I think we should remove the Merlin, Harpy, Moa and Eagle from the game. They are clearly railgun-focused which is against Caldari tradition. Kindly replace the Merlin with the Kestrel B, the Harpy with the Kestrel C, the Moa with the Caracal B and the Eagle with the Cerberus B.
The Harpy would be Hawk B(after upcoming fixes) Technically.

Uhmm... either it's just me, or everyone is kind of missing the OP's point. o.O;
Wizz isn't whining about Caldari tier.3 being railboat instead of missile ship. He's whining because new ship being railboat means now there's going to be mass numbers of people flying Caldari battleships both in PvE (Raven) and PvP (the new turret battleship likely very good for sniping... read gate camping and fleet combat)
Which will make 'real' Caldari pilots 'just another guy in game where everyone flies Caldari ships' instead of someone more dunno, unique... and it'll without doubt increase further the volume of whines how "omg nurf Caldari cuz they have best ships for everything" :/

I have a character with 9.4 million skill points in missiles. The same character has Caldari BS 5 (of course) and every other skill a good missile-tossing / EW ownage girl should have.
She's now currently training Large Rail Level 5. Thank CCP that I don't have to train an entirely different race of BS now to have a decent firect-fire capability.
I understand the point of the OP, but I'm happy for this. T2 425mm with Spike L on a Caldari platform 4TW.

I'm working on Rail 5 right now, with just over 4M SP in gunnery. It's going to be nice to help out in Fleet battles and killing POSes without training Gallente BS up.

What the hell are you talking about? Tier-3 battleships are tech 1 ships, HACs are tech 2. You can't compare the two.
Tech 2 ships are expensive because of limited supply (because of a limited and rather low number of BPOs in circulation) and relatively high demand. Tech 1 ships have virtually unlimited supply since most tech 1 BPOs can always be bought on the market.
Therefore, while tier 3 battleships may be a bit expensive when they come out because of the novelty factor, their prices will quickly go down and never fluctuate much anymore, except to follow the prices of minerals. Just like battlecruisers when they came out -- 30-35 million ISK shortly after release, 20-25M now.

TheWizz is whining j0s, it isn't about game design or what's good for the game. He has been pursuing this whine for a long time.
As for me: \o/  I've had T2 large hybrids at 5 for well over a year (cannot remember finishing it ) and as a Caldari specialist I was not best pleased to pretty much lose the use of them when the missile nerf came in.

I'm another of the few Caldari who have eschewed the usual 'missiles, heavy missiles and cruiser missiles' path and tried to work mostly on railguns, so of course I'm excited to see there's a railgun BS in the pipeline, however I do have some concerns with it - for example I hope it is not just a larger Ferox which would be disappointing, simply because although the Ferox is 'designed' as a railgun platform (if you look at the ship bonus) it works so much better with the passive tank missile setup that you rarely see one fitted with railguns. In fact people comment on it every time they see my ferox firing rails. A tier 3 battleship which allowed the same flexibility in weapon mounting would pretty much render the Raven obsolete.
In fact I hope (cue flames) that when the Tier 2 'missile' battlecruiser becomes available the Ferox fitting constraints are revisited and the number of turret slots is limited to 3 or 4, so more people actually start using the Ferox in the way it was intended.

I would love to see a Rail-specific Caldari BS and always used my Ferox as a railboat.
However, in an ideal world I'd like to see the Raven become the Tier 3 BS (with changes to bring it in line with the other new tier 3 BSes) and the new rail BS replace the Raven as Tier 2...
Not gonna happen, of course and it's no real biggie...

actualy i do mean that even more are gona fly caldari now.
u could fit a small armour tank full EW and guns on it.
it should be having VERY few low's alot of med slots to make it a real shield tanker and ship bonus to shield tanking.
btw the moa has a shield tank bonus to.
btw im wizz and yes i have 1 mil skill in gunnery wich is becouse of advanced weapon upgrades.

If I recall correctly, from the placeholder stats, the caldari t3 has 8/7/6 slot layout, 7 turret, 4 missile, a 10% bonus and a 5% bonus (likely 10% optimal and 5% resist / lvl). Remember these are the PLACEHOLDER stats, which means the ship in the db is NOT the final stats, but a general suggestion of what they're going to be.

That's true. My grandmother recently finished her cruise missile skills, but her shield tanking ability is still in its infancy. So she makes me fly nursemaid on her with shield transfer arrays while she runs level 4 missions in her Raven. And she insists that I do it in a Ferox.

Placeholder stats are 7/4 turret/missile, 8/7/5 slot layout, CPU of a scorp and PG of a apoc and 1x 10% + 1x 5% bonus, can only guess what they will be but I would assume 10% optimal range + 5% shield resist.
