I'm having the same problem and it is Jita related, I have now been trying to get in for 90 minutes. Considering this is the first online game I pay monthly to play, I'm starting to consider whether I made the right choice.
Can't complain if I don't pay but as I do then I expect a certain level of service and at the moment, that is not being fulfilled.
If there is a known problem in Jita, why doesn't something get done about it? Even restricting the amount of ships in the area if needed while the necessary things are sorted.

People loose ships & items due to the lag, yet when petitioning the lag issue for a possible reimbursement, the answer is simply "Server logs show no error".
Well they wouldn't, given that the logs record what happens.
But looking at a ship, that has according to the messages you have recieved already been destroyed, because you have had no way to return to ship the 6 km to the jumpgate, then when trying frantically to at least get your POD out, you stare at the same recently deceased ship image, and no jump is possible, for minutes on end, even though distance to gate is less than 200 meters...
Lag is causing grief in abundance. So, Please get it fixed and stop stating : "We hope you quickly recover from your recent loss...." because in the end, it will be your loss, for loosing a large portion of players, due to repeatedly refusing to acknowledge that the lag issue is causing people to loose a lot of their assets in this game, and by that, the joy in playing it.
To be honest, if I finally log on after already trying for 90 minutes and I have lost my ship and loot, I will be cancelling my subscription straight away and moving to another game.

The Geminate region has also been lagging extremely badly in the last few days. I had to stop playing two days in a row.
The problem did not occur in empire. |

Yup same here... Jumped to jita from Perimeter and never appeared on the other side... now I just get black screen.
If Jita is that bad then CCP should lock down the gates. I was playing fine until I went there.

may i ask one thing... what the heck did you code in or add with bloodlines that so totally borked server performance? right after the new hardware before bloodlines it was a dream. then suddenly jump queues appeared, you added "load balancing". performance went downhill. is it so hard to examine what you added in the dragon code branch that ****s up everything?
are you ever able to get server performance stable and playable? there are still major lag issues and database fubars frequently. are you sure you want to release "heat" and other stuff? surely, content creators can contribute something to server performance as well even if they are not programmers, database experts or QA people. --

I thought this thread was for actual factual input to solve a problem. If indeed it is, my statement is this: I have experienced increased lag (yes I know what it is) in the past 2-3 days. I live in Virginia on the east coast of U.S.

Hear this one...
I can fly through Saila (or whatever its called) and Jita and not lag only when I'm going stargate to stargate. When I want to go to a station in Jita then I will lag and undocking is even worse than docking.
I found no lag in 0.0 when I was in 0.0 unless we're dealing with large numbers of ships (fleet stuff) and that seemed to be somewhat client side as it seems that if you're zoomed in 100% you will receive plenty of FPS drop and if you zoom out this will help and that doesn't mean that there isn't lag from the connection part of the issues.
I don't understand WHY 500-700 people (genuinely 500-700 people? or are half of them alts of alts of alts of alts and mains of alts of alts of alts... etc the list goes on). Why can't anybody spread out? The galaxy is so huge go somewhere, make a new home! Jita isn't the ONLY place to create a major trade hub as it seems to have everything why not have a major trade hub in every empire sovereignty rather than JUST Jita?
I think part of the lag is contributed to the fact hundreds are just station sitting and driving missiles into people in front of stations (that too contributes to lag) there should be a zone around the stations extending say 10-30km that you cannot target another ship or cause any harm. Getting the combat away from the stations would help the lag as well.
Lag is caused by data flow between other clusters and nodes, if you have a large amount of traffic using one gate you're going to get lag there, much like Jita 4-4 where 300 peeps are inside 200 are outside good grief.
I don't even hang out at Jita, have no reason to and if I want something from Jita I'd go get it if it weren't laggy and then I'd leave I don't stick around unless its my home station which it isn't and it won't be ever (even if the lag is gone).
creating multiple servers would also reduce the lag but would create lots of empty space on every server there would not be enough of the playerbase to cover most of the systems so this is good and bad mostly on the bad side.
I don't really think I've lost my ships to any serious lag though I have seen weird things like when mission ratting and I go to warp out and the npc rats are still attacking me I'll get blown up when I'm already IN warp and about 1/4 way out though my screen is still moving not stopped so I don't think this is a credible lag I expect lag to more like stop the action (which happened to me when I got gate camped and podded there cuz I couldn't do anything but stare at a frozen screen with my ship shrapnel all over the place.
And you might be surprised I can play this game quite well on dialup and I get the same amount of lag if not better or worse in some areas which is partially why when I get blown up by npcs somewhat halfway into warp doesn't construe the fact its server lag because it probably isn't. And I can tell when the lag isn't contributed by my own connection which I've said before... Jita.
People, there's a WHOLE FREAKING UNIVERSE... MOVE!!!!! <mg src="http://www.thenetdude.com/siggler/rotate.php.jpg"> |

I too am stuck in black screen. I tried to jump into Jita today, and am stuck at the black screen for about 4 hours now.
I also got screwed a couple of days ago in skill points. I podded myself, bought a new clone (with about 4 million extra skillpoints) and then died. I lost a few hours on Battleship 5. My journal entry clearly shows the purchase of the 19 mil SP clone about 10 minutes before I was podded (I only have about 16 mil SP).
A few hours isn't that big a deal, but last time cost me about 5 days.

Thats what i asked, my problems didnt start until after bloodlines was introduced. Admitedly there have been some good stretches, but they seem to be fewer and farther inbetween these days.
Also the person talking about everyone spread out, excellent idea, however everyone sells in jita.. it kind of makes it hard when all sellers want to sell at j 4-4 and most people flock there to buy as well. ( however they did mention that delivery system for goods somewhere when you buy them, that might completly solve that problem for a few extra isk to have the items show up where i am )
Also all these anchored security cans in high sec empire space, ever warp into an ice belt with 100 cans there? the lag is horrendus. this has to have an effect on overall performance across the system as each belt sems to be riddled with them in empire. Perhaps limiting the amount of cans put up by individuals/corporations in high sec empire space ( while low and 0.0 would have no limit as these are important for people operating out there without pos, for ammo storage or loot storage ect )
Whatever it is, eve is itself a great game, but it certainly has a hamster not running full speed in the wheel somewhere. If we could get back to pre bloodlines stability you would never see my subscription lapse.

For a thread that's supposed to have information in it, it seems to be lacking any kind of CCP presence for the 28th.
You can bet I'm pi**ed off. It's just not reasonable to give NO information. An ETA would be better than the 'happy BS' of 'we're working as quickly as possible'. Get L3 to give you an ETA or shift your ISP. Chuck a half brick in canary wharf, you should hit three.
I *love* this game, but you can bet I'm telling people about the performance issues over the past ten days. Someone needs to point out to Oveur that his need for speed is grinding to a halt.

The main issue right now seems to be hardware, it's broken and needs to be fixed. I'll post and ETA as soon as I can.

Well I know a couple of us including myself mentioned spreading out... you know you don't ACTUALLY NEED to sell in Jita just to sell... you can sell in one of the thousands if not millions of stations in the game Jita isn't the ONLY place you HAVE to flock to.
Heck thats what COURIER contracts are for... USE them more.. and PAY BETTER rewards then you might actually see more of a varied market rather than buyers and sellers flocking killing a node people would move around more and do more that way.
This need for speed thing is going to kill courier traders. <mg src="http://www.thenetdude.com/siggler/rotate.php.jpg"> |

You guys always keep saying your hardware is broken... this has been going on every time there is an announcement that lag and hardware issues... seems to me "hardware is broken, we need to fix it" and then when you do... it comes right back to the same problem... you know what that leads me to?
You didn't fix the problem after all.. you just keep shoving broken hardware in and hope it lasts just alittle while... I wonder if CCP even has any money? Where did it go? Did you spend all our subscription money on CEO and CFO Holidays?

I tried to autpilot to Jita... I was stuck at the stargate going from Perimeter to Jita (I could move the mouse around, but no buttons worked, i could not right-click anything). So i logged out and when I log back in, I am stuck at this screen:

It seems like a lot of people are having problems with this specific area of Jita.

The discussion seems to concentrated a lot around Jita. I say let Jita be swallowed by a black hole. If people don't get out in time.... Them too.
Can it be so hard to allocate more resources to that system, when half the playerbase (traders) seems to insist on hanging out there?

So, reduced hardware started 2 weeks ago? Any updates?
Introducing heat is a BAAAAAAD idea before getting the lag under control. Who is going to want to overload a mod, when the odds of getting lagged before you can turn off the overload are so low?
Why add time-intensive stuff to a system that you already KNOW is a lagfest?
I have toons who can't even log in for the past 2 hours. On a day off, when I have time to play.
Just gets better and better.

because gaming mags and new players dont concern themselves with lag to much, but the shiny new features and the PR are the thing that drive new customers ( even if they only stay for a few months get fed up and leave) the whole business of rushing and skipping over gameplay issues is entrenced in eve. Its all about the moola. It is starting to bite em on the backside now as a lot of older players are moving on
