But i dident :(
lofty29 Asked me to help him out in a mission .
Since i am a nice guy i sad ok i wil help u .
He warpt me to a save spot In my 4 bil Navy raven .
His friends kild me .
Down below u can see the kill mail .
That ship was all i had and wanted it was my dream ship .
I dont had any other gools in this game then to fly in that
ship with those mods .

I for one am shocked by this new turn that Lofty29 has taken. If only there were some way for someone to know that such an honest law-abiding citizen could do such a thing.
I mean honestly. How does Lofty continue to do this? I'm not saying it's an exploit...I'm saying everyone, their dog, their cat, and that mouse their cat just had for lunch should know what Lofty does! I mean he publically talks about it. Everyone else talks about it. If you hadn't mentioned his name in your post the first reply would have been "That's lofty!".

i will give you some wisdom that was imparted on me when i started playing (i actually think USS Omaha told me...who knows) dont fly what you can't afford to loose. I have been playing since mid 2003 and have never had more than a 600 million though, so you won't get any sympathy from me...

In the last 3 months I have met 3 different 2 month old characters flying Navy Issue Ravens.
all 3 of them dumb enough to challenge me. I try to explain to them that buying ships they don't know how to use is a bad idea.
which brings me to my question... how the hell does a 2 month old character get the money for a navy issue raven??

Sorry to hear MMXMMX, i know how it feels to lose something really expensive, but the insurance helped manage to keep me afloat wouldnt wish that on anyone.
Although i might think Lofty is scum for destroying a players future in eve, 600mil is alot of isk and if i could be bothered to get 3 accounts up and running id probably do it as well.
I feel so dirty but id be rich too tho.

Petition it. See if a GM can figure it out and tell you if there's foul play involved. There are certain methods of forcing aggro on someone in high sec that are considered exploits.

Tell me did u ever leave high sec to make the isk u needed to get that ship and mods?
Or was it all aquired through running level 4 missions in high sec.
Lofty29 is certainly an expert at what he does although it surely is on the edge of game mechanics.They even recently changed the wording of the gang warning becauase of him as far as I remember.
The sad fact is that your a carebear who contributed little to eve during your time here and u wont be missed but personally I feel it is poor gameplay/game mechanics that allow lofty to get away with this.
Was this ship ever flown in 0.4?
If it is so easy to gank a billion isk ship and get all its mods in high sec maybe all pirates should go -2 and try this.

Lofty29 is certainly an expert at what he does although it surely is on the edge of game mechanics.They even recently changed the wording of the gang warning becauase of him as far as I remember.

Yes i run level 4 missions to make the isk to be in 0.0 en to get the stuff on that ship and to get the ships i need .
And yes i loose ships in 0.0 to and thats why i fly level 4 missions . I DONT LIKE TO STEEL MY ISK :)

As i expected, warring gang..if MMX had paid attention (WARNING: join warring gang) it could've been prevented yet it's still a rather lame attempt to ruin the game for someone who didn't deliberatly choose to put his ship at risk in a war or lowsec space.

Hey, it was an in-game mechanic that he used so it wasn't an exploit. Although recently CCP have changed their definition of an exploit to:
"to use the game mechanics in such a way as they were not intended for the purpose of gaining an unfair advantage over other players.."
So technically it was an exploit, however the same can be said for jet can mining, and CCP does nothing about that (but that is because it is balanced by the whole can thieving/can flagging trick)

well after reading through the posts.
*cough* omg your own fault isnt it?
1) If a player ask for help specially for running missions, never ever let him gang you up.
a) check his reputation
b) you form up the gang, prevents that you might invited into a gang.
c) have a look at time and gang channel / your UI, coz if 30secs over and
that "gangmember" is on the way to your safespot and suddenly get out of the gang, you
better warp off or be ready for a fight.
2) running a Navy Raven fitted with factions mods using Cruise missile launcher II and not
having T2 cruise missiles loaded...
3) running missions in Caldari space and not fitted FoF Cruise or T2 FoF Cruise ...

Exploiting game mechanics is synonymous with using exploits. CCP decides what is and is not an exploit.
If you define "exploiting game mechanics" as "using game mechanics in a way they weren't intended" you'd find that jetcan mining is an "exploit", as is sniping, aligning for warp, instas, carrier hauling, and more.

Sorry something about asking a guy for help, ganging him, then inviting an alt to your gang who's at war with your corp therefore allowing anyone in the gang to be aggroed is just a little past how everything was intended.
Whether or not it it's supported by CCP or not isn't my definiton of exploit. Logging out of interdicter bubbles is perfectly acceptable by CCP, yet I still consider you a exploiting logging off when you do it.

Actually, you are so wrong CCP do consider it an exploit if there is sufficient proof, but as it is, all you need to do is yank your DSL cable out and bam, you're off scott-free.

I've ganged nubs in low sec, just to have them warp to me/ me wrap to them to blow them up and pod them. It's a blast. Sure, you just get basic stuff, but the reaction you get when you scrambled them at a safe spot, when they think they are gonna help you rat, is hilarious.

You should petition if he invited the warring party into the gang after you accepted the invite since Im sure any GM with a brain will see its an exploit to try to skip the warning.

No, you can't. Because the average "nubbin" has to assume that any person who is so willing to help him, could just invite his war-decced alts and kill him. I'm certain you don't just ask for help on missions, but would be more than happy to offer your help to anyone who wants it. So, "just don't let the other dude open the gang" won't cut it, since any of the two could be the one looking for an easy gank.
Anyway, regardless of lameness, exploits, and whatnots, I fail to see how anyone could be proud of killing people by simply using racial jammers and the drones of the unhardened resist of your target. It's just like people getting all excited about their killboard stats after chaining npcers in ISS space - fair enough to kill newbies in ravens who don't watch local, but not really something you'd boast about.

Here's my thought:
Everyone knows lofty does this. He talks about it, it's not news.
If lofty wnted to be more successful he wouldn't talk about it. Also, he displays much better verbal and humour skills than your average bottom of the barrel griefer.
I think lofty's on a mission.
I think he wants to prove that despite everyone knowing he does this he can still get away with it. He's making a point about peoples' idiocy, not trying to get isk in the most efficient manner possible.
lofty works very hard at culling the stupid, and should be given at least some credit for it.

Anyways I really like to be killed by "Famous" people. Yesterday Blindman killed me, never been that happy before. I allmost got killed by Keta-Min (best name evar). And wierchas noobhunter killed me once aswell. If only Itsvaan or Sirmolle would kill me ..

Well its not really sacrafice, i try to defend myself, but i think the best part of this game is that you can meet anyone, anywhere. And its not like im stalking these guys, I think its just cool that i see them flying in the same system as me. I mean before i started to play EvE i allready knew Itsvaan, its cool to actually see them playing the game. Its like being shot by Madonna . And since im a forum ***** i got to know who's famous and such. Its also nice to find out first hand why these guys are famous and feared. And at least i can brag if I got to kill any of those famous guy's (if ever). Better then losing a ship to gate guns, which happend to me several times before.

I think lofty does an admirable job
we dont want noobs whining for help on local
we dont want want more players we want less so lag is minimised
we want trial accounts to come on die a few times so people like lofty can get warm n wet with their `pvp` kill ratio , then the noobs disappear to swg cs or anywhere else .
we have to give people like lofty easy kills so he keeps playing , i mean he failed as a proper pvp player but come on hes paid his subs so deserves easy kills ( he cant get them any other way ).
So any `noob` asking for help on local is either lotty , or a lotty29 wannabee , or a lag causing noob , so DO NOT HELP them , do everything you can to make their game experience as unpleasant as possible to try get them off the server .

THIS is abuse of game mechanics. In fact, it may be an exploit. I'd say it's legitimate if he's taking advantage of a player's temporary confusion, for example if he doesn't read the warning. It's not legitimate if he physically cannot resist it. This means anyone in any gang can be killed without warning just by the gang leader inviting some alts he has made that are at war with him.
Anyone who would say this is normal use of game mechanics needs their head checked. File an exploit petition. Lofty won't be banned, of course, but maybe the GMs can discuss it.

CCP and the gamemasters disagree with you, as usual there are no bugs or exploits in eve. Theres no lag either. And no logs. No wait theres logs but they dont show a anything. Right now of course, logs do show things in other situations. Sometimes.

That and they think entire fleets logging on in a single spot just as the enemy convoy passed by because they all felt like playing eve is a pretty good reason as to why login traps tend to happen.
Face it, when it comes to exploiting the GMs are worthless and CCP doesnt care.

Leave the Gang next time. It worked for a friend of mine. It might be a bug but concorde killed the Sneaky Varmit. My friend was a new player so the nasty deserved it.

Yes but the poster said that as soon as his friend left the gang, he stopped being a valid target. That suggests that as long as you don't attack back, you won't be flagged as a target to your attackers for agression but only for the war gang thing. So if you leave the gang, you're not a target and CONCORD step in.
At least that's how I read it.

If the person engaging the gang-victim gets aggro before they leave the gang there is a 15 minute agression timer, par norm, which is refreshed whenever the victim is attacked again. I guess you mean your friend in the machariel who lost his domination gear? I aggroed before he left the gang, then he shot my alt and got concordokkened. Concord always leave the best loot

Logging out of interdicter bubbles is legal at the moment because CCP can't stop you from logging out obviously. They want to change it so your ship doesn't automatically warp off if it's in a bubble though.
This doesn't mean the current logging out of bubbles isn't exploiting the system because it's perfectly legal in CCP's eyes to do so as of now. If you alt f4 out of a bubble, you know full well what it does, and you are using it to bypass the in-game mechanics.
The same logic can be carried over to this whole gang warfare. As the system works now, you can abuse it like lofty has. The point is, the system wasn't intended to be used that way, so therefore you are exploiting it, even if it's legal.
It's all about personal honor, I guess. In lofty's eyes being lame and using game mechanics against people is OK.

It's all about personal honor, I guess. In lofty's eyes being lame and using game mechanics against people is OK.

tbh the Guy that accepted to join a gang that was at war with another corp got the message warning him and he didn't care, so it wasn't a cheat/exploit he was warned and decided to not pay attention !! that make him a fool and should take more care.

THIS is abuse of game mechanics. In fact, it may be an exploit. I'd say it's legitimate if he's taking advantage of a player's temporary confusion, for example if he doesn't read the warning. It's not legitimate if he physically cannot resist it. This means anyone in any gang can be killed without warning just by the gang leader inviting some alts he has made that are at war with him.

Jesus.. I'm sorry to hear about this. Lofty29 is the crappiest pirate I've ever heard about. One time I ganged with some guy and he said he needed help, so the moment he warped off i left gang. wow, he was SO angry that i left the gang and didn't help him. He even said he lost his ship because i was being selfish. I wonder if it was lofty trying to pull one on me.
you see... guys like lofty are the reason why there's so little trust in the world and His kind is why we'll never get along. Ain't the future looking great?

Yes, it's highly unlikely that you will catch me via gang h4x, even though I do help nubbins quite often. But saying that I hide in High Sec is very very wrong. Ask unbrella alliance, Mercenary Forces and alot of random other people around essence lowsec / syndicate. I hardly hide in hi-sec, and infact I only do this to generate the ISK to fund my PVP style, aka taking an interceptor versus a gatecamp. Yes, I'm slightly suicidal.

Its a nasty way to do it, but even people who are 6 months old dont know who lofty is.
Its not like you get a nice popup once you create your account saying "Beware the lofty29", its always been word of mouth.
One person in your corp may get tagged by him and everyone knows about him.. for a while, then you get new people into the corp and its all forgotten about, then it happens again.
A lot of the time I see him using an alt to ask for mission help.
So thats it, you cant trust noobs or alts. You cant trust anyone. So we all have to play solo. Noobs will not feel eve is a community, and after getting no help (and the steep learning curve), will quit. Rabble!
Look at WoW, you can keep pluging into it without any worries about losing anything, no matter who your with.
In EVE you have to watch your back 24/7, there is no respite, even in the supposidly "noob/safe" areas.
Can flaging I can live with, I do love pestering macros.

I admit most people have a "click yes" zombie mentality, look at the times you install any software, do you read everything everytime? Nope, most people just click next... next... yes... next... install.
So seeing a gang invite for either Warring or Normal gang is a minor issue, with a major consequence.

The Lofty trick works by inviting a third player into the gang the instant you get out of warp.

I thought lofty's trick is to have the corp he asks help with wardecced by his main as anyone in a gang with a war target is flagged to that war targets warring corp members...there's just normally no way to see what gang other people are in.

Here is how you can win over these Lofties cretins.
You have alts or friends that are using a Osprey or similar ship that is specifically setup with Large Shield Transporters to push Shield regin.
You hang out in the locations Lofty gangs people and wait for him to invite you to the party. You accept and warp in. You leave the gang after he has aggrowed you and immediately gang your other alts/friends and they warp in and fix your shields. They can't be shot by the cretins or Concord comes to help out and these ships fix your shields faster then his crummy gangers can kill it.
I think lots of people should do this and eventually he will move onto something else as it won't make him any isk nor the jollies he seems to get from killing people.

Someone correct me on this, but last I checked, buffing someone in combat makes you vulnerable to their enemies. Is that just with criminal actions or would it apply to the situation described above?

The obvious has been covered already, but I'd like to know wtf mission the OP is running that requires a 4B+ ISK CNR ***and*** someone else to finish.
Hell, Tiller is in the Missions forum talking about doing most lvl4 missions in 15~25 minutes in his CNR solo. I mean... just wow.

No need to say it's griefing. One might wonder how unintelligent it might be to warp into someplace isolated with a stranger you just met. If anything, we could label the dead guy with some term that probably would be considered a flame term.

Tiller's CNR with full fittings was close to 4B too.
I think he had Gistii XL X-Type SB on it. That SB with the CNR are alone 2.5 bil, and as I recall he mentioned he had some low-grade crystals plus faction tank.
Too bad he was looking to sell it to someone who would run missions with it and that the profit margin for buying the ship + setup was kinda small ... :(

Loftys tactic have yet again been condoned by another senior GM as valid mechanics, so after over 2 yrs im cancelling my account.
Relly hurt hitting that button, but if this lame alt behaviour is condoned by the GM's then I dont like the way EVE is headed. |

Just what kind of hole have you had your head buried in since the launch of the game? And thats an honest question. Do you remember the earlier days at all? Remember m0o? (Just using them as the easiest example, there were others) If anything else the GM's have been making hisec in EVE (and all of EVE) safer from the lame(est) tactics since the beginning. You need to break out a history book or at least search the forums to find out about what used to go on before you spout off at the mouth like you know what you are saying.
EVE is and ALWAYS will be a harsh galaxy full of heroes (actually now that I think of it...anyone know who fits the traditional hero mold?) and villains. And those of you unable to use the tools given you--your brain and common sense--to protect what you have worked so hard to get then frankly, good riddance. But if your going to go, don't blame it on the GM's and the game in general, blame it on your inability to look at something from an objective view point and see that it's not WoW where we all dance around and hug trees. (Don't get me wrong...I love trees...so green...)
I am not in any way stating the GM's are and always will be infallable but ffs people, take responsibility for your own actions every once in a while, it will do you more good then you know.
ps. Forgive me for a post that isn't as well-thought out or as polished as it could be but I'm typing furiously at work to get it in before the boss walks in...so ignore the spelling errors too...

from an objective view point - I have no issue with lofty in anyway shape manner or form, it is the tactics I have the issue with. If you look on other posts I have been more than civil to lofty as a person.

There just seems thhis harsh rigidity about what they will and wont accept i think that the said tactics are a blatant misuse of intended game mechanics. Unless you are saying that the gang system was PUT there to allow people to be tricked into providing help for distruction of the ship???
