These shenanigans have been going on since the beginning of online gaming. There have been many TS and Vent operas sung, for many different reasons, and all to the great amusement of the unwashed masses. The number one reason for it? Pixel greed. If you've never been invited to a Vent server and asked "Want to sing for your stuff?" you aren't gaming  Most people politely decline and sometimes you get wonderful ragequit clips. Those precious, rare gems are the ones who value their pixel wealth above all.
Online gaming is competition. Be it Eve or Hello Kitty, you're playing against the rest of the server in some aspect. This poor sap thought he was going to get a leg up on the competition, was willing to trade what little bit of self respect he had for that advantage, and got taken to the cleaners.

I am pretty sure that it is law in the EU that you are not allowed to publish anything with someone's voice on it without their permission. I know for sure you cannot record and use for public evidence, any recording of someone without them consenting and being informed in advance that this is being recorded. Any such recording is regarded as an invasion of privacy.
That is why the call centres have a message telling you that your call is being recorded. It is a legal requirement. |

In many US states, two party consent is required to record a conversation. In just about all, and many other countries the rules for publishing are even more strict.
