Good Morning Gentlemen.
Today we will be training on the Caldari Manticore. This state of the art stealth bomber is capable of sneaking across enemy lines and engaging ships much larger than itself.
A product of the Lai Dai corporation, this bird is capable of carrying and launching torpedoes, weaponry designed for much larger battleships. In addition, in the hands of extremely skilled pilots, she is capable of firing torpedoes from a much greater distance than any standard battleship could ever hope to. These are it's strength.
However, due it's highly specialized nature, it has some major drawbacks: namely, it is very fragile, as any properly fitted Manticore will not have much room for defensive modules, and because it is designed to go after battleships and battlecruisers, it performs very poorly against frigate and cruiser class vessels.
You must be aware of these weaknesses and use your stealth to dictate when and where to strike. It is advisable to keep range on battleships, however should it become necessary to point and hold a target, it is advisable to carry sensor dampeners to slow the battleships lock time. This works well in a group, but be advised only one dampener may allow a battleship to eventually gaine lock, and at point range you may become susceptible to drone attack.
It is also advisable to carry target painters on board, this will allow you to effectively engage cruisers and battlecruisers by increasing their signature radius and making it easier for torpedoes to land. Be aware some cruisers use weaponry that is very effective against frigates, be cautious when engaging.
Finally, avoid engaging enemy frigates at all costs. Unless you are trained to launch bombs, and you know the enemy frigate has engaged his microwarp drives and is in range, do not decloak and fire! Torpedo weaponry performs too poorly on its own, even with target painters, and a frigate class vessel will chew a stealth bomber up.
In the upcoming days we will continue to train in tier 1 vessels while you learn more about the stealth bomber class. Don't forget to brush up on support skills in addition to your stealth bomber training. Once you are in the Manticore, the brass will begin sending you across enemy lines, straight into the heart of the Goonwaffe.
I don't think I need to tell you how dangerous this is, but I will remind you the fate of the free world may very well rest in your hands.
Dismissed. |

Why are you using Manticores, that have a kinetic damage bonus that is also what rats in goonland shoot? (And therefore, what their carebears will be well tanked against).
You should be in anything but a manticore. Personal recommendation is purifier for that glorious em hole on all shield ships. |

Good point. I just like the Manticore on looks, but Arch is correct. Goonbears will be fitted to defend against Guristas, they will have strong kinetic/thermal tanks. |

Really want to hit them where it hurts? Find their buy hubs, find their fits, and stop selling those modules. Make them go elsewhere to get PvP fits, or make them pay higher prices. Goonswarm is going to war because their funds are drying up, so make them dry up faster.
Of course, I don't have anything against Goonswarm themselves. |

I see people want to "ship up" to SBs and black ops.
Getting new players to go for advanced hulls for nullsec PVP early one is a good thing.
The reasons are simple.
First, getting them to PVP is good for them and for the game. Certainly there are other things to do like exploration but you get PVP with the exploration if you are not careful OR you hate the minigame so much you wait for the explorer to finish it then take his stuff.
Second, a lot of new players suffer from the "bigger is better" mentality in the ship size progression. They usually go for the battleship or battle cruiser without a good amount of experience with smaller craft. Thus they move to bigger racks with more slots and don't know what to do with them. They also don't learn the appreciation for taking a smaller hull and getting as much out of it as you can.
Meanwhile, as for highsec attacking nullsec, why not? Certainly it's not the way the present status quo would like it. Let's think of this for a moment: all of that complaining about highsec is usually couched in "it should just be a noob starter zone".
Using high sec to stage a war from is probably the biggest way to insult the gate campers and feudalistic nullsec overlords. Everything that is wrong with highsec, as they put it, brought to bear against them in a manner of war is likely to grind a lot of gears. NPC stations with production, Concord, the list can be long on this one.
But.... this IS indeed a sandbox, no?
I have no hatred of nullsec though. It's just space, but there are a lot of people who complain endlessly about highsec. There are those who are forthcoming in their gripe and respected. They outright say they want to violence your boat and take your stuff. They, at the least, are not in highsec playing aggro-fu and station games. But the vast majority of the complainers, those who are not being truthful, have some beef with highsec that ranges from hating it as being the only place they can get ISK to nullsec not being everything they thought it was, but won't come to terms with that.
So many who have been to nullsec bought into the lie that it's the end game or you can get PVP there and so they go, and find things are not what they seem, and this is due to... other players. And this is not in the manner that they would fail to accept that this is an MMO. I think everybody gets that part, but that loss due to drama and petty crap eventually wears people down.
Also the expectations are beyond what a lot of people have. Are they failing? Why should they care?
If highsec was to wage a non-state 4th generation styled war on nullsec, what would be the effects of that?
I think it would be a good thing in the long run. First, you get players, especially new ones, into PVP and this game is all about PVP (sorry, it is - and my stats should show I am not Mr PVP here). Anything to break people out of this mindset of ISK-obsession and trying to "play house" with glimmer ships and the whole nine yards of carebeardom. Seriously. What became of highsec incursions is shameful, for example.
It would also be a path to get more people to nullsec because the war would not really be that effective on nullsec, given the hardware required to actually invade and keep it. The real destruction would be to what I call "The Great Wall of Carebear". New players who make forays into nullsec early on in life to attack it will breath new life into it. I like to point out there are carebears on BOTH sides of that wall. Well, if carbears are so horrible, then let them suffer on both sides of it.
I know that a lot of players would disagree, but I ask, how could the PVPers be against this? How could anybody already out there in nullsec now be against this?
Is it because this is not happening on... YOUR terms?
If that is the case, then consider it deeply for THIS is what I hope to see the player base at war against.

day 6
good day at the carebear fleet, yesterday I had the chance to fly with 2 experienced stealth bomber pilots, they teached me their wartactics and how to move around in null sec save, slowely we pushed forward into goonspace gathering intel of each area, but nobody was there, it seems they burried themeselfes deep down in their cave, it was so quiet and peaceful I even parked my starship in space to have a nap for the night :)
Now Im stuck in a dream called real life and need to do some boring stuff infront of a tool called excel, but I hope I wake up soon and be again in my starship fighting goons... to be continued :)

I mean look at his ambition and his ship fits. Why would a Goon go to all the trouble?

I would not put it past the goons to start some kind of program like this that keeps their own membership from becoming complacent and "bearish".
But I think the general idea is sound: get new players to roam nullsec looking for fights. If the paradigm of "you have to grind and skill for a while before you go" can be broken, a good time will be had by everybody.
I realized last night I can fit a cyno but don't know how to use it. Gotta go back to school... |
