I'm kinda lost here with the launchers... should 1 use siege or cruzs? I noticed that torpedoes can't really hit fast ships and cruzs dun provide enough dps to take out a well fitted bs. I'm interested in L4 missions, soloing them in my Raven.
thnx in advance

if you're pve siege is recommended since it could take out bs and cruiser(not effieciently) and use drones for frigs. for pvp either one of this since its upto the need. for long range engagement and solo cruise is recommended since it all round weapon which hurt anything but not very good against bs compared to torp. use torp for bs and cruiser engagement but its slow and not useful for frigs. ------------------------------------------------
Why ppl look down at my raven. Its cool to have mining laser fitted. |

I just got my first BS a Raven and now realising what a money making machine they are. To help out my setup I trained engineering and electronics to lvl 5, everything else power/shields related is at lvl 4. I started out with basic tech 1 mods and have been replacing them with named mods when the rat BS's give them up. This setup against Guristas I find works pretty well. I think its pretty standard for anyone starting out too. (Replace with named mods when you find/afford them)
Hi 6 x Siege 1 x med nos 1 x tractor beam
med 1 x XL shield booster 1 x shield booster amp 1 x cap recharger 1 x thermal hardner 2 x kinetic hardner
low 2 x BCU 3 X PDS
The nos is mostly redundant.

is this even possible? This is my fitting
6 X Arby Siege 2 Heavy Diminishing Nos
1 x C5-L XL booster, 1 x Eutectic, 3 x Invuln II's 1x Shield boost amp
5 x power diag IIs or 3 power diags IIs and 2 BCUs
....and with weapon upgrades V and electronics V and all the named stuff its a tight fit on CPU. I havent dont the numbers but i dont see how a straight tech II fit...especially an XL booster could possibly fit w/o some kind of cpu mod(s)
yeh i had same thoughts that set up would take a lot of power

and for PvP latley i use this setup...
High : 6 Arbalest Cruises + 2 Large or Med Smartbobms (in hold u have cruises and FoF Cruises) Med: 1 XL t2 booster, 1 Invulnrbillity t2, Sensor booster t2, Web and warp scrambler + ecm Brust. Low: 1 ballistic control t2, dammage control unit, 3 pdus t2. http://4.forumer.com/uploads/ncc2104b/post-40-1115758687.gif |

forgot to add Heavy Drones t2 in drone hold.
And u can switch smartbombs (useful against enemy drones) with nosferatus...
But ist all about being aware what ships u might face. Diff ships diff setups.
plus depends are u Dmg dealer or tanker... or sniper... http://4.forumer.com/uploads/ncc2104b/post-40-1115758687.gif |

Your setup doesnt rock anything at all, maybe except suckage. 60mil of T2 cap rechargers PLUS NOS , you don't even a a tank on it... no sb or extenders. Whats the point of having all that cap if u dont use it?
My current setup for ratting: 6x Arbie Siege Launchers 1x Tractor beam 1x Heavy Diminishing nos ------------------------- 1x XL 5C-L SB 1x SB Amp 3x Hardeners (3x esplosive and 1x kin for angels) 1x T2 Cap Recharger ------------------------- 3x PDU2 2x BCU
for pvping 6x arbie cruise 2x diminishing nos
1x sensor boosters 1-2x webber 1x scrambler 1x Targer Painter 1x Multispec 1x XL C5-L SB
3xBCU 2xPDU2
Depending of hostiles in the area (many ceptors in the late time) I'll pack 2 webbers on me. Why? They will come at you orbiting at 5km/s expecting you to be in need of a tackler if there are none around. You lock on em' web em twice, scramble and paint. Then you suck their cap and they'll go at around 112.5 m/s without any cap to do anything. You pound it then or if you have precision cruises then it's long gone over.
Cheers

No hardeners in your pvp setup? Thats brave.

I fly lvl 4 missions and for my setup i fit. >--High -2 Seige launchers II's -4 Cruise Launchers II's (If i am expcting heavy bs resistance ill fit 3 seige launcher/3 cruise) -2 Heavy Vamps II's. (only 1 if i pick the 3 seige launcher setup) >--Med -3 Specific sheld hardiner II's depending on rats -1 Sheld Amp -1 xl shield Booster II -1 Large Shield Extender II >--Low -1 cpu II -2 BCU II's -2 PDS II's
With this setup you have the flexability of cruise missles for the larger cruisers and Bc's and u can concentrate your seige launchers on the Bs's also. That way your not confined to shooting Cruisers and Bc's with seige launchers or Bs's with cruise Launchers. Of course you can always fit a warp stab in the lows but (1) You need damb good engineering skills to activate it (2) If your a confident player and just blow the hell out of your frigs first then no need for it. Probabbly gonna get flamed for this but playing eve is part of a learning curve. send me your ideas on this.

I am relatively new in eve so I fit my raven according with my skills: hight - 6 arby torpedo launcher, 1 heavy energy vampire 25 km range, and 1 small tractor beam med - 4 large shields extender tech 2, and 2 invulnerability tech 2 low - 5 power diagnostic system tech 2
Actually I can use only 4 drone, but I am working now to can use 5, and to train skill for drone which request drone level 5.

Edited by: Colonel Lemming on 31/03/2006 11:02:13 I've been playing with the thought of a Raven of my own. I've bought it and started fitting it while I'm using my Scorpion (we're in Empire War right now). This is an alt I'm using.
I intend to use it for Lvl4's.
4xArb Cruise 2xArb Siege 1xDomination Medium smartbomb 1xTractorbeam
Mid: XL C5-L SB Shield Boost Amp 2xInvul II's 1xCap Recharger (16,5% right now, upgrading later) 1x Large Shield Extender II
Low: 3xPDU II's 2xBCU II's
Also using 5xVespa II's for frig/small cruiser support ------------------------------------------ I'd like some feedback on this one if possible. I haven't tried it out for real yet though as soon as our war is finished I intend to do some simulations with my corpmates. I'm having some problems fitting all of it right now but that's because I haven't dared doing a trade-run with my cargo full of Arb-cruise/sieges yet. Last time I did something like that my Condor was ambushed by a Hound.

These setups are the things that my dreams are made of. The only thing likely to rain on my wet dream in regard to this setup is the most of it, or perhaps too much of the really good stuff, will be destroyed in by the random number generator when I pop this guy's ship.
No cap injector? /boggle No shield amp /another double take no damage mods in lows??!!??
Exactly how will you tank anything above a hac? And even then I'd give several hac setups I can think of the edge in terms of breaking your tank.
A vampoc or vampdom owns you 1v1. I'd even give even money to a blasterthron getting in close and raping you by doing damage you aren't tanked for those particular resist. Said blasterboat guy lives because he has cap and is cap injected whilst you aren't.
I guess I'm being too much of a bish here, too hard on the guy......but just throwing away mods like that is just well silly\crazy\stupid.

This is my general PVP fleet setup.
High: 6x 'Arbalest' Cruise Missile Launcher 2x Heavy Diminishing Nosferatu
Try to always keep high range from the enemy fleet. I tend to like/end up at 40-80km. The Nosferatus are there to simply deny a single frigate or two to tackle you.
Mid: 1x Large Shield Booster II 2x Invulnerability Field II 1x Photon Scattering Field II 2x Sensor Booster II
Think resists and locktime, never tank, the booster is there to regenerate the 10-50% shield you lost on the enemies first volley, always stay aligned to a planet or POS at full speed. If you see the whole screen/overview go yellow, warp, and warp fast. (That goes for frigates/interceptors targeting you to, since they lock faster and will try to tackle you.)
Low: 3x Ballistic Control System II 1x Gravimetric Backup Array 1x Power Diagnostic Unit II
The BCS's are to be able to volly em missiles as fast as possible. The gravimetric backup really speaks for itself. And the PDU is just there because it's there, lol.
Hope this helps some of you clueless ones. Now, there are ALOT of setups for a Raven, I've been working on an armor tanker with Heavy Cap Injector and stuff, but it's as of yet unfinished and not tested enough, so I won't post it.
I can see alot of good setups in this thread and I can also see the use for them during fleet engagements. But I tend to like my resists, being a seasoned Cerberus pilot I've come to realise that resists is what saves the day.

Edited by: Tremex on 29/04/2006 08:12:28 Why does everyone fit NOS on their ships ? Is it any good against NPCs ? And why does everyone also put so much siege launchers on their ships ? The damage is greatly reduced against smaller ships (cruisers, for instance).
Could somebody explain me that ?

Actually, NOS are most effective against NPCs IMO - they are great for bolstering your tank.A NOS has gotten me out of trouble once or twice with intys but you are better off using a nuetralizer on the little bastards

Edited by: Thendementhord on 29/04/2006 12:52:34 IMO in most L4 missions only siege launchers are baaad. Or at least slower in killing all ships than cruise+siege launchers. Usually there are much more cruisers/ceptors/AFs than BSs. Also 3rd hardener for the same damage type gets a big stacking penalty. Edit: NOS gives you CAP, but im not sure if they weaken the NPCs.
My "usual" standard raven setup: High: -4x arbi cruise -2x Arbi siege -tractor+NOS
Med: -T2 large SB (i dont have the skill for T2XL, and named XL boosters would just *****my cap) -Boost amp -1x Invul T2, 2x rat/mission specific T2 hardener -1x T2 Cap recharger.
Low: -2/3BCU II -3/2PDU II
7x med drones in drone bay.
(Drone missions: 3 cruise + 3 heavy launcher; 3 BCU, 1 nano, 1 PDU in drone missions. -> Infiltrated outpost is finished and looted in ~40 minutes) (4 siege launchers in BS heavy missions) (add 2 large smartbombs if mission has gallente ceptors)
Add faction stuff if you can afford :)
"Hard" missions: Right hand of Zazzmatazz -> drop a bookmark, and you should be fine if you start shooting them from 100km. Or simply warp in @100km if you feel lucky, it can be done. Worlds collide -> smartbombed the serpentis base, full agro so warped out, and dropped the mission. Enemies abound 5/5-> didn't try it (part 1-4 is not realy difficult) Vengeance-> take down the sentries, and anything else, warp out, fit an AB, and as many siege launchers as u can. Try to get as close to the boss as you can before start firing.
