Why drag the entire EVE population into some psychopathic hunger for chaos? Why can't the ones who like to do it, do it. The ones who aren't interested as their interests lie elsewhere NOT do it?
The great unsaid...honestly answer that. Why?

Let's not forget to add minigames to npcing, mission running and also pvp, weeeeeeeeee! Fun times ahead for all!
Infact, let's just take a page out of one of those Perfect World games and have everyone get 5 daily free spins on a lucky wheel, either you win an average amount of ore, a lot of ore, or you win an entire built ship. Win win!
I only mine because it doesn't require my full attention, if I wanted to play harder, I would dualbox missions instead.
Ah so basically you want free ISK without playing the game... I see.
Answer is NO........
Mission running is meant to be more profitable because its more risky, this is something that needs to be addressed and probably can easily be addressed by making the bots use closer to sleeper AI. Mission running vs bots IS a mini-game of it's own.
But, you shouldn't be able to make loads of ISK while AFK (excepting of course if its just delayed ISK from time spent previously, aka reaction POSes e.t.c.)
As for market traders been 'risk-less', not really, they risk any money they invest in the market, doesn't take much for a particular goods to drop below the price they paid for it.
I can't really comment too much on the industry side other than that it seems to require quite a lot of time vs the effort put in, so I don't really have a problem with it been safe.
BTW, I've got billions of ISK, not rich in EvE scale but enough to keep me in sub-caps for a long while and every single ISK of that I've made while ACTIVE and at my keyboard. Not trying to get freebies while spanking my monkey like other people seem to want to do. If you aren't enjoying your ISK making activity, find one you do. There are plenty of ways to do it out there. -The sword is only as sharp as the one who wields it! Other names: Drenzul (WoT, WoW, Lineage 2, WarH, BloodBowl, BSG, SC2 and lots more)-á |

Fully insured Domi. Check. Tank. Check. Aggro. Check. Drones. Check. Go watch TV. Dualbox means you got 2 domis doing it.
A miner on veld makes 3-5/hr and risks 200m. A domi can make 20m/hr. and would lose maybe 20m if ganked - which they can't be without serious alpha or numbers to do it.
And passive income? pffft.... 0.0 alliances have moons pulling billion upon billions per month. Risky? If it's deep inside the alliance, even if a massive fleet came and SBU'd the system, broke the POS and stole the moon, his chance of keeping that moon are pretty damn small without a massive invasion to back it up. See any major alliances fighting lately? Nope. They're in highsec beating up miners making less than 3m an hour.
What about all the PI done in 0.0? Hundreds of millions of passive income.
What about datacores? I make 90m every 2 weeks doing NOTHING with a couple of alts.
So as a Hulk pilot, I am scum of the universe because I make 3-5/hr. Yessir, kill 'em all. Greedy pigs all.

This is an example of the devaluation of ISK that may be most damaging to this game. Billions of ISK.....but it's apparently not rich by EVE standards.
It tends to make for a throwaway culture. And it causes a huge gulf between those with it...and those trying to get it. It's also a creepy analogy for the real world.

Never fly a ship that you can't afford to lose.
If you have 100m, fly frigates and cruisers. A few billion isk? Fly well fit battleships. Keep doing this and there's no reason to give a **** about losing a ship.
If you have 300 million isk and you're flying a ship worth 200 mil, you're doing it wrong. |

Not really, its not that many people who can afford to buy 30 command ships and not really even wince at the cost. I'm probably in the top 5-10% of wealth in the game, but I started with nothing the same as everyone else. I made 5 billion in under a week because I used my brain. Its not hard. I'm not going to tell you how I did it however, but its there for everyone and easily possible for everyone over about 6 months old. -The sword is only as sharp as the one who wields it! Buying plex for RL and selling 'em? You can do that in an hour.
I've been playing 3 years with 7 chars. I've done WH's, 0.0, had mulitple POS's doing multi billion isk BPO's, missioning with 3 x 40m SP chars, marketing with capital investment in the 10's of billions and I have NEVER made that kind of money.
So unless it's using market bots or 0.0 bots you didn't come close.
I can state I pulled 6b last week dumping my accumulated assets because I am stuck for something to do. But I sure as hell don't make it every week, that's for sure.

He means highsec missioners and incursion runners. Whilst in some degree I reckon they have as much "right" to the isk as say a miner, the fact that they can, whilst miners are being blasted, is flawed.
The game is often quoted as "risk v reward" - in highsec it's so badly slanted one way it's ludicrous in the extreme.

Actually, maintaining market orders for 3-4 hours a day can reasonably net you quite a bit more than 0.0 plex running. |

But even at 100m/hr (approx. double plex coinage) you're still only going to make maybe 3b in 7 days - and you cannot make a single mistake - ever. And no-one ever takes you on in the market either 'ey?
The margins are so small that sometimes you'd be lucky to make 2% at major hubs. Can't be anywhere else because you wouldn't get the volume trade to make it work.
Some simple maths shows staggering portions of investment required to achieve anywhere near 178m+/hr (7 days at 4 hours) to make 5b in a week. Staggering amounts.
My call on this stands.

But I'll be ****** if I have to sit and do all the crap neccessary to avoid death so somebody else can get their cheap thrills. The money I earn doing the mining paid for my efforts in lowsec ops and trying to move forward in the game.
As it is for soooo many people in Eve. THEIR style of gameplay, casual mining for low rewards, is being affected.
Considering your terrible stream of kneejerk anti-Goonswarm posts, I wanted to let you know that I felt a warm glow of pleasure to finally have this confession from you. Your frustration - which we have caused - almost makes up for the bad threads you make.
EVE is a game about 'affecting the gameplay' of other players. That's literally the entire point of EVE. Miners impact gameplay by producing goods which are then sold and turned into warships, or fueling those warships. We impact gameplay by murdering them for it.
The delusions of the the 'peaceful' cud-chewing miner have really been on display during the Interdiction. One of their most naive arguments is championed by our dear Apostle: they don't 'impact gameplay' and are victims, as if EVE was a game where markets exist in a vacuum and are not an extension of strategic warfare and PvP.
I've often wondered why you seem so blind yet so frustrated, and I think the answer is in the quoted post. Delightful! |

Let's spell out the oxytopes cycle explicitly:
A Miner mines blue ice, refines it, and sells oxytopes to pad his wallet. He is excited about making isk, but blind and naive. He thinks he isn't engaging in a 'harmful activity', and thinks CCP should add a 'PvP Optional' flag.
Those oxytopes are bought in Jita and used to fuel the engines of alliance warfare, most egregiously Nyxes and Erebuses. The Gallente capitals, having damage bonuses, wreak a trail of carnage in modern nullsec. Without those oxytopes, that carnage would not take place.
So Goonswarm, out of retaliation and a loathing for supercaps, are killing the people who are fuelling and abetting the supercap abuse. We have always hated supercaps, and not only do we try to punish those who use them by dropping hundreds of Hurricanes on them to blow them up directly, now we're taking the war to the miners who supply them.
Does a Tobacco farmer spread lung cancer, just because he doesn't make ciragrettes out of his crop?
Screw hisec ice miners. I have no sympathy. They produce war materiel while hiding under Concord and beg and plead for special protection while the products of their labor - which is mostly botted, as most ice miners seem to be cheats - are used to wreak havoc across nullsec.
