It looks like you guys have realised that the players pay your bills and are getting some spaceship side of the game work done, and I must say, from what I've seen far, it looks really good! Keep up the good work I really hope the upcoming fixes to Gallente/hybrid weapons balances things out properly :)
These new sky changes must be exciting because I'm quite intrigued by them and they've piqued my interest but I play on minimum graphcs as my computer is a bit crap so I probably won't even be affected by them! Hopefully I can get a better computer at some point and enjoy the stunning new skybox that you guys are designing |

I'm somewhat and somehow disappointed of the granularity chosen for each unique backdrop. Region based granularity seems too big for my taste. At first I thought you would notice the changes in the position of nebulae at a solar system basis, each time you jump from an stargate to an other. Yeah. Me too, though I can understand... I guess for 'granularity' reasons, as they put it - an even better 'xmas' present would have been Constellation, rather than Region...
Yep, but I think those images are generated procedurally, so no much man work involved I hope. I really wonder if the real problem is that those images are too fat (in Megabytes) for the client to have too many of them. |

How will Factional Warfare space be colored?
i belive the nebulae are static entitys dotted around the place so whatever is there to begin with will be there for all eternity.
correct me if im wrong though?

How will the new effects gel with the older ship models though?
I'm sure the nebulae + new ship shaders + new ships will look winsauce. :D They might do just that ;). But we want confirmation from you guys so once the SiSi build is up (tonight or tomorrow), let us know! Sounds excellent. I'm curious about the V3 project though, and this might be a good time to ask... Way-back-when.... there was talk, that when the new shader system came around, it might be possible to have your ship reflect a certain amount of 'planet light', as well as that from nebulae -- for example, a reddish tinge on the side nearest a lava planet, etc... Do you think that'd be possible?
I'm not a technical artist, but the art guys told me that V3 will open up more possibilities for temporary reflections and lighting effects on your ship....for example when something blows up close by and lights up one side of your ship. CCP Guard | EVE Community Developer |

It's a step in the right direction, but I feel it's a shame that the smallest unit of precision would be a region - is there no way to programatically create different backgrounds for systems in a region that would gradually show the change between regions?
And as far as having high sec being filled with color, I always humans considered bright colors as stimulants (increasing tensions) and darker colors as depressants (reducing tension and making people go docile), but I guess it could have a cultural bias. |

I admit I'm a little cautious about regions being the unit of granularity for distance changes, personally.
Surely the client knows exactly where the player is in relation to all of the other solar systems, as well as these landmark objects - why only update the visual distance from region to region, instead of having static skyboxes with the landmark objects dynamically rendered based on the system you're in? Would there be too much overhead or increases in loading times between systems by doing this?
Also, another similar question - regions are really big, and often come very close to each other, or in the case of Querious and Delve, intertwined - why have a jarring change when the backgrounds could be blended or rendered in a way to make it apparent that you are "closer" to one region or another? |

Looking good. Can't wait to see how it all look in game while flying around.
It would have been much cooler if the backgrounds changed on every jump which is what I thought you guys were originally going to do. Place the nebula in a 3d model of the eve galaxy and have the computer render out the backgrounds for each system based on its position relative to the nebula. I suppose that would be a large number more backgrounds and more disk space usage, but totally worth it if you ask me. :)
No matter, this is still amazing! Good job CCP. |

Subscribing this, in principle. But before complaining I will log into the test server and look if the new system is actually not up to my expectations...

they look great and the change is fantastic that will add the extra dimension when traveling in space.
on a side note can we have some feed back to the cap changes to leave it go over a 100 pages without any reply from a dev it only show the commitment to the players that have stayed for years and to be left in the dark. |

I'd have to agree with some of the other people, shiny looking, I'm gonna have to crack out my SiSi client...
So I take it, this will only change at all on region jumps? There won't be any movement within a region? :(
Any chance that over time you'll increase granularity so that there's at least some movement of objects as you jump constellations? Or is that a wait another few years dealio (it's fine, I can see the potential technical challenges, just wishing). |

Are we going to be able to see the EVE Gate in the distance when in Amarr space? You're supposed to be able to see it quite clearly from Amarr Prime. |

Looks great, my only nitpick is the plan to make highsec brighter. Why? Space isn't going to conform to CONCORD's somewhat arbitrary delineation of security status. Just because CONCORD has decided to have nothing to do with 0.0 doesn't mean it's going to be darker there.
People want EVE to be as realistic as possible, this isn't the way to do it. |

Wormholes already look pretty good imo ...
WHY do PCOs screw over wormholes?
ABC's removal being removed from low class w-space could suck for some, but I don't know if it will happen. Imagine playing Donkey Kong where every barrel looks like it hits you. Would you rather I fix the barrels or Kong's shadow?

While this is true nebula form because of stuff in space, planets tend to form in said nebula because of stuff being there, the Empires formed in the space they are in because of the larger number of planets that support life and such. I don't really know the lore or what not but I am sure you can come up with some reason to explain why the Empire formed in those areas of the galaxy instead of trying to explain why the nebula formed around the empires. |

Uhm... I know I'm in the minority here but... what about wormholes? I barely leave my wh these days, will that mean we see no improvement? I remember reading a dev comment once about a plan to make successive wormholes look more evil and dangerous the higher level they are. Is this still happening? Thanks.
edit: Also, on the concern that ships will not be as diverse in colours now, could you not have them reflect different colours from different coloured stars in each system - ignoring the nebulae? |

Of course, but what *is* the background colour? I'd love to keep that which you speak of (which I also like) but at lovely high resolution like in these screenshots :) |
