Oveur stated that coding for kali 2.0 is done for now, so are we still stuck with old, laggy, not practical and hard to use drone ui (especialy when u got couple groups, half of ur right side go bye bye) ?

Yeah, all that work on the new heat UI, totally wasted. Coulda been used to revamp the drone UI.

I think that he meant that no new features will be coded. I can't imagine them not doing any changes to the code in the next 2 months until release.
So go to the test server. Make some very detailed how-to-reproduce lists, and then bugreport them. Just to make sure that the programmers have detailed information to reproduce with.
Making any changes based only on statements like 'old, laggy, not practical and hard to use' would practically mean rewrite the entire thing. Which would then likely lead to 'new, potential laggy non-practical untested code'.

You know that saying 'It will get worse before it gets better' ?
Been flying a drone domi since this char was 1 month old (minus the 15 months I wasn't playing) still close to two years now.. It's still the pure drone king in my book and drones have been hit with the bat pretty much every year.
I'm learning guns now ..
If they ever fix anything they didn't break like a week earlier (remember that hilarious 'drones will just attack your buddies in a gang cos they've been sniffing boosters' bug from a while back?) I'll consider my 5+M sp in drones worth something ..
and no I don't fly carriers cos I'm a fuzzy high sec hugger ..
Honestly devs .. something? anything? I'd be happy with a faction dominix with silly bonus stuff honest.. I have nothing to work for in my drone field ... I had to frelling change the way I play eve because you have been lacking in fixing present problems for years..
sigh
so I guess we're all just better off forgetting about the time we put into drones..

Bump. This really, really needs to get addressed. The current UI is awful - it needs to be more streamlined in with the rest of the modules somehow and not taking up a huge chunk of the overview.

i have to agree with this one plz plz plz give us a time table for the drone ui fix or even when u gonna fix the ai.
it seems to get fixed one patch and broken with the next ive never been happy with drones
tbh tho guys as its not on sisi we arent gonna see it this patch

Why not put openable window that will be accessed with button on ship control unit, like all those buttons for cargo/scanner/overlay. Just add drone button and it pops out a small menu and UI with your drones on top of the ship interface. You can move it around and resize if you really wish.
Whats bad in it? It wont take any calculations as window is already there, just need to move it.

Good suggestions. May I also suggest that with this new window they add a "drone state" switch. This way, your drones can be put on standby rather than arbitrarily going off and attacking whatever. When you press engage target or switch your drone state then it would turn to a "Fighting" or Active state. There's been no end to the times when I've had to return my drones to my bay so that they wouldn't continue attacking.

no contest DRONES need lovn' like nothing else in this game
heat tbh can it ...
it really seems like the only people excited about the heat thing are oveur and tux everybody else just seems like meh.. whats it gonna do for me ..really ... sigh

Well heat is good, but making UI doesnt need any kind of long coding work like heat had. Just delay Rev 2 by maybe month and get UI cooked imo...
