Edited by: madaluap on 17/03/2007 18:29:44 What should be anti-boosted in your opinion? Im having trouble finding something new to whine about. Thanks for your input.
Recent whine threads: -Warpcorestabs anti-boost *check* -Speed anti-boost *check* -Amarr boosting *...*
Coming up?:
-Passive shield tanking nerf? -Nos nerf? -Dominix removal? -Energized adaptive membranes require 50 cpu?
Or other changes you can think of.

After all this I think tier 3 bs will be nerfed for having overpowered tanks with repping bonuses (You can't kill a decently fitted one solo without nos
But good list

Passive tanks aren't very overpowered for pvp since you need to use so many mid slots.
Nos... yeah. Nos alone aren't bad, it's using 6 nos with no real disadvantage. If a geddon wants to fit six nos it's left with 2 turrets and 5 large unbonused drones doing all the damage for example.
Dominix removal... \o/ I'm waiting for this ship to be nerfed...
I think EANM are fine... but since they are energized maybe they shouldn't provide that full bonus to energized attacks.
But I think ccp really did great with this upcoming patch. I'm looking foward to it being released.

Nos and the Amarr/Omni-tank issue is pretty much only thing left, except for BLOBs and quite possible bubbles, though not many have complained about them (perhaps because fast ships can mwd back to gate in most cases) - I'm a nice guy!! and OMG I love Team Tuxford for the speedbalancing... |

Why nerf the Dominix ?
It's the Nosferatus in the "NOSDom of Doom" that make it overpowered ...
And I suspect, seeing its bonuses, that it was never intended to fit those ...

I think a simple fix to Nos is to make them stack nerf. Extremely Stack Nerf 1st = 100% 2nd = 50% 3rd = 1%

You tell him Aragog my brother lost his eye from one of them ol frigate mounted guns (as well as the rest of his body an pod). Them buggers are dangerous, ye hear me DANGEROUS. One of these days it just might accidently go off on some rich unsuspecting carebear miner, an than when that day comes all I have to say is. I told ya so.

1. Sensor Dampners vs Sensor Boosters
Think T2 dampner with basic skills on non-specialized ship barely neutralizing a T2 sensor booster. Right now, it's *1.6 and *0.52 -> *0.832 with one of each, so a clear advantage of the dampening ship, even without any skills nor any specialised ship bonuses whatsoever.
T2 damps should be more like -35% or so, not -48% as current.
2. NOS (mostly, heavy NOS, but rest too)
Unlike any other weapon in the game, it does not USE any capacitor and at the same time ALWAYS hits "in range", and for FULL damage at all times. That's just screaming "overpowered" no matter how you put it.
Adding tracking values and sigradius to all NOS, even adding a falloff value and modulating crystals (more range and less drain, or less range and more drain), basically making them turret-like (without the need to fill a turret slot, but being affected by all generic turret skills and modules)... now that's one of the possible ideas.
3. Adding stacking nerfs on capacitor and shield recharge time affecting modules.
It would surely hurt passive shield tankers to a degree (the recharge-based ones), but it would also hurt all other forms of active tanking and even remote support (because all other tanks rely on capacitor recharge a lot too). It will however hugely boost the Capacitor Booster/Charge using ships in comparison (well, they'd be the same while all others went down in tanking ability). It will and also hugely boost all hitponits-based tanks.
Personally, I would see most of my ships suffer a huge drop in effectiveness, but I really don't mind. Combine this change with the previous NOS change and you have something interesting.

The idea is to fix NOS like EW was fixed, so that it isn't useless, but it's far less useful on ships not designed specifically for it. Curse still has a decided edge, but not everyone is running around with a ton of NOS.

Passive tanking isn't overpowered. To get that kind of tank, it uses all of someone's mid slots. This severely cuts into PvP ability. If someone decides to massively passive-tank, they can't PvP as effectively. If they want to PvP, they cut back on their tank.

I think that is precysely the intention. This game is not to be solo played. And even like they are now many people consider them inferior to the tier 2 and tier 1. They are pretty balanced.
Without any doubt the next thing that need URGENT nerfbet hit is NOS

You can nerf NOS but compensate boosting Curse bonus. That is pretty simple. The problem is every ship need NOS nowadays. That is stupid.

passive shield tanking doesn't need a nerf, since there's only 2 ships that can do it normally (Not counting the weirdass SPR Myrmidon), and both ships have tanks that are easilly defeated once you cross their regeneration threshhold with just enough DPS. Passive tanks are not for PVP, unless you expect massive amounts of NOS.
What needs a nerf is station-gaming. I mean the stupid 'I'll aggro you in front of an NPC station, then dock when I start to lose my tank'. The 1 minute timer really does not work, and a lot of groups in low and hisec 'fight' this way, that if they ever have a remote chance of dying, they either jump the gate or dock into a station. ~~~

Rubbish.
It should not take a 5 man well fit gang to take down a single ship.
With all other tanks, cap is life. THAT is what makes passive tanking overpowered.
Agreed on nerf station-gaming.

I think it's unfair that guns / launchers do different damage. We should normalize them, so everything does the same amount of damage. Do the same with tanking...so that shield and armor tanking is EXACTLY the same except that you need different slots.

Care to ellaborate on 'scales better' ? unless you use rockets as an example. And if you really need a skill for lowering your guns sig res by 25% when its maxed, go ahead and ask for it. And tbh in this game you shouldn't worry about smaller ships unless they 'swarm' ya

Scales better as in "you do more damage to smaller ships"
A Heavy Neutron blaster that cannot track a frigate does 0 DPS. A frigate that fits an afterburner will be able to out transverse any cruiser sized gun.
A precision heavy has an explosion radius of what? 75m? So it does about 60% damage to frigates? 1250 exp velocity so it does about 50% damage to most MWDing frigates?
So an MWDing frigate takes 30% of the damage from missiles.
An ABing frigate takes 0% of the damage from turrets.

Yes, trade-offs. ECM works better against smaller ships and worse against bigger ships[but still very well against bigger ships]. Damps work worse against smaller ships and better against bigger and slower ships. Same for tracking disruptors[larger optimal + worse tracking = nastier penalty]
You might be able to damp a cruiser from 20km to 5km[or 3km] locking range. But that doesnt matter as much because they can travel the distance in 7 seconds with an MWD. You can damp the locking range of a battleship from 70 to 10 and hold them there if they are unable to close the distance.
Smaller = worse for damps and disruptors. Smaller=better for ECM

500-1000m lock range + the fact that all those ships have drones to counter smaller ships + the fact that it takes 1 hell of alot of them to harm a battleship.. me thinks unless you have a fleet vs 1 that wont work :D

this relys on the fact that at no point do you move outside those 3km in the 20-30 seconds it takes you to lock + the fact you have the ships primary weapons engaging you and drones, and nos if it has it.

If you reduce the damp percentage then at the very least give them some actual range...
I dont see where the damp crying is coming from; sure if you stick 3 on someone he can't lock you from over 10km, but what ship has 3 damps, scramblers, enough speed to stay at range to prevent the lock and then the DPS to actually kill the target...
Seriously...
I look at them as a way to protect drones; not much more.

My 2isk,
Dampers aren't a problem in my experiences they seem to be about as effective as ECM (circumstances depending one is favored as has been noted), the biggest thing is just that now that ECM have been nerfed people are actually using them so people are also having to learn how to fight against them and plan for them in their setups.
Nos are a big problem. I can't find a single pvp ship in my hanger that doesn't have one or more fitted. I do fly amarr so I'm biased here... lasers take enough cap without every one is space stealing more. I've read a lot of good idea for how to fix nos and think giving them a sig radius and also putting utility slots on ships (say 2 or so for nonlogistics ships... obvioulsy curse and pilgrim get more... mabie all amarr get an extra given our cap problems...) are the best ways to fix the issue(sry to whoevers ideas these orgionally where I forget where i read this and am too lazy to track it down).
Omni tanks: lower the cpu requirment for active armor hardeners, and increase it for EANM.
Amarr: honestly I'm not sure there is as much wrong with them as most people say if nos and omni are fixed and lasers get a slight dps buff I think they will be fine as a race... though the Sac really could use some love.

As for damps.
They are very strong in one versus ones[or many vs 1] against larger ships that are unable to dictate their range against the damper or any other targets.
They can even be devastating with the proper application of high quality gang coordination and fitting.
But other than that, they are not as strong as people claim them to be. ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew" |

Yes, typically frigates dont kill battleships, since they dont really have the DPS to break the battleships tank. Same for a cruiser[unless more come]
There has always been the dynamic that smaller ships have a harder time killing bigger ships unless thing bring more ships. ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew" |

this game has so many possible combinations and so many different types of combat setups. 100's of thousands.
Just because a setup you had didn't work against someone doesn't mean that what the other person was using needs to be nerferd. I.e the 6 turret NOS ship.
A passive shield tank is the answer to an all NOS setup. If your shields are recharging super fast(not reliant on cap) hence no cap needed, how can the NOS ship hurt? Only with its drones or secondary weapons. Armor tankers can either train shield skills, to get a bit of variety in their setups, or too bad.
So if you have good passive shield tank/skills and nice outfit on drake, vs something with 6 nos, and only drones for damage, and you have some drones, your missiles and one or two NOS yourself VS the opponent who is an armor tanker... who will win?
If you can stack 6 rail guns without a stacking penalty, why not 6 NOS? There are setups to beat it as mentioned.

There are counter measures for dampeners and ECM, the modules are out there (sensor boosters, signal amplifiers, ECCMs, sensor backup arrays etc)
Just because some PVPers are using ECM/dampeners effectively doesn't mean they need nerf, people just need to look for modules that help.

- Nos, If nos is nerfed it might even be the boost amarr need since imho the biggest reson people use eanm is the cap vs nos combat. I prefer active harders but almost never use them since even with capless guns my cap will die vs nos way to fast and 2 sec later my hardners go off line and then you are ****ed even if your foe only using 3 light drones :( - Sensor Damps, just move them a bit closer to sensor boosters

Well they aren't much of chance based when you are in the optimal or within the optimal + falloff. The raven that dampened me on sisi 1 month ago was 130 km from me, and he had me perma damped for 5 mins without any breaks.
And how many Sensor Booster II's would you fit on a close range AC fitted tempest? I could have fitted 1, but tht wouldn't help me much tbh.

In other words you wasnt fit to deal with it.
Saying that you dont want/cant fit sensorbooster cause you have fitted for closerange doesnt mean the damps are overpowered... That mean you are not fitted to deal with that threat.
We can turn this thing the other way:
If you had been in your optimal, no matter how many damps he had put on you you would have targeted him and killed him easily. Does it mean that the AC tempest you where flying was overpowered??

Well, you couldn't have done anything to it then (and even targeted it) with your pest *anyways* even if it had no damperners
At > 45k damps work pretty much the same as ECM, one has at 100-120k about a 60% chance to work. Must have had all 6 meds filled with damps to have that effect on you (or have been very lucky). Thats quite a lot of meds to partly disable one ship.
I would agree through, that damps could use a slight nerf. Not a 50% effeciency reduction as some people suggest, though.

Tanking: Some peopple are bragging about having a unbeatable tank in 1 Vs 1, firepower from 1 BS is not enough to break it... Does it mean it`s overpowered??
And this thread is stupid in my eyes...

Would be nice if they reduced the amount of nos one ship can use to ONE. Only specialized ships should be able to use more.
One problem with this idea is that those specialized ships would get used more, any comment?

Edited by: NightmareX on 18/03/2007 11:54:41 Ok i have been on sisi now and tested this out again with a Bug Hunter that have maxed skills in EW.
First time he did use a raven with 3-4 t2 damps on me, and the we tested from 120km. From 120km he had me dampened all the time for like 4 mins. After that, i moved to 160km, but here the damps started to fail a little, i got some few secs break sometimes. And then from 170km, there i got more breaks from the damps, and could actually have a chance to fight.
And from this test, my Lock range went from 78km to 14km, and my scan res went from 120 mm to 21.98 mm.
The second test was with a Gallente Recon. And here we started from 120km again, and i had better lock range and scan range now than i had with the raven dampening me. But then the Gallente Recon moved into optimal range on the t2 damps. The he dampened me from 78km lock range 3.8 km lock range and 5.83 mm scan res. Not 100% sure on how many he t2 damps he had on me, but i believe maybe 2 or 3.
All of this is without Sensor Booster II fitted.
If this isn't overpowered, then i don't know. But in my eyes, that's waaaaay to much dampening only from 1 single ship.

Well, a rook with 3 multies has a 83% chance to keep you jammed from 0-108k. A lachesis has a 100% chance to keep you "jammed" from 3.8-45k. It's not really that different.

-Damps not so much a problem, IMO. Sensor boosters are pretty effective as a counter, plus they are still very usefull on a ship even if you don't face damps, unlike ECCM, which really has no use if you don't run into ECM. Maybe make it so 1 Damp will counter 1 SB and vice versa?
-EANM: wouldn't be an issue if resists were racially-based.
-Dominix: would be fine if it weren't for nos.
-Passive shield tanks: would only become a problem if they became massively used, as otherwise, their DPS output is generally quite pathetic.

Ehmm... so? You met a raven that armortanked and used midslots for ew, in this case dampeners? Nothing odd in that. You got a lockrange of 7-10km - just as expected with this perfectly valid tactic. Fine.
A lot of things can make you a useless vegetable on the battlefield IF you do not have the right counter. Thats EVE. Just because you, in this specific situation, could not counter what you met, and thought it was "no fun" (ofc not) - ccp should nerf dampeners? Right! *cough*
Dampened? How about sensorbooster? Or close the distance to your enemy? About to get nossed dry? Try injector, or nos back, or jam, or damp or... whatever..
It seems that there is always something proclaimed "monthly subject of extreme whinage" no matter what. Nos is fine. Dampening is fine.
I eagerly await the next logic step in this kind of reasoning: "It really hurts when i get hit with nasty pewpew - make ALL aggressive systems chancebased please!"

QFT Completely. I don't care getting my own setups weakened, if it makes the game more interesting and challenging. As far as Nos is concerned - definitely a stacking penalty. Perhaps in addition.

Funny... I do not share your opinion at all and guess what? I only fly amarr.
Nos is being used against you as a weapon, like every other turret, bay or ew. There are very good counters to nos and you are simply saying that no, it¦s not enough because you want to fit X and Y also..and probably some Z and it won¦t fit if you have to use that counter? Come on...
Even if you had 8 midslots on your amarrship you would NOT be totally protected against dampening, trackingdisruption, jamming and nossing... alongside having a total tacklingsetup PLUS speed AND everything else you¦d probably want in order to be a cheerful little pilot. All cap- and electronic warfare have the potential to mess you up big time, just as intended, and personally I think it¦s perfectly ok.
You mention nosdomi. What¦s the problem? Don¦t engage a nosdomi if you must rely on cap and don¦t have setup to ensure capfeed long enough to bring it down. There are amarr battleship-setups quite capable of ruining a nosdomi¦s day btw. Try thinking outside of your oh-so-tiny-box for a second plz.
Every ship has its ups and downs and suits better or worse for different tactics and situations. If a low amount of midslots bothers you and mess up your kind of gameplay it¦s alright to invest skillpoints in other ships.
One can not and sure as **** should not master every situation in every ship at all times! That kind of thinking sickens me and is the seed for all these "nerf blabla overpowered yadayada"-threads! Why is that?.. Is it ex-WoW players that found their way to EVE and just can¦t cope with the fact that in this game you actually have to use your brainmatter and that losses do hurt, a lot.
If CCP were to listen to all this we would soon have a eve|wow-hybrid where, after a fight, you wake up in Jita with a fresh nice clone.. all your sp¦s intact. The ship you lost?.. Nono! It¦s not lost.. you see.. it survived and got towed to your station along with all your modules except one.. repaired and everything, free of charge ofc. Just hop in and get back to where you were five minutes ago. Would that be the EVE you are looking for perhaps?

About using counters sure me and others have posted about using ECCM but ECM got nerfed anyway. So bite it like men and await the new nerf soon ☺
To the one who posted about rook vs lachesis EW comparison, the specialized ships arent as much in question , it's the NOT specialized ships using EW to great effect which are the problem

look i love the fact that no one ship/setup can do everything in eve, its the fun of the game. But I feal that if there is a certian mod and everyone is fittin' it is a good indication that that mod needs to be nerf'd and nerfing that mod actually help increase the veriety. evidence... lets look at the ecm nerf... now people are actually using dampers, tracking disruptors ect because ecm has been brough en line with the other ew. I want nos brought in line with the other weapons systems, if everyone was fittin' hybrids on everyship reguardless of ship bounses or desighn it would indicate that hybrids where likely overpowered and needed to adjusted. I'm seein' way to much nos out there and what annoys me is that i have to build ever setup around using it/countering instead of palying with fun anti- ecm/damp/tracking/drone/nos. over powered mods remove variety they don't add to it. ------- HROLT Personnel Director Even my barge has kills... |

Nos does two things to amarr/blasterboats, it hurts tank and gank. Thats more than another other weapon out there does, and it does it while benefiting the users tank/gank.
Before you get into some retarded examples, can you think of any other slot that hurts both your opponents tank and gank at the same time, while ontop of that giving a third benefit (cap)? Ok then stfu. What other module can knock out a cruiser/frigate class ship in one cycle, guaranteed when in optimal?

But while you are at it can you explain me why shield gets 0% to em when armor gets 10% to explosive? Can you explain me why armor repairers are easier to fit than shield repairers? Can you explain me why armor plates are waaaaaaay better than shield extenders? If you mess with one thing you mess with others too, you cant just nerf something and be happy. If a ship becomes overpowered with passive shield tank maybe nerf that ship, its shield recharge time for example. Point is that there isnt such ship anyway cause even if you get good shield recharge you cant do anything else like scrambling, webbing etc. So:

I dont see the problem with the Domi, as long as you nerf nos.
The teir three BS cost 60-80M more for a reason, that reason being a tank. Since nerfing nos wouldnt effect your ability to nos these ships, I again see no problem.
Drake needs to have it's shield tanking nerfed, Myrm possibly needs to have tank a nerf as well.
Titan needs to be nerfed tbh, if you have one deployed you win, basically.
Wtf at the EANM nerf? They already have a stacking penalty, and they only give you +15. It's already better to go EANM-DC combo rather than two EANM and leave the extra CPU, so yeah, wtf. Say what? |

Base Shield resists = 0/60/40/20 Base armor resists = 60/10/25/35
Shields have 10 less base resists, they have a passive recharge though.
Large armor repairer= 50 CPU and 2000 PG Large shield Booster= 100 CPU and 150 PG X-lrg shield booster= 200 CPU and 500 PG X-lrg armor repairer= Does not exist. IF this shows us anything it is that large armor repairers take too much PG where as a similarly scaled x-large repper would take 100 CPU and 8000 PG
800 mm armor plate = 1500 hp large shield extender= 1875 hp x-lrg shield extender= Does not exist 1600mm armor plate = 3000 hp
See the balance?
If anything is out of balance it is that both shield power relays and PDUs are both low-slot items, where as armor tankers have no equivalent mid-slot item. Then again shield tankers have by and large less mids than armor tankers have lows to counter-balance such things.
EDIT: Its kinda wierd when you look at it though.
50 MM plate =micro extender 100mm plate =small extender 200mm plate =nothing 400mm plate =medium extender 800mm plate!=large extender (the 800mm plate has 375 hp less, thats not in line) 1600mmplate =nothing
For some unknown reason the large shield booster gets an extra bonus to hp because all of the rest of the = means exactly that. they all give the same hp boost.

the only thing needs nerfing is nosf, and that is not the amount of cap it takes... BUT that it hurts small ships badly, it does need a sig and tracking its simple... nos is really not an omni weapon if it was it would suck everyoneÆs cap in a radius, which would be another interesting too O_o sounds like a new doomsday weapon haha
i think it would be cool to have more variety in doomsday weapons... for capital ships... not only titans :/ they wouldnÆt be dmg based BUT would be more like cap/ew or some other form... were some form of large energy discharge from the ship its self is set off that will effect all ships including its self to a degree
i would like to see a massive web DD, cap drain... ew/big ecm burst heh; they would be amount and or time based

Passive shield tanking is somewhat meh i think, heres why.
Most good passive shield tanks take alot or all lows and alot or all of the mids, therefore you cannot tackle use ewar or whatever, but sometimes these setups are designed to tank more then one ship can dish out, therefore either get a very high damage ship which could possibly be killed quickly,or get friends.
As for overpowered,i think nano setups are still alittle strong, nos is still pretty good but generally the game is pretty balanced as it is. __________________________________________ Yes it is great being amarr. I am minmatar, fly amarr, use gellente drones and am in caldari space. |

It has to do with damage controls and the strength of active components.
Basically, any shield tank that tries[active or passive], is stronger than any similar armor tank[and no they dont really have 'less slots'].
Passive shield tanks are much much much stronger than passive armor tanks. The reason that passive shield tanks are not overpowered is because in order to achieve that strength, they need to dedicate basically all highs and lows to the equation, which leaves the ship without any gank.
Losing gank for tank is typically an armor penalty. When combined with the typical shield penalty[no ewar/tackle and tank] you get a ship that only tanks. Which is great for specific applications[like tanking plexes], but not so great for PvP where a tanking ship that doesnt tackle, deal DPS, or ewar is just a waste of resources. ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew" |

I like the idea about giving NOS an optimal/falloff, not having them take a turret slot and giving them a sig rad and fall off.
Making them a like weapons that fire to absorb cap instead of items that reduce speed or stop a target from warping would be a great way to balence them out.
Another idea about NOS that I have read before is to give them a sig rad and then let the sig rad effect the ammount pulled from a given ship. IE a large NOS (sig rad 400) vs a BS would work normally, but against a Frig (sig rad 40) it would only have 1/10 the effect. Neuts wouldn't be effected by the change as they are already balanced.
While this would make a NOS domi any weaker against BS's it would definately work to level the playing field for smaller ships.

I say make nos a bit easier to fit, while lowering its power. Keep neuts the same.
Maybe if this happens, there will be a use for both neuts and nosses, because as it stands now, neuts are overshadowed by nos.

Hard to say really, what the next item is to be complained over. WCS and Nano setups are/were bad because they allowed for a near zero risk engagement. If you come to fight, you ought to commit to it. If it turns out you bit off more than you could chew, IMO easily running away from someone also fit to fight shouldn't be an option. Glad to see both setups go.
Damps are borderline. Maybe they could use adjustment, maybe not. The counter isn't as effective as the e-war module, but it's not as though the counter is useless in the absense of a damp, so while damps could potentially use a very small tweek, IMO they're just not in the same class of game breaking as wcs and nano/i-stab setups.
Nos... I'm not sure what if anything ought to be done to this module. I've seen some good ideas, and some horrible ideas on it. One of the best was having the module deactivate if an amount of cap sufficient to "power" the nos wasn't available in the target's capacitor. Maybe toss in having the module inactive, and unable to be reactivated for another try until the cycle time expires.
Rather than seeing anything nerfed next though, I'd rather see some things fixed. Amarr cap issues, and maybe, if I dare to dream, a target painter rework. Nixus quod virtus es non satis vacuus voluntas quod procuratio

I Would... reduce all NOS range, by HALF! And make it reducce your own cap if the enemy is dry and you are nossing him...
Nos problem solved..
Reduce a bit the effectiveness of Dampeners.. just a tad bit. A Non Dampener bonuses ship should not be able to scramble and keep any BS out of engagement chance. Just adjust that 3 dampeners will leave any BS with at least 22 km lock range.

Just so you know, the reason I personally passive shield tank (which I hate doing but I feel I am pigeon-holed into this decision) is the excessive amount of nos thats out there.
Id much rather active tank and have slots for mwd/web/scram/EW/anti-EW/speed/other frivalties, but I cant because if I do I get OWNED by some nos-freak with his 6 hi nos.
NERF NOS!@#!!#! Anyone who doesn't think nos needs to be nerfed clearly doesnt realize how badly it pigeon-holes other people due to it's popularity. It completely takes out the aspect of CAP from the game!! Who the hell wants to get rid of Cap entirely? Might as well be playing with ships without cap, get rid of all mods that use cap, and have some dps/passive-tank fest game without any depth!
Sure nos should be in the game but its horribly overpowered, you shouldnt even be able to take all of someone's cap, make it percentage based, based off signature radius, and also reduce the amount nos'd per cycle. It's not right to be able to drop someone to ZERO cap and keep them there.
In wow a priest can mana burn you very effectively, perfect example is a priest vs pally duel. They could mana-burn you to zero but the feasibility of them keeping you at EXACTLY zero so you could do nothing with your mana was miniscule. Because the mana-burn amount might be 600 mana, they arent going to cast and use their mana to remove only 300. Make nos require something per cycle, maybe make it DAMAGE YOU.
This would be fair. Slight slow damage per cycle so you have to think when you want to burn cap with your 6 nos. Granted the cap might out-weigh the damage in tanking possibility but it would get rid of the excessive 6-hislot nos builds as it would hurt their tank more than working their cap positively rather than working their opponent's cap negatively (ie using a cap booster/battery/whatever).
If heavy nos did 20 damage a cycle (which is really pretty negligible) people wouldnt just leave 6 nos'es on a target thats at zero cap. |

im a Gallente pilot and fly my dominixes and other droneboats. but this concenrs me a lot:
well i guess NOS need to be made less crucial for pvp. non-nos ships are otally screwed from heavy nossage. imo the capwars should be fought with full dedication ergo with cap destabilizers instead of nos which are curently the sollution to all ur probs in the most situations.
nos are a utility tool to get capacitor for u to use instead of killing the opponents capacitor to a insane extend.
imo nos should deactivate once ur own cap reaches 75% or have a longer cycle time in order to not totally disable the fighting ability of non-nos ships. if u want to fight a cap war and intend to hurt the enemy by killing his cap u should use destabilizers and risk killing ur own cap aswell.
cap wars should be highly uneconomical in terms of capuse. cap is very important to all ships and therefore should be fought over by risking ones cap aswell.
i love guns and tactical application of modules. nos are currently tactical superior since it does not have any drawbacks compared to a active weapon system like the destablizer.

Recon cruisers with multiple sensor damps are pretty ridiculous. Think Pilgrim with 3x NOS and 3x T2 sensor damps, and two armor repairers in the lows. You can fly around until you find a solo ratting target. Orbit at 10km, web, scram, and turn on your damps. He can't lock **** and is helpless.
This is VERY difficult to counter. If he calls in friends, you can immediately recloak since you are not locked. If he has a sensor booster, with two armor repairers and 3x NOS you stand a good chance of draining his cap dry and deactivating it before he can kill you.
Basically, to kill a player doing this, you basically need to have either a sensor booster equipped AND friends who can come help you on very short notice, or have booster, 2+ Heavy NOS, web, and scram equipped to kill him.

i fail to see a problem with that. solo ratters in 0.0 who cant call for quick backup always die when a random solo pvper comes along. Recons should be able to get away and hide easily, that is their only advantage. If you force a solo recon to engage anything other than a solo target where it has an advantage, all it can do is run away or die.

I don't think I've seen any calls for a dampener nerf since they had infinite range...
Since they haven't changed in a looong time...why the sudden rabbling about them?
What's catalysed this sudden spate of nerf demands? Boredom? Running out of things to complain about? Noticing them on market and thinking "hmmm, what do these do?"? Inability to see the counter?
Please enlighten me; as far as I can see they work the same as they always have done.

anyway taking (read nerf) a battleships only defence other than light drones for killing small ships is a bit harsh, if you choose to fly within its range and you are the only tackler then you have to accept the fact that you will loose the odd ship... same as if you do pvp at all
and if you insist on being in a intie jsut make sure your not the only one and that you dont get in range of the nos.. think that will solve the problem dont you think

There is a counter, the problem against dampeners is if you don't have the counter fitted, you're WORTHLESS. As in, you can't do anything. Against one ship with ECM you can still get a target some percentage of the time. Against tracking disruptors you can still target people, use NOS, and send drones.
If you get sensor damped and don't have boosters equipped, you can do nothing. You can't acquire targets, you can't even order drones to attack anything. Sensor damps also do an excellent secondary job of breaking you out of traps, target the inti that's scrambling you and turn on your dampeners, three damps against an inti will cut him down to <1000m targeting range and break his lock and the web. If he flies next to you, it'll take him minutes to retarget you with the dampeners trained on him.
NOS Pilgrim with 3x Dampener is autowin against any ship that doesn't have boosters AND multiple Heavy NOS equipped, and the cloak means you can pick only vulnerable targets, go straight through gate camps, etc.

Yes nos and damps are ftw, but only against a solo target. If tracking disruptors affected more than just turrets, like say missiles and drones, we'd have more of a reason to use them.
The thing about damps though is that the counter is actually useful other than just being a countermeasure. Sensor boosters are always useful, unlike eccm.
IMO leave damps as they are, but make tracking disruptors more useful and give eccm some other bonus in addition to just countering ecm.

As for me against inties i can say the the same thing happens to the inty im fighting,if im in a cruiser it might be a different story that results in if the inty pilot is smart or not...In a bs there is no possible way an inty could kill me unless theres alot of them or my eve freezes up etc.. __________________________________________ Yes it is great being amarr. I was just saying that as a counterpoint to saying that missiles were worse than turrets. They arent. They are better in some situations, and worse in other situations.
As for damps.
They are very strong in one versus ones[or many vs 1] against larger ships that are unable to dictate their range against the damper or any other targets.
They can even be devastating with the proper application of high quality gang coordination and fitting.
But other than that, they are not as strong as people claim them to be.
I'm not so sure. I mean, they also seriously increase your locking time. Between maneuvering to close, and the long time you spend locking, I've found the fight tends to be pretty much over at that point. And yes, frigates don't have this (as much, anyway, although they do still have to come very close indeed to be able to lock at that point) but cruiser sized up certainly does.

Nos Nerf - Probably. Make them like turrets, and subject to the same restrictions and bonuses. This allows Inty's to tackle BS's again, but doesn't allow Inty's to solopwn BS's. It also doesn't completely scr*** the <strike> Curse </strike> Amarr.
Sensor Damps - Not so much. The only reason people are crying about them is because they can't see the obvious counters, and they succeeded with ECM. Let's take all the brains out of the game, and just mash F1-F8. Anyone who can find those keys quickly can be a winner. Lame herd mentality.
Passive Tank - WHY? There are only four ships that do this well. The Drake (mission running.. whoopee). The Myrmidon (weird PvP ineffective fit), The Nighthawk (PvP ineffective while passively tanked, effective when active tanked) and the Vulture (the lone ship effective in PvP with passive tank, acting in it's role OMGNOTACTINGWELLINITSROLE NERFFFF!)
Boost Amarr - A little. Like, rework lasers so they are comparable in utility to rails and blasters.

The dual locking time + locking range reduction is a bit too much IMO. If you screw up and your target gets too close you still have plenty of time to bail out due to it needing ages to lock you. Also, due to their HUGE falloff damps are IMO a a bit too effective ECM alternative for longrange EW for up to 150-160k.
Oh, and damp spec skill lvl 5 at 9% Although I recently paused it to train up some leadership skills.

This is how I feel EVE is now. Won't say its necesarrily bad, if the other player is euhm someone like Ms. Kournikova. But I would rather see some more conversations being carried out by the guns...
PS.: This post has some (slight) exaggerations, and I know balance is tricky thing, but for Amelia Valkiery's and her two alts sake, don't make the game an "Einheitswurst" where everything is the same. I picked gallente for a reason, after reading its description.

Going by Vandrions statement, the logical conclusion is that NOS does not have a limited amount of slots, it just needs a high slot to function. To bring the NOS back into balance the Devs merely need to make a limited amount of "Utility Slots" that can only be filled by Nos/Neut so that an entire rack cannot be filled for complete cap sucking power. Curse and Pilgrim would remain the same because they are NOS boats. Also, make damps only worth while on Gallente specialized ships. ------------------- ნỊs uʍop əpỊsdn |

Nos itself is not the problem, while a stacking nerf would certainly solve the problem;
I think a better all round solution would be to reduce certain ships drone bay sizes. Leave the bonuses intact on the ships that have them (since they are clearly meant to be drone ships), but a reduction in the size of the drone bay would make losing drones much more costly.
It won't matter how much or how long you can nos if you lose your drones and as a result DPS. If you look at all the ships where NOS is overpowered, they have one thing in common is they are drone boats (at least the ones that are overpowered in solo pvp), besides if you nerf nos, people will just adapt to some neut alternative or some such. I dont think that anyone would make the argument that there is a drone boat that is currently underpowered.... - Haradgrim [-WB-]

Nos still takes the top as the most overpowered module, the fact that you can fit as many as you want makes it ridiculous, i wouldn't mind seeing a stacking penalty, thus removing capacitor-warfare.
Just my 2 cents..

Umm, id say half all hp and remove rigs. Theres some mods that need fixing but nothing overwhelmingly ridiculous.

Lol.. I don't think I have many ships that use nos.. I have one on my vagabond incase i screw up and get webbed so i can counter their nos and mwd out .. and I think my tempest has some nos on it.. But those are only 2 of like 12 or so ships that I pvp in.. something seriously wrong with peoples setups if nos messes you up that bad. You either need more cap regen or you are somehow being pwned by dominix drones while its nossing your cap to death. There aren't erally many other ships that can do good damage with 2 guns and 6 nos :P not enough to make your cap suffer anyway. I outtank drones and 2 guns even with 6 nos on me any day on my tempest :P Unless they're in a domi with t2 heavies, then i'm in trouble.

The hull on freighters should be lowered to, say, 10 percent of its current amount.

And then the only thing worth fitting would be, gank and tank. MWD towards target activate webber and all guns and tank. Wait for fight to end. Sounds fun indeed.

threads like this make me cry a little but
NOS needs a nerf, 1 per ship or a good stacking penalty
Domi? Fine if NOS is nerfed, for all it's great drones it's grid sucks.
Damps, stacking penalty and/or a true counter module ECCM is a true counter to ECM but SB's are not a true counter to damps, 1 SB counters 1 damp, how much ECM can a ECCM counter? ---------------------- Rank: Tech 1 and a 1/2 cannon fodder
