Originally by: Micro Miner I'm confused. I am about to join a corp in a 0.0 alliance that has an outpost with medical service. Let's say I am in empire and I setup my clone contract to be in the outpost remotely (from empire), and then do the old fashioned clone jump (self-destruct).
Now I am in the outpost, and assuming they sort out my standings I can create a jump clone. So I buy a jump clone and after that I setup my clone contract to be in an empire station and do the old fashioned clone jump again.
Now I am back in empire with a jump clone in 0.0 outpost, so I buy a load of implants and plug them in. Can I then activate the jump clone (thats in 0.0 outpost) and then appear in 0.0 outpost (without the implants) ? Then if what I read is correct I will have a jump clone in the empire station I was just in ? And if I move my clone contract to another outpost in 0.0 (or empire or whereever) and buy another jump clone in the original outpost, I can then activate jump clone(s) to move from 0.0 to empire and back every 24 hours (if I wanted to) ?
I think you are totally mixing things up. As people before me have already said: Clones as a skill point safety measure have absolutely nothing to do with jump clones.
If killing yourself is your preferred way of traveling, well do as you wish. But there is an easier way as you can move your jump clone around, let it dock wherever you want - just as your main ... it in fact IS your main, the other one is the jumpclone for then. You don't have to install jump clones for every clone jump you do ... you can switch between them every 24 hours and they all stay the same. Think of it like that: your "soul" is moving between hulls (jump clones). The clone you activate when dying also saves a copy of your soul - that's why you have to update it now and then - and you cannot use it unless you die bec. otherwise there would be two souls in one hull.
I hope I didn't annoy anyone with my "soul-story", but I couldn't find a better word for my explanation.

Bear with me here I'm trying to wrap my head around something here.
Ok lets say I made a jump clone, and for arguments sake let's say it's in 0.0. I jump into this jump clone so it now becomes "me" and the old "me" is now my jump clone. In 24 hours I could jump back if I wished, yadda yadda. I think I've got that down.
Now for a few definitions. We'll call the jump clone in empire Me1, and the jump clone in 0.0 Me2. So currently I'm inhabiting Me2, and Me1 is my jump clone at the moment. Now I get podded while in Me2 and my regular clone (the skillpoint saver) gets activated.
Now what happens if I jump back into Me1? Does the activated clone become the new target jump clone (Me2), or does it just dissappear and I have to make a new jump clone?

When you get podded in Me2, you arise in your "normal" clone, in the station it was set.
So if you were in 0.0 and your "normal" clone is in empire, You wake up in empire.
To get the jumppoint back, you'd have to travel back to 0.0 and jump back to empire in order to set the jumppoint again in 0.0
This is why I advise players to set the normal clone in the station where you jumped to.
So, yes , when you jump from Me2 to Me1, Me2 becomes a jumppoint.
I hope i make any sense

Edited by: Lefia on 15/03/2006 12:05:21 Actually I didn't care so much about where the normal clone was set. I mostly wanted to know the following.
If I get podded in Me2 and wake up in the normal clone, then jump back to Me1... Is there a new Me2 left behind when I jump to Me1, or do I need to buy a new jump clone?
Edit: Nevermind I think you actally did answer this question I just read it weird. If you did answer it then your answer was "Yes you do leave behind a Me2 even after you're podded." This correct?

Can anyone confirm that you can have 2 jumpclones with different implant sets, and hop back and forth without losing the implants?

So if you have a jump clone in empire that has all your attribute implants and you are based in 0.0 in an implantless soul/body, do you normally switch to the implant body to train a skill and then switch back 24 hours later ?

don't know if i undesrtood your question correctly ... you have to stop training skills when jumping - you can start training again after the jump - but you always train with the attributes of your current body (with/out implants) i assume if you want a training to be quicker, you would take the implants-body - but that is up to you

Ok i understand you can only create a JC in certain places.
So once you have created your JC and start using it, you can basically jump between any two systems?

You can jump between the bodys - no matter where they are located. No cloning facility needed, no special standing needed.

Ok I have 8.04 standing with Brutor Tribe (connections 3 raises me from 7.78) and I'm in the newb corp but can't get a jump clone in their stations. I made a 1 man corp but that didn't work either.
Does the standing have to be real standing and not effective standing?

I ran a few more missions and got my "real" standing with Brutor Tribe to 8.03 and soon as I did, Jump Clone was installed without a hitch. So it seems jump clones only use your REAL standing not effective standings.

Ok
I have just goten frustrated reading posts here that are asking the same question without any understanding.
so here is my try at an explination of this in simple english.
Jump clones are for instant travel to a far off place where you created the jump clone ONLY. You are transporting only the contents of your mind, no sunglasses no shoes, no IMPLANTS. You will not wake up in a jump clone if you are podded. The body that you leave when you send your mind across the universe to inhabit a different body, becomes a jump clone. If you want implants in your jump clone, jump to the clone, install new set of implants, wait 24 hours and jump to original body.
Jump clones are for jumping around, normal clones are for resurection.

Thats what the confirmation box reads when you try to jump to a jump clone residing at the same station you are.
Are You Sure ?
[notify] None - Are you sure you want to proceed with the clone jump? The process of doing so will result in the destruction of the existing clone you have installed here given that your current body will replace it.
Yes No
Upon selecting Yes the installed jump clone really gets destroyed .... and you are unable to perform another clone jump for 24 hours. So the effect equals to using the Destroy option but it also prevents you from further jumping. Dou you folks think it is really a WAD ?

If your corp's standing with a particular npc corporation is 8.0+ AND your own personal standing is zero (ie you have never run a mission for that npc corporation), then you can piggyback on the corp standing to get a jump clone.
As soon as you do even one mission for that npc corporation, it then takes notice of your personal standing with them, so you'd need to get that up to 8.0+ too.
This has been confirmed by my own corp getting 8.0+ standing with 2 npc corps. Other corp members can freely set up a jump clone with these corporations, as we have asked them to specifically not do missions for them, thus avoiding this particular problem. _____________________

I can't install a jump clone at my station. I have a point 8.11 standings with CAS, after skills are taken into account, yet they won't let me install a clone because they 'don't like me'. I'm in the CAS NPC corp as well.
With those details laid out, what is wrong?

As stated a few posts up, you cant take skills into account, you need 8.0 with no skill modifiers.

Well you might be able to get back to a standing that lets you piggyback. I'm not sure if it works and it has the potential to destroy your entire corps standing; but you could try intentionally failing a mission or two to see if you get back to 0.00 standing. Not sure if it would work, but it could be worth a shot. If you go negative you'd do a mission, if you go posive fail one. I'd use a level 1 really low quality agent (Level 1 Q-20 being the optimal for this experiment). The only thing you have to look out for is making that agent hate you too much . In any event every time to do one of the "adjustments" check the corp standing makup to see if you disappear off the list. If you vanish off the list then you've been successful.
Would be nice to know if this indeed works.

given the type of value that the standing is (I assume a double precision floating point number) I would think that it would be nigh on impossible to get it to revert it back to *exactly* 0.000000000. you might be able to get it to 0.00000001 which would probably show up on your standings as 0.0, but it still wouldn't be true 0.0.
anyway, there's no way from an RP point of view that I'd ever attempt an experiment like that

I had assumed a much lower degree of certainty (0.0000). But you're right floating point makes more sense from an ease programming point of view. Odds are that indeed such an endevour would be fruitless.

i've just used a jump clone and i've ended up with no implants, i've tried to petition on the ingame site but it asks me to setup an account or summat and when i try to complete it, it doesnt accept,
I've lost almost 500mill of implants, mainly the reason i created a jump clone is so not to lose implants in lowsec exploration.
any ideas on how to use the petition system please help

Ok I'm trying to figure out what exactly you're trying to ask, so I'm going to answer the question as best as possible.
When you create a jump clone you must be present at the station (I think you got that, not sure). However, if you wanted to move that jump clone to 0.0 space you would have to first jump into the clone you want moved, then take a ship (or a pod I guess) with that clone and eventually dock at the station you want that clone to reside. You can then jump back into your original body and you will now have a target clone in the station you moved it to. You do not get an invincible pod to fly around in.
So basically, you cannot create clones in 0.0 without risking being podded. You can't create them remotely, and you don't get an invincible transportation device. If you want a clone there, you either have to fly there in your primary body and create them, or you have to jump into the clone in sec space and fly them out there. So you either have to risk getting your primary body podded, or your jump clone podded.
Hope that answers the question.
