe one of your members took the loot from a kill? ______________________________________________

Good Luck to you MM/EvE-U (this isn't the first time you've been here guys I seem to remember and prolly won't be the last). Shame really as it does indeed cost eve new players (know this first hand). Not saying war is bad - because we all know it's not but maybe some "exempt" corps? eve-u's a valuable niche filler, providing the experience CCP can't really do and just seems a shame is all.

Huff dont got alt ore theives, we support ore theivery and our mains do it proudly. We declared war on Eve U because their corp flag was sexy as hell and it turned me on. Also, I've always wanted to see if I can tank 80 velators and ibises at once.
No one in eve is doesn't deserve to die. This is payback for all of the ore theives u've grieffffed over the past year! Ha! There's a solid excuse!

What a load of BS declaring war on a training corp. Can't say wanting to tank 80 velators is a good excuse. Eve-U, if needed I would like to offer my services in helping with defenses. Every gun helps, ey?
