Someone a while back had a sig which read "You are not your ship"...sorry, but by definition, I am. You may THINK it's the squishy thing in the pod that runs things...I know different. It's a real bind downloading myself onto a CD when I have to change ships though.

I was tinkering with the portrait for this character and my wife walked past and said "who is that supposed to be? he looks a proper charlie"

Ironically I have ended up in a Russian Alliance, yet I myself have no Russian connections at all. I don't speak it, I've never been there and I don't know any Russians.

Usually, I use my common nickname Crabby which has been mine since 3rd grade. But hence it didn't sound right in EVE, I used another word I have come across on wikipedia.
In some article on magic, which I studied whilst i was playing wow (just for the sake of it ), there were a reference to a latin term, now extinct of course: Sortiario; he who change/affects fate. I have been looking ever since for that article with the reference, googled it and such, but i haven't found it yet. I believe that the term is correctly referred.

I used to play freelancer a fair bit under the handle Optimus Prime. Then one day I joined a server where that name was taken and took on the name Voltron. I joined eve shortly thereafter and had gotten used to Voltron so it stuck.
Kinda *** that I seem to identify with enormous robot heroes eh?

How I came up with the name there? No idea!

Dahak being a character (self-aware starship actually) from my favorite book trilogy of all time, and 2150 being one of my favorite RTSs, Earth2150.
Usually I go Dahak if I can, but in this case it was taken by a 2 year old mines-veldspar-in-a-badger-never-left-the-noobcorp alt.
That irritates me.

Interesting... come to think of it, I name my ships in the same sort of way he does.
But about my name: I'd just put together a name for a character in Sid Meier's Pirates! when I was choosing my EVE name, and I'd ended up with 'Marcellus Rhodes'. I'd been trying to get a name that sounded a little archaic and a little buccaneer, and I just took off the Latin-sounding 'us' and recycled it.

I've always related my handles to what I loved doing in such games, but at some point most people will know you by that name and you end up losing your reputation over and over again.
I was using the nickname 'AerO//' when I played BF2, because I prefered flying over anything else, and I was playing BF2 in the time I started playing EVE. The 089 is derived from 1989, my year of birth, as 'Aero' was abviusly taken ;)

Was watching "Harvey the invisable rabbit" while making this character.
Pooka, an only slightly mischievous version of the creature from the stage play and movie Harvey, in which the title character, an invisible six-foot-three-and-a-half-inch rabbit, is described by the movie's main character Elwood P. Dowd as a pooka. The character Mr. Wilson reads the definition of pooka from the encyclopedia: "P-O-O-K-A. Pooka. From old Celtic mythology, a fairy spirit in animal form, always very large. The pooka appears here and there, now and then, to this one and that one. A benign but mischievous creature. Very fond of rumpots, *****pots, and how are you, Mr. Wilson?"

Long story, comes down to this:
back a few years ago me and some friends were forming a new clan in Enemy Territory, tag was {LsD}, we also decided to get new names and to stay with the drugs theme i picked Trippy as my name.
Then when EVE came that nick was already taken so i placed an X behind it.

Few years ago i was part of group that wrote cyberpunk-genre larp wich was based a singapore. One of the gangs in slums where people didnt have any rights was called chromers as they were gun dealers and kind of speedboat gang with chromed decorations.
I eded adding the "one" to the end as i tought this would be just practice character but i ended to Finfleet and no way gona scrap this anymore.
