How is it one sided - you can kill a mission ship just as easily. Some energy neuts kill most active tanks (which good mission runners use) meaning they can't rep which means the rats + you kill them. Also fit damage type that they arn't tanked against. Almost 0 risk and you don't get your ship raeped by concord.
Needless to say in low sec and nullsec combat vessels get blown up all the time. What is the problem with suicide ganking ?
A single Mael will alpha most t3 mission runners easily too. |

He has got a point though, those doing the ganking hide just as much behind Concord, up until the time they strike. |

The Apostle wrote:I made a really dumb post the other day. I expected half an effort by miners when I suggested miners make a stand to get a mechanic changed. I flew into 100's of systems chasing support and all I was met with is "it'll never work". And with some reflection I'm inclined to think that's true. Not because CCP won't change (they do and have), but because miners are (and I say this without malice) selfish and lazy.
With hindsight, the post and the idea was dumb.
I make this post in an attempt to counter the problem with some thought rather then belligerence.
Suicide ganking IS an issue. There have been countless posts on the topic, from haha posts to steps to mitigate the risk. All valid to some degree but none really address why it happens.
Many arguments stem from the fact that miners should not be risk free and nor should they be able to make isk risk free. It's said that it should be allowed for 'economic' reasons ad nauseum.
However, the same should also be said for mission runners but we know they can't be ganked without serious firepower and dedication. So the whole concept of preventing "risk free income" in highsec is void right there.
If we accept that this is the reasoning behind ganking, we must also ask why suicide ganking is actually neccessary. Why not war-dec and get the free kill? No Concord and no sec status hit. Why indeed?
It's because half the miners (an assumption) sit in NPC corps - many are bots. Even if they join a "real" corp they can simply hop corps on a war-dec. They have MADE mining a relatively risk free pasttime and suicide ganking is the ONLY way to counter it.
With this in mind why should we not seek changes to provide for greater PvP opportunities AND allow for both economic, strategic and tactical advantages by killing both miners AND missioners.
This can only be done with 2 changes imho
1) Remove the ability to stay in an NPC for greater than some arbitrary time. (eg: 90 days). Failure to join a corp involves seizure of assets until you do.
2) Once a war-dec has been declared, NO members can either leave or join during the declaration.
Ofc, the miners still need some kind of protection from mindless violence when there are now more ways to kill them, validly and legitimately. An inability to target unarmed vessels UNLESS war-decced is a potential option.
And ofc, there are those that say this makes for 'consensual PvP' and to some extent it does. But war-dec mechanics exist in highsec for a reason and we should be making these mechanics far more effective. At the moment they're as good as pointless.
The alternative is to invalidate the entire concept of highsec, remove the neccessity to war-dec, remove Concord and let players decide who lives or dies. A true sandbox.
To be frank, it won't make the slightest difference to miners whether highsec, Concord or any such measures exist. They're dying anyway. Let's get highsec missioners and all other risk free isk makers in on the killmails as well.
Discuss....
Forgive my ignorance - but it seems the dumb poster above sounds to me like a losing pvp/griefer guy who can't beat anyone and now wants to pick on some mining vessel which can't shoot back.
Your idea (2) is the dumbest I have ever heard and would only be proposed by a griefer.
Your idea (1) is only slightly less dumb than (2)
Therefore - please amend your title to this thread - Griefer wanting easier ways to grief - discuss
There is a bunch of people - matey - that only log ingame so that they can carry out activities that are low risk - you want them to move to WOW or something?
And - anyone that has been online for any time - knows pvp ers are more low risk than anyone else in game - including logging off to stay safe and also taking on opponents in a 10v1 situation -
If you want more kills on your killmails - try taking on some risks

The Apostle wrote:Tanya Fox wrote:This is where your really agenda is, making high-sec more of a PvP area. You got it. That's EXACTLY what I'm saying. But my reasons are not so obvious. By doing as I am suggesting, "fighting men" will become targets ALL DAY, EVERY DAY, EVERY WHERE. They ALL use highsec for SAFETY because they CANNOT be reasonably ganked before Concord. This very safety allows THEM to fly around as long as those that cannot tank are dead meat. And the whole while, MINERS and UNARMED industrials should STOP WHINING because they ARE targets. "Sandbox", "This is Eve" ad nauseam. My point is to prove that "fighting men" DO NOT want this. It's a double bluff and the responses are proving this very fact. Miners are already stuffed. Let's ADD missioners, Incursion runners and EVERY combat vessel to higshec killmails and stop being shallow, lazy cowards with excuses that do NOT apply to the people saying it. They will fight this because it will **** up THEIR game. I knew this BEFORE I posted. It's why I did. Some people just haven't worked it out yet. +1 |

They really arn't - mission ships don't fit any buffer so they can often be 1 hit killed. |

Can't say I'm a big fan of Hulkagedden, even though I've not mined for years. Don't think there was even Hulkagedden back then.
Group of players just picking on soft targets just because they can, then patting each other on the back afterwards and bragging about killmails.
Don't think it does much for the game as a whole, but I'm sure those involved would disagree. |

Here here! Hulkageddon is always a nice shot in the arm to profits for awhile. < miner and planning on being a manufacture of the new tier 3 ganking BCs
I love how everyone just assumes that miners are bots as a rationalization for killing them... when everyone knows alot of null sec rating tangus are bots, yet they do nothing about.
Personally I run incursions or missions (if i dont want to mess with fleeting) when I'm on and want to make money. When I'm working on projects and programming I'll either mine or ice mine. I have 2 monitors so i can easily keep an eye on my overview... and if some ship other than a miner or npc warps in, I can quickly flip to another ship from my orca (usually a loki).

Quote:5b in a week? But I can't tell you how..... Yeah sure.
Buying plex for RL and selling 'em? You can do that in an hour.
I've been playing 3 years with 7 chars. I've done WH's, 0.0, had mulitple POS's doing multi billion isk BPO's, missioning with 3 x 40m SP chars, marketing with capital investment in the 10's of billions and I have NEVER made that kind of money.
So unless it's using market bots or 0.0 bots you didn't come close.
I can state I pulled 6b last week dumping my accumulated assets because I am stuck for something to do. But I sure as hell don't make it every week, that's for sure.
I make the call it's either RL involvement or illegal acts.
Wrong on all counts. Not scamming, not against the T&Cs in any way, no involving spending any IRL money in any way shape or form and I don't play the market other than selling **** I find or occasionally dealing in faction ammo from LP I've earnt one way or another. I don't cheat, either the game rules or other people, I know e-honour may be practically dead as far as some people are concerned in this game, but I live by my own code of conduct, I just don't expect other people to abide by it. Only time I'll cheat is in single player games, cheating in MMORPGs (which includes botting) is just lame.
Like I said, I'm not going to tell you how cos anyone can do it fairly easily and I don't want the competition. It didn't involve pulling in previously aquired assets either, involved very little setup time or previous effort.
Also, completely seperately I made 4 bil in a couple of minutes once but that was an officer rat spawn dropping 2 officer mods (3.5bil for the mods and 500mil for the salvage) but that is pure luck ;) Next time I got an officer spawn he droped a tag and no salvage which was a bit meh ;)
Just because you can't work it out doesn't mean it can't be done or that there isn't a way to do it. I know this is hard for your ego to take but tough.
I think anyone who knows me would realise I don't talk crap, these are pure facts.

Bad to worse idea apostle.
A certain amount of ganking is tolerable. Miners don't get instant isk, they also have to haul there minerals to market and sell it. So they can get ganked there as well.
Although I must admit ganking a hauler on it way to market makes a whole lot of sense. Ganking somebody in the belt, well none at all.
THen as you mentioned ganking miners in the belt is easy and ganking a mission runner requires more work. Well that makes the gankers just as lazy as the miners.
The correct question is why are there so many people ganking miners, it isn't for ISK. IT isn't about nobody should be 100 % safe in High-sec, that does not answer the question.
Or perhaps you should be asking why all these people that are supposed to be PvP'rs aren't out killing each other or somebody who has some chance to fight back.

1) Yes, confuse 90 day old newbies even further by taking away all their stuffs and force them to be social. That'll work out well.
2) Yes, introduce a NEW griefing mechanic to attempt to solve an old one. Once your corp is perma-wardec'd and you can never leave, I'm sure you'll change your tune.
Your game mechanics changes are harsher than the existing one that allows for ganking.
