Isn't it obvious? This happens every patch day. CCP gives a patch time (1100 - 1500 today) that they fail to meet (obvious), and hours later (now past 1700), everyone's left asking "status update!?" and CCP drinks beer with our money, laughing at us.

More likely the server collapsed under the load of 20k people all logging on at once while it was still setting up chat channels, markets etc, and now the CCP team are frantically running abou trying to reset the server, test it's working correctly and relatively stable before they open the floodgates and let the server cope with the 20k people trying to connect again.

I hope you lost the lot. I mean, seriously, dude! If you've been playing long enough to have a barge you ought to know better than to risk them on patch day. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Originally by: Auron Adoma IŠm currently on a trial run and havenŠt decided to start paying for this game... Is the server always like this after a downtime??
A significant patch has been applied to the servers and client (something that doesn't happen very often). Sometimes they go in without a whimper but this one seems a little rough at the moment. Usually after the daily downtime (which is less than an hour most days) the servers are a little weak but it all settles down. Back to full strength around 90 minutes after a typical downtime. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Well as this is the information portal perhaps we can do two things :-
1. Clean up all the old crap threads about the previous patches, or at least move them somewhere else.
It's terrible when you click on the information portal and you're presented with 2,000 threads with 900 pages each !
2. Get some information on the current problems.

How long have servers been up now? I just tried (and tried, and tried, but still throttled).
And, honestly, I'd prefer WoW's queuing... at least you see progress, and you know that you'll get on, sooner or later. :P

Yes... That's EXACTLY what happened. All the devs installed a faulty patch, then decided to go for curry and beers paid through the CCP representation account. Right now, they're all sitting at a bar watching Frasier and laughing at all us silly customers.
Hey! Here's an idea? Why don't you go for a walk or watch your favourite TV-show or, god forbid, spend some time with real people. Then in the morning, you can file a petition for the two hours of your life that you will never EVER get back...
Seriously! What's with this crying every damn time we get a patch!? I could understand the grief if it was a matter of days, but seriously - we get free expansions and patches to fix what doesn't work without extra charge, while other mmog-players have to sell a kidney everytime a new unavoidable expansion comes out. JeeZ!

Yeah, but according to Epidemis up there, we get "Free" patches (which we of course don't pay a SUBSCRIPTION FEE for) to fix those pesky bugs ... like the ones CCP introduces which keep the cluster down an extra two plus hours after patches. :-)

Sorry to say it but GIVE THEM SOME TIME!!! I would love to see half the people in here complaining do anything close to what the guys at CCP are doing. I don't see you guys out there making and patching games, give them a break, taking computer science at university I can tell you coding and making sure everything can handle a 20K+ population is NOT easy!

Anyone seen my Hulk? Was happily blasting 'roids, or at least my alt was, and.... down we went again!!
Seriously though, these last couple of patches have been pretty poor. Problems all appear to be volume related and CCP do not seem to have been able to do adequate load testing before deploying the patch. Plus it does not look like the basic underlying performance issues are disappearing despite the amount of hardware being thrown at it. Hopefully they will have 'unthrottled' my access to the system now....

What? Are you serious? Reimbursment for lost time on your account? Huh? Do you realize what you're saying.
$14.99 for 30 days. That's $.50 a day. About 2 cents an hour.
Let me get this clear. You're bithcing because you feel you've been jipped out of almost 6 cents, at the time of this post?
Hmm that seems wrong. It would be stupid to do that. What about if we look at it as time?
30 days is 720 hours. Assuming the same 3 hours you're missing out on 0.4% (four tenths of one percent) of your total possible play time for the month.
Nope still stupid when you look at it that way. |
