I like the graphics although people are probably right the hexagons need to be faded a bit I sort of like the appearance. But it also seems like he just copied the old map (only way he could think ESA is still in Geminate) and added more detail where he thought he had more current knowledge, and left some detail out in other places. So it would remain to be seen if this were the only map how well he would do on his own. Also you should either shade the allies based on power block or make them all different colors, not color the BoB block the same but not the northern or southern blocks.

I'm all for more maps and from all perspectives
but that map hurts the eyes - can you get someone with artistic experience to work on it?

That looks quite sexy. If you can keep it up to date and keep it unbiased, you're on to a winner there.
Its always nice having multiple maps available. It means that you can keep each other in check- if one map changes to match a current event (territory change) the other can't very well omit it. --------

Very nice design!
Good work on making it impartial as well, long may it stay that way.
I'm sure keeping that up-to-date is not easy but competition to the eve map is always a good thing!

Plot the stars on top of the colors instead of behind and you can see the systems much better.

TBH I prefer the old one. Though it doesn't get updated enough. And has some innacuracies. I think the whole 'looks cool' effect of this one has been a more important design factor than functionality.
If you want a 'battlefront' map, this is probably the most accurate though. It's just too granular to give an accurate indication of territorial control.

Thanks for the constructive input guys!
This map is designed to be as impartial as possible and we will work hard to make sure it is maintained in such a manner. We are going to take all artistic input seriously and try to make the map as easy to read and useful as can be done.

I think another idea would be to make the hexes smaller, they are a bit chunky right now. Thats how I'd do it anyway.. This is just my artistic pickyness.

I really like the look of this map. However as others said, it is not good for covering every war in eve thus it this is only a good map for large scale conflicts like the current one.
PS: lol at exuro mortis... worse smacking alliance I've seen in a while. --------------

So, ah, if I move over green hexes I get +5 movement points, right? Or is that blue?
Nice map, though, but as was suggested (1) maybe tone down the hex display a bit and (2) you're not any less partial than Joshua, which somewhat defeats part of your original purpose. However, a faster update frequency is clearly a plus if you can keep up with it. Good luck.

As has been previously stated, this map will be updated on a regular basis, and this is not limited to just in game movements, this also means we will try to improve how the map looks, features, even a few technical functions which have not been tried yet.
Id like to thank everyone for their feedback thus far (both positive and negative), and encourage people to continue giving their opinion.
Further, as previously stated, we will endeavour to keep this map as impartial and as accurate as possible. For those calling bias, if there is any it is not intentional and again, if you feel that there is some misrepresentation on the map please post your thoughts so we can, if necessary, fix/modify/etc the problem.
And for those who've been saying they've seen this map before, yes, it was in Stalh's latest eve video which was released earlier this month.

This is a very nice map, I dig it.
It would be bit nicer for accuracy if you put in the alliance's who live in BoB space and are allied to Mr. BoB.
But other than that very nice, and thanks for putting in the work to make it.

Edited by: Menf on 27/02/2007 09:22:17 I really like the style of the map.
and i have alot of respect for people who take care of such project with all the endless work to do.
but do yourself and the map a favour and get people from the "other" side into your team so the map allways represent both sides of view.
otherwise the map wont be accepted and is a waste of time.
in every bigger ally there are people who support such projects. just ask them in a really neutral offer to work with you on this map.
good luck. keep up the good work. _____________________________________________

GL with the map project. Imho the most important thingie is the frequent updates. I don't care so much about slight bias and **** like that. The map is not the end of the world. But frequent updates to show stuff is happening is an absolute must imho, that's what makes it a fun feature and a community resource and that's where Josh has failed abit imho, he seems to think it's a boring but high profile job he is not putting 100% into. Or maybe I just underestimate the work it takes to keep it updated.

It is a nice map. Right to the point of what the anti-bob forces are up too. May not be 100% accurate but gives me a better mental picture of what is going on (besides numerous rambling forum posts and word of mouth). The hexagon is cool looking too. Tho I get the honeycomb pun. Giving Josh a little competition hehe.

Very good map,
just two things though,
ESA dont own any space anymore thats owned my CI last i checked. And if the hexagons where half the size you could add more detail to the bigger picture.
as a sidenote i think help from diplomats of alliances in major conflicts would benefit all, by them approaching you or vice versa.

Map looks nice, but since your from goons will the map remain unbiased, Joshs map is good but some of the regions are full of ****, for example Venal on both maps is claimed by d2, yet its a NPC REGION!!! Come on lads 0.0 or not its owned by Gurista Pirates. But agian the map looks very sleek.

No, look at your map m80, there are a few systems in Fountain (core) that have serpentis sov, but ALL the systems in Venal are Gurista Pirates
