But thats the whole idea of being able to scuttle ships, so the enemy can't get his filthy hands on whats inside.
You will find that it has also been done in RL navys in the past

Rather than risk getting stuck and losing all their implants (none of you can honestly say you would let pods be because of the bug, you all know you would destroy the pod all the same) many pilots chose to self destruct and then eject, the point here is not to deny a kill mail (which in all honestly means absolute jack as the ship is equally destroyed both ways) but to ensure they can escape with their implants. Self destructing the ship is just there to ensure that the enemy cannot steal it by boarding it but instead has to continue to shoot and destroy it rather than waste time chasing your pod about.
Self destruct/ eject is the only way to make sure your pod does not get stuck inside your own wreck.
Interestingly enough, this bug has led to the increase of more people using logoffski. Great work CCP!
Interestingly enough, self-destructing a capital ship still results in a wreck. I'm not sure how the person Dr. Slice is quoting here can use this "bug" as an excuse for capital pilots self-destructing.

thats another part of a pirates life :)
i am proud to serve under Gingers command, he has opend a door for me and his member to many kills
the first month i was in snowy, i got little over 400kill mails !
so yes, i would do the same if it had been my carrier that you guys were engaging
I agree! By all means, I have no problem with this. Just, in the future, CCP should deny insurance to people who self-destruct capital ships. Make it a little more painful, and thus a much bigger statement.

Karl, the guy I quoted is talking about self destructing, then ejecting to save the pod. Its towards the beginning of his second paragraph.

I'm sure when they scuttled their ships, they got insurance payouts too. More to the point, I'm sure that drug smuglers, etc when cornered who scuttle their ships get all the insurance money.

Wow well here was a long bile filled ride. I actually read the whole thing to make sure this point hadent been raised, then agian on page four I'm sure it will be missed :P
Anyway, yeah self destruct should void insurance, on all ships not just the big ones. That only makes sense.
Two, how is self destruct any less lame than stabbs? How is it that so many who will flame any stab/nano user who runs through the camp can so blithly say, "Well yeah we do it to **** them off."
LAME
but then again lame is also gatcamping blasting frig and shuttle after frig and shuttle and then whining when you get an unfair fight in return. There are no fair fights, period to be fair both parties would have to detonate at the same time.
And finally, if one thing in the forums is clear it's that the good folks in snow get all hard and fast breathy from flame, mails, posts... whatever. They were also big fans of stabbs and logofski by their own admission. So yeah lame, but whatever. To each their own.
Oh yeah and faked kill mail lame, but was deleted move on.

Edited by: Ginger Magician on 09/03/2007 10:53:38 It was well worth the loss of my carrier to see the posts of the MC lamers in this thread.Clearly this action has royally upset them as was my intention. And yes we shouldnt have lost the carrier and although the log in trap is a lame tactic it worked on this occasion. Will be interesting to see what MC does when I get my own mothership.I wonder how they will enjoy engaging the number 1 PVPER in EVE when he cant lose

Heh, funny. I don't think anyone in the MC is upset, the reaction most of us had was "lol" considering the stuff you threw at us in local a few hours earlier.
1) There was no log in trap. Waagaa heard that your camp was up again, and he logged in because he was still there. It took him 80 au to warp to you (not to mention the time it took to align), and then 10 seconds to put a point on you.
2) You're saying how motherships in lowsec are unfair and blah blah, yet you camp around with your Thanatos and sniping battleships, and kill things like cruisers and battlecruisers. Do they ever have a chance? No. Did you ever have a chance? No.
Karma baby.
Killmails are nice, but in the end irrelevant. The damage is still done. Until next time.

I really dont see anything wrong with creating the killmail. Without MC, Ginger wouldnt have self destructed. Perhaps the killmail should have Ginger shown as laying the final blow?
Now when will Ginger have a new Thanatos?

You read it here first, privateer alliance forge kill mails also.
Seriously though, why even bother... if you are actually any good at PVP you will get 1000s upon 1000s and the odd missed doesn't matter does it ?
Oh noes 1 kill mail missed OMGOMG
Just out of interest, when you create these fake mails, do you fill it with faction gear to make it look good ?

i agree with ginger on this one i know that we have had our fights aswell but to get a mothership and carriers to kill 1 person is way to much (oh and backup).
if he wants to do so then let him.
but i allso noticed a guy from mc say there was only 2 people, well we was next door and it sure didnt look like it was 2 people lol.
and mc for posting a fake mail that shows that they are just lame...
