CCP is almost completely idemnified against culpability from any reaction between players, so long as the ToS is not violated. Especially if it took place outside of their own game (and it did, since it happened on Teamspeak).

So unless you can point out some part of the User Agreement/Terms of Service that Erotica 1 broke, the most the "victim" (if anything, he is victim only of his own stupidity) can do is file a petition that will be ignored or laughed at.

This is what bothers me the most about the "stop cyber bullying" crowd. You try and legislate manners. Thing is, the Internet is an entirely voluntary participation. At any point in which you cannot continue to tolerate what is going on, you can click that big red X in the upper right corner same as everybody else. What that means is that any offense you take from some content, is entirely on you. Other people shouldn't be legally responsible for your emotions.

You missed two aspects of my point,

1) This isn't that big of a deal, but we need to make sure it doesn't progress into big deals.

2) CCP has taken step to protect themselves, and may be invulnerable to victim action against them.

By giving incentives to someone, SPENDING isk on tears and taking it out of game- you can cause them to endure a literally damaging amount of grief. Compounded by the fact that people willing to endure this already have self-esteem issues, I could see a wrongful death suit against CCP in the future... Filed by someone who never agreed to a EULA.

I'd agree with you if it was just manners, if people were just being rude. We are social creatures, programmed to stay in groups even if we endure horrible things. Particularly if we have faced rejection in the past, we become vulnerable to more malicious behavior.

There isn't some sign over his head granting him immunity from me because of IRL circumstances. And that's what it all comes down, in the end. Proper separation of real life from EVE Online.

In the seemingly endless and bizarre search for tears in this game, a complete noob at Eve was humiliated and scammed for everything he had by Erotica1 and friends, including members of New Order / Code. This noob was invited to Erotica's 'Bonus Room' on teamspeak with promises of receiving 7bil+ if he handed over all his noob assets, with further conditions of:

- gathering all assets, including as many corp assets as he could lay his hands on and handing them over
- demanding on Teamspeak he sang (in front of his wife and kids that you could hear next to him) either '*****' by Garbage, some brony theme song as well as other idiotic ideas. The noob pleaded with them not to humiliate him by making him sing this in front of his kids.

The eager noob then agreed to read a random page out of wikipedia, with plans to spend his 7 billion winnings on gametime. After 5 minutes of reading out the page he was then scammed out of all his assets.

Your points are self-refutory. That being, the second one refutes the first. Who is this "we" that needs to make sure it doesn't become a big deal? The community? CCP? If the latter, they already have made sure.

Any such lawsuit can be dismissed with prejudice out of hand, and the plaintiff forced to pay court costs for frivolity.

You seem to think that we have a duty to tiptoe around overly sensitive, thin skinned people. You are incorrect. It's not a disability I have to accomodate, they aren't in wheelchairs or carrying a cane/oxygen, they are just crybabies. At some point, they decided that other people are at fault for their own reactions. This is a lie. However someone chooses to disabuse them of that false assumption in the bounds of the game (or teamspeak, or any internet medium for that matter), does not matter.

This has nothing to do with his reactions, I'm not proposing we make radical changes to the game and life to accommodate morons. I'm not even saying you shouldn't exploit them in game.

This has to do with the actions of scammers. Scamming and tear mining people is a privilege granted you by CCP, when it starts to become harassment BOTH parties have an obligation to end it.

Oh and OP if you actually cared about this guy you wouldn't have republished his towering stupidity. You're just using his daftness to further some issue you have with scammers scamming in a game that features scamming.

The people that scammed him in this way are pretty sad and probably have some real life issues they need to sort out, i at least wouldn't want to know these kind of people.

When this obligation is not fuffiled, then it's necessary to make (necessary) radical changes to the game and life to accomodate morons harassed people.
