I have just spent all day minining 0.4 sector for jaspet and had one of my alts ships blown out from under me in three shots and another one barricaded in a station so that it does not get shot at by the same jerks.
When I started playing you could mine in low sec and survive as long as you stayed alert. Nowerdays the jerks have got big ships with great weapons and unless you are also in a tank you are dead in five seconds.
It is killing the game, there should be a way to stop these killjoys, they can kill without any comeback. Alternatively create a new game for the boys who just want to shot everything and let them play with themselves.

Uhm, how the heck do you manage to die in low security if you stay alert? I mean the only possible circumstance is taking a hauler into a gate camp without checking and getting sniped =/

There is a way, its requires less whining and more shooting the people shooting you. -----

The point is it is difficult to shoot in a miner and flying my Apoc in is something of a waste, especially as I can not fit much ore in the hold.
Any better suggestions? "should my signature go here?" |

Ugh, so how did you lose your ship and how did you lose it?
Last I checked mining in low-sec isn't all that dangerous if you know what you're doing.

Do you not check local? If a minus sec player enters the system its common sense to hide if your not tanked otherwise its your own fault -----------------------

What is your solution then? Give miners god mode? No PvP unless you got your PvP tag up(Like WoW)? You do know, that this would not only ruin the pirates fun, but also the whole economy.

What ever gave you that idea? Keep an eye on local, make instadocks, fit WCS and you can avoid most hostile encounters. However, the very nature of low-sec prevents any guarantee of safety no matter how many precautions you take.
If you can't hack getting blown up, go and mine kernite in high-sec. --------------------------------------------------------------------

The pirates did not seem to have enjoyed it that much when I spoke to them. I could understand taking on a heavy assault ship or something else that could be a challenge but blowing up an indy, it's like popping a baloon. "should my signature go here?" |

Yeah, sort of like that, but with more lasers and smacktalk. And opening the can is like opening Christmas presents, but with less irritating wrapping paper, and no relatives ****ing you off. Also, you have no requirement to pretend you like the contents if it does not satisfy you.

I stopped flying expensive ships, with lovely mods, into low sec because the risk of losing them was too great and the insurance did not even cover the cost of the ship. Now I fly cheap old ships with stuff all on and they still shoot.
You really think that the only solution is to try turning into a bully too? "should my signature go here?" |

Actually, that's been done.
I hear it's very successful, but a bunch of idiots keep trying to get it changed to suit their needs

Are you mining in a heavily populated low sec system? If so, you may want to move, hostiles can hide amongst the crowd and jump on you before you've figured out who's who.
If you're mining in a backwater low sec system, then it's your own fault for not watching local and safespotting when someone jumps in.
Risk vs. reward.

I am a miner too and I do not want solo-mining in lowsec to be risk free. This is where you and I get to PvP via proxy. I mine in low sec with a team and live. You mine in low sec solo and die. I get better prices for the minerals because you bring nothing to the market.
This is the EvE way...everyone PvPs in some fashion. |

Edited by: Lucio on 03/09/2006 20:22:23 He does have a point, no matter how alert you are, a mining ship that isn't a fully tanked BS stands zero chance against a PvP setup and the haulers are also defenceless unless you have a top of the line T2 hauler.
Perhaps CCP should reduce damage across the system and make it more interesting for the victim rather than a foregone conclusion that the pirate always wins....

Like hell he can! No efficiant or semi-effeciant mining build has enough modules left over to form an effective offense against PvP'ers. ************************************************
Yes, I know I have a negative sec. status but I'm not a pirate damnit! |

good suggestion
Get some friends as protectors. Many pirates wont shoot if they feel they are outnumbered. Friends doesnt mean alts on different clients thats like knocking one out your friend is your right hand.
Dont play with 3 clients open its hard to stay alert when u have to concentrate on more than one client.
Leave your noob corp and join a real corp one that will allow you to do things together a little like first suggestion really.
As for ruining the game this has been happening since the dawn of eve its stil,l in there and it hasnt ruined the game expect it still to be in game in 3 more years.
Finally if you dont want to get blown up because your 3 clients are too much to operate effectivly and you are not able to find friends becasue of some difficulty that is unforseen by myself then stick to high sec.

A well prepared pilot has no excuse to get caught by anything but a covert ops cloaked ship.
It's all a matter of how paranoid you are.
I'll give you a hint, for those among you with a veldspar complex: your ship has a scanner. It is not just an offensive tool.

You mean a combat ship beats an industrial ship? OH GOD NO! GAMEBREAKING ALERT! TO THE NERFMOBILE!
Back in the time I joined Eve, and my corp used to mount low sec mining ops, we had this word that seems to have fallen out of use now. It was "guards"

it's not like you HAVE to go to low-sec, right? if you do, expect to be shot at. why? because ppl can. because it's how they play the game. next time bring a friend or two in combat ships for protection. or when ninja mining learn how to use local and the scanner. so... yes, low-sec and 0.0 is contested space. the strongest one gets the pie. or the smartest one? or...? definetely those with guns.
and tbh you should know that being almost 2 years old. it's pretty difficult to solo around so might as well recruit ppl for your private corp or join a real one... and why does it ruin the game if it has been like that for years?
