got the same response, twice. finally got to 0.0 with a good alli and the first big fleet battle was a slideshow. after all the false tracks of what this game can supposedly do but just does not deliver on, this was the last straw. too many things in this game don't work as advertised. waiting and regretting paying 3 months in advance.

START a 2nd SHARD !!!
Please tell you will someday give up this 'One Sacred Server' non-sence and open another shard every 2-3 years.
Besides - One Size does NOT Fit All !
Another shard or two with slightly more or less PvP would boost your revenues and EVE Online would still probably hold the world's record in any one shard.
Example: eBay was built on junk auctions, but they enjoyed further growth by allowing ''Buy it Now'' pricing, ''Power Sellers'', etc.
Empire Lag is not the only reason many players quit EVE, the idea that so many other players are 3-4 years ahead in skill points ...
I'll stop now before it's all just ranting, somebody Eve-mail me in game if there is a petition or thread just to beat on this ''One Shard'' issue. It's nuts to me.
by the god on Amarr, let 5 years be enough, START a 2nd SHARD !!!

Announcement:
Due to decreased server hardware while tech support is attempting to remedy the problem, perhaps players should get over their sense of virtual geographic entitlement and FIND ANOTHER FRELLING SYSTEM TO HANG OUT IN!
Maybe even avoid lowsec or high threat areas until your system's performance improves to where your functionality can be ensured.
Nope, common sense, it'll never work.

It is sad to see a great game like this lag as it does. I could not even log in yesterday as I needed to get through Jita and the client stopped. Maybe it's time to find the cause of the problem instead of saying it's fixed again, a reboot does not fix software

CCP - Crowd Control Productions; (Hint: It's in the name)
I want to believe in your continued dedication to the EVE experience. So please, stop the rigid fobbing off we receive from customer support over lag issues.
By all means, refuse to acknowledge the problem exists, refuse common sense and all, but just get on with it and give people their stuff back or whatever needs to be done to rectify issues caused by lag (un-completable missions for example).
Yours, a long-time player and EVE addict. _________________________________________________________

Well, if you want to loose some lag... Pull the plugs that go to China! 1 billion possible lag producers less... And 80% of them aren't playing anyway, they let programs do the mining and pickup... --- The future begins now - in EVE we live it, in real life we create it!

you beat me too it, visit many mission hubs, or systems and the macro miners are hard at work.
kill macro miners = reduced lag problem solved :)
some more memorable ccp lag moments in screen shots:
this one was from 22 october 2006

and can we ever forget the jump ques :)

( man over 1500 people in que! boy lets bring that back mmmmm war dec's in empire + jump ques )
so lag isnt anything new.. its been around since bloodlines... no wonder all we get is the standard gm responses we keep paying to play in the lag ;)
i would say move to low no sec, but its even laggy out there.
somewhere out there a titan died and a node cried. and we all got rubberbanded for it ;)

Hey, another thread for me to plug at... :)
Lag has been near non-existant in recent months - until the last few days atleast. Those that say it never went away are in one of two groups: - Have a bad internet connection to CCP, ie: Eastcoast of USA. - Are missunderstanding what lag is and mistaking stutter for lag.

No, No! The best idea to reduce lag is to encourage more action in the NEW REGIONS.
All you have to do is to insert a bunch of STATIONS with REALISTIC PLEASURE HUBS, exotic dancers, and real holo reels!
And, don't forget to order lots of kegs of your favorite beverage from IAC! Keep em happy, CCP!

Edited by: Katana Seiko on 14/05/2007 22:18:16 Umm... I guess CCP should put the next content update on ice, next to the whisky and the fish... And when the Hardware and Software is good enough to show no problems at all anymore, you take the next step. I guess bringing two content updates without the necessary repair measurements in between bugged it up...
Umm... Otherwise... Add stations interiors, add a nice view somewhere (exotic dancers?), have some minigames (casino, paid in ISK with some chance to win something?) in them... should reduce the lag outdoors a little... From what I've read you have the station interior ready... I think I'm okay if it's not THAT detailed and THAT much content in them yet... That would give you some time to work on the problems... --- The future begins now - in EVE we live it, in real life we create it!

Maybe that's how long the connection has been bad for. I haven't heard a lot on it but the issue does keep popping up in the forums.
At any rate it's wrong to blame Tranquility performance for this cause of lag.

Edited by: Thargat on 15/05/2007 00:09:48 I rarely have LAG issues. I play on several different rigs, a crappy laptop on cell-phone dialup while I'm at work (alot of travelling). A 100/100 optic with a couple of good puters when I'm at home (weekends). Running EvE with alot of other programs (especially anti virus) does clog up things a bit, when I'm alt tabbing while in Jita for example. Running the game in fullscreen, with smart overview settings and keeping the number of chat channels to a minimum has almost always worked fine for me (doesn't matter if I'm at home or out travelling). People tend to whine alot about lag but as far as I've seen most lag issues are at densly populated systems with lots of (I assume) database access going on and when there's a glitch in the system (like last week when things got a bit messy and I had a hard time logging on).
The only TRUE lag that I've (personally) encountered so far (wich isn't client lag due crappy Python UI code, wich as previously stated can be countered by minimizing the overview use) has been on the SiSi server.
Set up your client smart, and try loading minimal overview and graphic settings and the lag will be minimal (I've played this game on so many different puters and connections and it allways works). I'm sick and tired of all the peepz complaining about lag instead of doing something about it. Don't like the game? Don't play it. Like the game? Then be positive in your criticism.

Edited by: Khwalik on 15/05/2007 01:19:38 my .02isk worth on topic...while lag really hasn't been so bad for me connection on the otherhand has, it's insane mostly on monday and friday when I'm trying to make some money mining respawned roids...I spend more time scooping my drones after loosing connection than actually mining of late it seems.
5 months in game thus far said I'd give it 6 as I have paid that much....but there should be some solutions that could be quickly implemented to remedy issues players are having...my losses aren't uber substantial but they are having an effect.

Hell Yeah get rid of them all. they are Taking up too many resources and the paying customers are paying the price . CCP thats not right, cancell the trials and allow us paying customers to use that bandwidth, or whichever term you want to give it. if reducing the number of players will free up some resources then reduce thier numbers and let us blow each other up !

i have a most irritating problem with my hud not displaying shield and cap correctly. they show full all of the time. this makes it very hard to know the proper time to activate cap boosters and shield boosters and even armor boosters. it makes it so hard that during combat with more than 1 ship it is impossible to keep track of the enemy and your own ship. i recently lost 2 ships to this problem so i have quit playing eve because i simply cannot feel safe/in control of my ship with this problem. of course the gm's are giving me the run around with generic answers and i bet a million dollars gm's never look at any logs or anything like that. i now find out (after they blamed this problem on my client even though i have changed routers, upgraded my internet connection, reinstalled my client, reformatted and reinstalled my os and client, cleared cache folder, etc, etc,) they are admitting they have a server side performance issue. gm's ..please stop the run around and give back the ships and start over after they fix the SERVER side issues.

amen to that, i'm kind of sick of these people complaining about things not when its a problem but when CCP is rectifing the problem. the reason why they are going minimal is a percaution. if your having problems with your car, and your driving it to the mechanic... you don't beat on it all the way there do you? (i would hope not) now when the mechanic gets there, and he thinks there may be something wrong with the engine, he dosn't rip everything out including stearing wheel to fix it? the point i am trying to make is that to properly diagnose the situation, and resolve it it must follow certen steps to reslove it. this may include using minimal resources to operate. (eve has grown since release/beta) i don't think they expected for it to grow as well as it had, i think they are happy about it, however. to fix this, they need to get there servers so there not being over-loaded. as it is difficult to diagnose a problem with your car's engine, when your in the trunk. this may not at all make sense to some people. as it has a complicated apeal. (although if your reading this, you most likely play eve, and if you play eve, than you have been confused in the past and still may be to this day.)
anyways, if the few left of you grimpers think you can do better, than go and do it. than you can go fix your games problems on your own. that way when it blows up on you, the only one you can blame is you. don't tell the mechanic how to fix your car. don't tell CCP how to fix eve.
and just so you nubs know, CCP has always fixed these issues with haste. unlike some other company's running an MMO. (there names won't be disclosed as i don't want to turn this into a slaughter.) if they were like these other company's they would take eve down completly, while they resolve the issue. and than let the few, the proud, and band of brothers to still log in to help with the diagnosis of the issue at hand.
Thank you! RocK On CCP.

You have a seperate issue recon. Your system bios clock, windows system time, and eve time are not synced up.
To fix it, get an external time source, a watch will do nicely. Boot your machine, log into eve, quickly sync the watch to whatever eve time says. Reboot the machine, get into your system bios, usually f1 on most machines, sync the bios system clock to the watch, save/exit, reboot. When windoze loads, sync windoze system time to the watch.
Now it should all be a happy thang. For whatever reason with eve, the codies have the game somehow reading/referencing the bios clock for the GUI timings for all things like cap/sheilds etc. My experiance with this would be anything with a timer, eve time, sheilds, refining arrays, anchoring/unanchoring timers, anything like that, would accelorate/run fast the longer i stayed logged on. If your bios clock is off from eve and windows, you get the problem you have, as well as a few others.
Hope this helps.

ironically enough, Eve and X3: Reunion 2.0 are the only games that have been running beautifully since i built this new machine and installed Vista.
i haven't put it to the blob test yet, but all the empire systems i've flown through (gotten close to jita) i haven't even seen lag (which leads me to believe what i perceived as lag before was video lag).
130 FPS, Fraps running with vista and an 8800 pushing.. i haven't loved Eve more! i know many others may be experiencing otherwise, just figured an optimistic response would be refreshing..

Take an hour to completely kill all drones abandoned to float helplessly in space. Also, please reconsider the giant secure can anchoring masses in 0.5 - 0.7 asteroid belts -there are more cans than roids most of the time.
Also... reconsider the "suicide stealth bomber" Use of Gang Warp by fleets only results in a huge number of ships all ending up in a 15-20km area.
