Tell me how to overcome this...
The server failed to respond to the client's secure-handshake request within a reasonable amount of time
New client + upgrade + that DX thingie from few posts up installed. I am providing my login/pass which works on TQ... and got that msg.
I see that server status is OK and at this very moment it has 50 players online.

Yeah, my bad. And its 4539 not 4531, another typo for me 
As for the handshake problem, it seems to be pretty common and yet no explination or solution has arrived.

I just installed the client. I created a new folder extra for it but then it created a folder in my new folder and installed everything in there. Any chance that it doesnt create a folder which I didnt allow?

I'm on 2k too and i get that error. Must be an OS thing.

I'm on XP Home on my laptop, and still havn't been able to connect, times out every time..
Also had the DX error, but have fixed that one now.

If I want to test some stuff out on the test server:
Couple questions:
First I make a copy of my Eve fold to anouther location to instal the test paches on?
Second, When I do this are thier folder I should delete since they will not matter being on the new test server?
Third, which Patch should I download: Full Installer or Test Parches?
Fourth, what is Dragon and how is it different from tranquility right now?
I think thats all thanks.
I tried out testserver a long time ago when I could use it on the same version. Havn't tried it since they said I should have a second copy.

To the OS thing, Im using xp pro, and Ive been getting the
"The server failed to acknowledge the client's response to the
server's challenge within a reasonable amount of time" answer from sisi, for the last couple of days now..
might be a service pack thing.. not sure.. need to look into that, but if somone knows, they may respond and let more ppl know if there's a fix for this.
ps. sharkbait. yupp I had this included in my last buggreport including the dxdiag...

It's my fault actually
... I started nagging at him to get this problem sorted and he said "what problem" :P....
But problems like this often get ignored as a isp issue so that's why I kept asking in priv8. There's enough complaints that I figgure they'll be looking into it ;)

well, my issue has partly been solved.
Problem:
As noted above and several threads, Ive been unable to get any farther than the authentication screen, when trying to log into sisi.
Solution:
use a different account.
(worked fine).

no problems here, 'cept I get the the message that the system I am in is loading but it never does, yesterday no problems at all, but I didnt stick around to do any testing. now I have time to test and I can not finish getting in.

I get the same message when trying to enter the game. Upon loading it says "Failed" and goes back to the character selection screen and this pops up:
Your character is located within (Tunttaras), which is currently
loading. Please try again in a moment.
I get the same message with all of my characters (yes, I keep multiple) even though they are located in different systems quite a tad away from eachother.

does anyone else here use 2k because for some reason i can not get test to run on win2k
i jsut reformated for xp because for some reason my comp is a hell of a lot more stable on 2k and eve runs better. while i was on xp i had test running fine but now i can not get test to connect. so wth is going on? it says conecting ad stops at authenticating and times out

I've XP and right now Status UNKNOWN, when Test 'll start to work properly? U need more pilt's to test and find bug's, and the same moment you kill any action of those pilot's cause mostly SiSi in a hell down... Tired of this situation, and I believe not only me...

Is the server down at the moment?
After spending an hour or so downloading the HUUUUUUUUUUGE client, and the patch, the login screen (after the directX "error") says

Well the client works more or less.. Even table rendering in IGB got faster somewhat.
But is it really necessary that every major update scraps all saved overview settings? I get tired of having to recreate them every time.

Well if I can get a gaurenteed time when the test server is up on monday I will try to login on the unicode client from my PC which is Windows 2000 Pro.
So far every time I've tried now (even when some of my corpmates said it was up recently) I get various issues, mainly 'timeout during authentication' and crap like that. no DX errors.
anyway, I'll run the logserver and file a bugreport, but that's about the best I can do, this is pretty frustrating at this point.
