Having just purchased my first Raven IĘve been pondering the set-up IĘm going to use. My first version runs something along these lines-
Highs 6 x Arbalest/T2 Cruise 1 x 150mm Proto/T2 rail gun 1 x Small Tractor beam
Meds 1 x T2 Cap Recharger 1 x T2 Large Shield Booster 1 x T2 Large Shield Extender 2 X Specific Shield Hardeners 1 x T2 Invul Field
Lows 3 x T2 PDS 2 x T2 BCU
Butą Taking on board peoples comments on how long/difficult it can take down rat frigates with this type of set-up, I was wondering if this insane configuration would work-
Highs 2 x T2 Assault Launchers 4 x T2 Cruise/T2 Torps 2 x T2 250mm Medium Rail guns
Meds Same as above set-up
Lows 3 x T2 PDS 1 x T2 BCU 1 x T2 Mag Field Stab
My take on this is that the Assault Launchers will be able to take down those pesky rat frigs real quick using T2 ammo, especially if the 250mm rails can hit the frigs before they close range. The 250mm rails can be combined with the Cruise/Torps to take down any bigger ships, especially when loaded with T2 ammo. The same reason why fitting the Assault Launchers with T2 ammo as, with the right skills trained, they should be doing the same damage as Heavy missiles.
Assult Launcher will gimp the rest of your DPS vs the bigger ships. On a Raven the only 2 launchers you should be using are Cruise and Torpedo. If you want to kill the frigates faster, fit a Target Painter. ------------------------------------- Proud member of G Guild! |

Edited by: Roy Gordon on 21/11/2006 14:38:30 Right, I’ve just fitted my first Raven with the modules I had already, plus what I could afford after insuring the thing, this was my initial set-up-
Highs 4 x XT-9000 Cruise Launchers 2 x ZW-4100 Siege Launchers 1 x 150mm Proto rail 1 x Small Tractor Beam
Meds 1 x Eutectic I Capacitor Charge Array 1 x T2 Large Shield Booster 1 x T2 Large Shield Extender 2 x T2 Shield Hardeners 1 x V-M15 braced Multispectral Shield Matrix
Lows 3 x Type-D Power Core Modification: Diagnostic System 2 x BCU
Drone Bay 5 x Vespa
I had the misfortune of being offered ‘Vengeance’ as my very first lvl 4 agent mission offer and found that whilst I could do the first two areas with some difficulty, the last area was far more dangerous. After numerous warp-outs I finally managed to wipe out the defenders apart from that ****, defender firing, uber-tanking Raven to finish off. And that was when I discovered I could not break its tank with the above set-up. I could not get any closer than 49 clicks and it shot down most of my cruise/torps before they hit and easy tanked any which got through. I was forced to return to my base hanger 2 jumps away and fit my Lif AB (removed the invul field to do this), and also buy 4 Shock Limnos Siege Launchers to replace the cruise, which was the best I could fit due to CPU restrictions (Unlike every other module in the game, Siege launchers CPU requirements seem to go up the better the launcher is, any idea why?). I went back and after an hour I finally took down the Raven. In many ways I am glad I received ‘Vengeance’ as my first lvl 4 as I had a real baptism of fire which has given me a very good idea of what to fit, and when.

What is the benefit of everyone placing the heavy NOS in the high slots?
Are they used to counter something specific or is it just energy is life and grab as much as you can?

Highs: 6x Cruise Launcher II 2x E500 Heavy NOS
Mids: Gist X-Type XL Shield Booster (840 for 400 cap / 4 secs) 2x Pith X-Type SB Amps (45%) Pith X-Type Photon Scattering Field 2x Estamel's Modifed Invulnerability Field
Lows: 2x PDS II 2x Caldari Navy BCS 1x Co-Processor II
Rigs: 2x CCCs 1x Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I
Between 81 and 88% resists across the board, can't run booster permanently, but should boost enough for most situations.
For solo PvP drop a SB amp for scrambler.

Edited by: Lucius Ventrue on 18/04/2007 14:21:46 Extremely good setup that seems to work wonders:
Pre-req Must have Advance Weapon upgrades IV for this to work, otherwise you will have to have 2 Co-processor II's.
0.0 type setup (with smartbomb)
High Slots 6x Cruise Missle II 1x Large Smartbomb (named) 1x Large NOS (named)
Mid Slot 1x X-Large Booster II 2x Invun Field II 1x Sensor Booster II 2x Large Shield Extender II
Low Slots 2x PDU II 1x Damage Control II 1x Co-processor II 1x Ballistic Control II
Puts you, with some compensation levels of'course around 62% em 85% kin 87% expl 78% thrm Shield Along with having 60% to all hull (always nice) and around 17k shields
Real Battlereport using this setup Raven in combat - battle report
As you can see toward the bottom, Perc missles mixed with the smartbomb for the pods = great combo. Got finishing blow and on most of the kills.

Heres the raven setup I used extensivly with my old corp in Khanid low-sec
6 Arby/t2 torps 2 Medium Neut
1 X-Lrg C5L shield Booster (works better for pvp that the t2 imo, better fitting and its quicker, though less efficient) 1 T2 EM Hardner (switch out for a second inuln t2 if you can afford it, they're cheaper now though I think) 1 T2 Invuln 1 Heavey Electrochem cap booster (800s) 1 Warp Disruptor (always need that extra point, I always keep some sort of warp disrupt on all my pvp setups, gang or solo) 1 Either shield boost amp, or sensor booster, or eccm, maybe even a tp though i'm not sure if it would fit (for gang combat the sensor booster is usually best imo)
3 T2 BCUs 1 T2 Pdu 1 Whatever you can fit, with the sensor booster you can fit another bcu but it doesnt do a whole lot more becuase of stacking
For my cargo hold I would normally keep about 300 rounds of ken and therm ammo each, and 150 of em and ex each, the rest cap boosters. For extended fights I would drop another cap booster and add more ammo in those ratios (launchers loaded with 2 therm 2 ken 1 em 1 ex)
This is definitly my favorite raven setup, though I havent used it or a raven in pvp in a monthish. Its got the tank to hold up against sentries and hostiles for a bit, aswell as the scram point which is important as your tacklers often have to warp. Its also about as much damage as you can get from a raven, against larger ships anyways.
I like your setup, especially the shield extenders as it will add a lot to your survivability, the only thing is I really dont agree with using smartbombs on a ship in a gang other than a carrier/mom. Reason being they wreck havoc on your friend's drones/small ships/even popping their pods if they happen to be near. I would definitly recomend changing this out to another nos, or using the free grid from taking it to loose one of the pdus and squeeze in another bcu or somthing.

Last Mid = Invul II Last Low = PDS II
Swap the Med Neuts for heavy NOS
and you have good basic Raven setup. ___________________

Fleet Snipe Setup
Designed to sit 100km from the main engagement and attack ships of all sizes (from tackling intys to battleships).
Highs 6x Cruise II w/Precisions 1x E500 NOS (in case a tackler gets too close)
Med XL C5L Shield Booster 2x Invul II 1x Photon II 1x F-90 Sensor Booster 1x Heavy Electro Cap Injector w/800
Lows 4x BCU II 1x CPU II
Rigs 2x ROF Rigs
QuickFit gives ROF of 6.53 seconds with Caldari BS 4. I know the BCU and rigs are stack nerfed but I feel when firing at large numbers of targets ROF is important.

Drop the cloak it gimps your lock time and use the freed up CPU to fit another BCU in the lows. Put a salvager in the last high slot.
Drop the two LSE IIs in favour of two Invulnerability II fields. Resists > HP.
I'd imagine you'll probably have enough powergrid left then to use a PDS instead of an RCU, which will give you better shield recharge, cap recharge....etc etc. ___________________

I have no idea how anyone has the kind of CPU skills needed for these setups. But after looking through the topic, can someone give me a very good raven setup that is great for ratting in 0.0 against angel rats, and being able to hold my own in a pvp battle (or at least survive it).

What do you guys think about this setup against angel pirates/pvp defending (not actively looking for people)
High Slots: 6x Shock limos siege launchers 1x Heavy Nos 1x Medium Nos
Medium Slots: 1x Sensor Booster II 2x Invulnerability field II 1x Large Shield Booster II 1x Shield boost amplifier I 1x Kinetic Deflection amplifier II
Low Slots: 3x Power Diagnostic systems II 2x Ballistic Control Unit II
2x Warhead Caleflaction catalyst I
This works in quickfit with some very good electronics/weapons upgrade skills, I was wondering whta you guys thought of this setup and is there a way you could improve it?

Or, what do you think about this for a pvp setup...
High slots: 6x arbalest cruise launchers 1x heavy nos 1x medium nos
Medium slots: 1x sensor booster II 2x Invulnerbility field II 1x x-large shield booster II 1x warp disrupter 1x heat dissipation field II
Low slots: 3x PDU II 2x BCU II
Rigs: 2x Warhead caleflaction catalyst I
Drones: 1x Wasp EC-900 (Heavy ECM drone) 1x Ogre SD-900 (Heavy Sensor Dampenor Drone) 1x Praetor TD-900 (Heavy Tracking Disruptor Drone)
This setup i was thinking of using with ratting in 0.0 as well, but its more pvp oriented. Any suggestions would be nice.
