Was just looking at the Sov map and D2 no longer has sovereignty of BKG and according to an evemail that I got (had a clone their) M.Corp now controls their outpost.
Any news on how they took it over and is this the end for D2?

D2 are an insignificant alliance with no real victories to date over any alliance of any significance in the game.
They are an alliance filled with industrialists and newbs.
They know if they were to try and *bring* it against BoB it would be nothing but a massive failure from start to finish and would end up with them losing all of their 0.0 space.
That is why they have chosen to attack ISS instead in a vain effort to keep their ever decreasing pool of pvp'ers from leaving the game. Nothing more, nothing less.
weak.
I hate to say I told you so but there is nothing finer than being validating historically in this game.
Congrats to MC and all the allies up there for driving the nail all the way through their space, very very impressive.
Look forward to visiting there this evening to say hello.

Ignoring the **** you've been posting in other threads lately i will say this.
Credit where credit is due, you were right, D2 were nothing but a paper tiger, you obviously knew something we didn't. When you posted that originally I thought it was propaganda to be honest.
It's proberbly why we never had many fights with them while we were in Pure Blind and surrounding areas.

I know and it's impossible for me to post anything anymore without it being classed as such but nowt much I can do about it unfortunately. That's my own fault.
From our perspective, last summer we looked internally at ASCN and D2. As is now known, digi was inside D2. We had dudes inside ASCN also. We looked at the capabilities of them in terms of structure, pvp, logistics and a bunch of other criteria.
During our BoB BBQ last year, we came to the decision that ASCN were the more dangerous threat. As we dismantled ASCN we continued to assess the threat that D2 posed to us.
That comment and the rest of my comments in that thread were based on that assessment.
Historically, the BoB leaders have been proven correct and that is something I am very proud of because it shaped a year of war for us.
As an aside, I just want to be perfectly clear that I hope no-one thinks I or BoB is taking credit for the hard work and slog that MC et all have done in the north. We assisted with a couple of titans on a couple of occasions to level the playing field but have done nothing else to assist.
All congrats go to them for a job very well done and one which is far from complete yet.

Congratz MC, shame on the coalition.Every alliance not blue with BOB just sealed their fate in EO...6 months or less from now Ragoon will be dead.
This proves all you need to do is use forum propaganda and win a few decisive battles to make a alliance fall apart.....
Just about everyone has a alt in Goonswarm, so its not like they can hide anything they do, and it looks like they are falling apart anyway..Alot of arguing in alliance chat etc....
so 8mo from now EO will be unofficialy over. MC + BOB will have nobody to use their capital fleet against, their pvp'rs will get bored, not log in, then get cought playing WOW Warlocks and smack talking in Barrens chat....

Edited by: Orree on 29/05/2007 18:49:17 Indeed...credit where credit is due. Scoreboard never lies.
Those of us who continue to resist BoB and its allies as best we can cannot be faulted for sticking to our guns and our principles. A lot of us have always been shot at by BoB and their friends, and so we do our best to fight back.
D2 got this latest "thing" started and a lot of people got involved with next to no notice and little time to prepare for what lay ahead. Now D2 appears to be done. The "rest" of us continue to do what we have always done...travel the hard path of being red to BoB.
D2's end surprised me a bit...when dbp said what he said, I thought he was wrong. Then again, I wasn't counting on so many turncoats and people who just dropped out. Seeing D2 splinter yet again didn't help. Few entities can stand up to that kind of turmoil. I know that Morsus Mihi appreciates all the past assistance that D2 provided during our time of need.
Those of us in the North who remain committed to resisting have nothing to be ashamed of. We're now fighting for our homes and remaining committed to each other as we always have been. Some people like to deride us and call us the "Northern NAP Fest" or whatever. Call it what you want, but the main entities in the North have always been friends and are always there for each other. Those with the weak ties have already pulled out, turned-coat or just disintegrated.
Those that chose the easy path made the choices that were expedient for them. Great. Not exceptionally brave, but I guess a comfortable choice. Enjoy your new lives.
Whatever happens, its been a relatively enjoyable fight when you exclude the incredible lag and server issues.

I can't help but respect someone who posts something like this. Posts like this are what make COAD a strong force in eve. It creates respect or disgust for the alliances in question. Simply put, posts like this help shape opinions of alliances. So respect for a good post. ------------- The above user should never be taken seriously. |

This post describes perfectly well why MC will always have Morsus Mihi in the highest regard.
Your will to fight is comparable to the likes of FLA. It is always great to exchange fire with you guys.
Not bad for a bunch of Trekkies
Wish I could have gotten you lads in my previous game (Star Fleet Command). I was a much better PvPer in that game. Probably has something to do with the fact that I've played Star Fleet Battles (the game upon which it is based) since the early 80's.
I'd love you have you boys on the business end of the disruptors on my C-7 battlecruiser...heheh.
Seriously...MC are class. Always a pleasure to exchange ordinance.

Yesterday's engagement in S-E was quite fun. I was there with my combat main (Naim Obeji)...fun fighting all you guys. We jumped in with a force of about 130-ish (no capitals). My combat log shows I lived about 21 minutes on the EOY gate. That doesn't count the 3 mins or so spent "jumping" and the 5 or so minutes loading my screen. Then, during the 21 minutes covered in my log, there was a period of probably 8-10 minutes in the middle where I was getting locking bugs and when I did lock, got module lag.
Still it was a glorious fight. I finally started taking fire and warped out. When I came back to the gate, my screen wouldn't load and then there was a ruckus with my two little girls, so I had to get up and go deal with that. When I came back, I was just entering my pod...lol. Not long after that, someone podded me back to Khitaled.
I think I got onto only 4 killmails. I counted 7 others who died that I had locked but didn't get any modules to activate.
Too bad we couldn't muster the capitals at the time to give a better accounting of ourselves.

interesting to observe the dynamic of the forums, if someone told u the earth was flat would you then believe them. such is the case with most things in here. I'm not talking about this thread specifically, and it is not an attempt to derail the thread either. It is fine the way it is for those who can read between the lines.
i am not a part of the war yet, but i will be, and not on BoB's side, i am not an alt either. i know what bob represents and i know they must be destroyed, and they will be.
it's not an ideological battle, simply balance and the forces of the universe playing itself out here aswell, what has been taken must/will be returned. It's just the way it is. and this is where the take what u can give nothing back philosophy ultimately ends, in a giant battle where what has been taken is returned, one way or the other, sooner or later. it would not be surprising either to have bob split up aswell, when they are finally forced into the last nook in their once so ruthless empire.
I do have a suggestion to the coalition. When faced with an enemy that is unable to be reasoned with, that is ruthless, arrogant and decieving and filled with liars and hipocrites selling their own granmammy to get your land and stab u in the back, and throw u to war so they can sit and relax.
THEN
you do not contact the enemy, u do not listen to it, you ignore the enemy and you crush it. and u continue untill the enemy is devastated, silent resolve. You have not done this, hence you find yourself semi scattered and your peoples are looking to bob alts for the answer to how it's going and making their decisions based on their propaganda. try this.. for 3 months, do not read the forum posts pertaining to this war, plan the strikes, perform them, with absolute resolve and no regret, no fear, no doubt, no regard for what the enemy thinks says or does. Trust your own resolve. rely on your own intelligence that is documented only. rely on yourselves. remove those who will remove others from your coalition, those who seed distrust is the rotten apple in the basket. for these are the traitors in a war.
the best weapon the enemy is employing against you and has been employing against you since the war started.. is using yourself against yourself.
do not listen to the enemy, do not argue with him, do not even talk to him, just destroy him.
it is a battle of thoughts and spirit.. the physical is allways a manifestation of this. it is a display of your resolve. so i ask you coalition, how firm is your resolve. What do you want, the genie/universe asks.. your wish is my command if your resolve is true.
adhere to this battle philsophy and it will serve you well. And DO it instead of just trying. As a little wise green guy once said in a movie, do or do not, there is no try, because try leads to nowhere, you have been trying, and it has lead u nowhere... trying will only lead you halfway there.. so i ask you.. how strong is your resolve? strong enough to put your pride aside and settle it once and FOR ALL, because FOR ALL is what this is about.
an additional note to starwars is that the entire ideology of the jedi is inspired by taoism and other of such liberating belief system matrixes. So with that said, understand, it is not just the little green man in a movie speaking, it is the tao. the force (that's what tao means). it is ancient, and it was destroyed to put in place the prison religions that decreed war against eachother and held the world separated in two and in iron grip. and decreed that whosoever did not follow this religion should be abolished.
such is bob to eve, in no uncertain terms, follow bob, be their slave to their doctrine of hipocracy or be destroyed.
But it does not end here, this battle is far from over BoB, eventhough it has been going on for a while, it has barely begun, your arrogance will be your downfall.

No. This is the main reason:

...excellent stuff...
Because there are smart people in this game, that take it as fun first, there is no political event that can kill EVE.
When EVE begun, it hardly had any political structure at all, apart from the RP one. As the game expanded to a point where territory could be held, first alliances formed, informal at first, than later enabled by the ingame tools. Remember, this was not ingame - it was the most sensible thing to do at the time. A group of corps did it, then other groups of corps started doing it.
Now, as we have progressed from Alliance to Empire, which will probably become a recognised ingame relation in the future, we are witnessing the first battle of empires. One will win. Sooner or later, it does not matter. When that occurs, the political landscape will have to change. Words "resistance" and "asymetric warfare" come to mind.
A military empire cannot exist without a war. There will either be war or collapse. When the war is over, begins the slow death.
Alliances will group together again, to challenge the once mighty opressor. There might be several tries. But one insurgency will suceed. Third? Fourth? Who knows. The empire will fall, and the enormous vacuum it will leave will be filled by a group of alliances, which now have to share that space "fairly".
This can only lead to a war.
There is no danger for EVE. The senselles slaughter will never cease.

What does D2 have to do with us and MM and anyone else staying to fight for their home? The only way to keep our heads high is stay and fight until we win or lose on the field, not on the forums. We are not Xelas you know.

With all due respect, that is not our style.
The "field" is our principles. The "field" is our resolve to continue to fight an entity that made us their enemy and continues to make us so through its actions. The "field" is our "home." It is where we live.
We do not compromise or leave the "field" just because it is easier or more lucrative...or...what is the term people use.."fun" to do so.
I came from Fountain Alliance. After BoB defeated FA, I continued to live in Fountain as a member of a non-alliance corp and then as a member of Vertigo Coalition. Still fighting the same fight. Tiring of the Fountain region and with an interest in trying to hold conquerable space (Fountain is NPC space), Shiva moved to Tribute and joined Morsus Mihi. Same goals...same enemies...same principles. Same "field."
All of our moves have been aligned with our principles. Our enemy has always been the same. It will likely always be the same. We do not "switch sides" or leave "fields" because it is expedient or comfortable to do so.
I have seen many, many, many ex-compatriots and erstwhile "allies" leave the "field" and take the easy (or fun or whatever you want to call it) way out.
Try walking a mile in our shoes before you pass judgement on us. Would you have the same resolve without BoB support? Your side is rich with people for whom the answer is a resounding "no."
See you on the "field."

When this war started it seamed like if the forces aligned against BoB could simply apply pressure on BOB from all directions and they could use their greater numbers to wear BOB down they would win.
Maybe they did and I didn't see it; but I never got the impression that there was a co-ordinated push by BOB's enemys, committing their entire resources, day after day attacking BoB directly it all seamed hit and miss with no overall command with a clear strategy.
Anyone have a good theory of why this never happened?

We have things in our stations other people want.
It really wouldn't be very tenable for MM if it is the lone "red spot" in the North, though. Not in terms of attempting to hold conquerable space. Sure, you could guerilla it up in Venal. That's not hard. It's been done...most of us have lots of experience with it. It's not really a goal for us, though.

Its been an honor to fly beside some amazing pilots in the north. Morsus and Pure along with the handful of other organizations still sticking to their guns are some of the most amazing folks I will ever have the honor to fly beside.
We will be here until the fat lady is done singing, and we will continue to be here long after. People keep saying BoB will own all 0.0, to that I say look at people like Morsus, RZR, Pure. and the others who continue to fight. There will always be someone fighting the underdog fight.
I will continue standing beside my family in CEI, RZR and my extended family in the friends i have up here in the north, til there is nothing left to drag into the fight.

I didn't mean Venal, I mean Tribute. I don't think you'd be left as a token red either. BoB via MC is the driving force right now, and it isn't unreasonable that they stop after Branch.
Just a guess.

We had people spontaniousley donateing there hard earned iskies to spam just one more tower, and them asking if there were any more for sale so they could donate more! that was some of the best fighting sprit i've seen, it certainley was not "leaveing the field"

Reseting standings causes a big problem for me. I fought tooth and nail beside my brothers in DiTron and can never fire on them. We shed too much blood together for anything to change their +10 standings to me and my corp.

I am impressed with how quickly MC have been able to destroy D2.
It seems that D2 were indeed the paper tiger that BoB made them out to be.
Well done MC, well done BoB. It's unfortunate for everyone, haters on both sides included, that so far no one has been able to bring it against BoB.
Life goes on tho, and there are still forces opposing the Northern Front. Good luck to MM, Razor et al, hopefully some epic fights to come on all sides. |

This war was personal, How long did people expect that boB players would sit by and accept being called cheats, haxor devs etc?
You woke the giant, BoB was content fighting as they always have for fun here and there.
You poked the beehive with your vexatious and un-provable comments and fueled the fire by continuing the propaganda.
You caused your own demise. I am not in bob but I watched and listened.
When this is over the political landscape will be vastly different. MC will own territory that is nearly out of it's ability to grasp. How will they handle that? I bet they walk away. After all this was about conquest not expansion.
BoB will cointinue in the south until they get bored and from what I have seen that point is getting close. The south is a failure cascade. The rails have all but eroded from the train.
BoB imo does not want to "win" eve but to play it. I suspect that after BoB is done in the south there will be a period of regrouping and calm then a massive standings reset. The so called pets will be left alone and rent free to build or die. A group here and there will arise and take control of the rival groups in it's immediate area. Some one will phoenix from this and will become a threat to BoB. Then BoB will get what it wants yet again. War and war = fun to BoB.
I personally do not see RA being obliterated or even touched in this event. I suspect that BoB HC wants RA to take control of the south east east and grow in a way not possible while aligned with Goons. BoB will imo create an atmophere that will coddle RA and allow them to prosper and develope.
As well in the north there will be a constant state of war for months and then some group will prevail and become strong enough to demand and receive title and will again become a challange to BoB.
I have gotten to know some senior BoB players over the last year and I believe that they spend as much time "creating" strong opposition as they do squashing it.
I have heard it said that Molle and Cyvok talked regularly and that the ascn event was planned perhaps the cascade of failure was more rapid that either hoped but none the less it was planned. It was meant imo to give the north some quiet and to allow the north and east to gather momentum. To get stronger, to be a more worthy opposition.
You guys missed the train when you didn't bandwaggon with ASCN. Your shortsightedness was what cost this war.
Another thing that you don't see is that BoB is weaker now then they have been in months. But the only time BoB is really weak is when it has no opponents. Boredom creates apathy. As I said boB is a fighting alliance, and as such will ensure that it has someone to fight.
BoB could "win" eve but it will choose not to.

There is a big difference between "northern NAP squad" and Alliance. We have blue standings because we are fighting along side with same objective against same enemies.

The foundations to the current events in the north and "how quickly MC has been able to destroy D2" have nothing to do with the paper tiger stuff.
D2 Fountain campaign was a disaster. Our forces suffered heavy losses down there, it started with a suicidal jump to Xelas home system, right in the 1st evening there with about 50-70 bs going down ( dont remeber now ), then the titan loss right in the middle of yz-, Y-2 bloody battles, and then F-T in Delve. The fighting spirit was broke there for a lot of people/corps. The POS was destroyed but the amount of forces lost there after such a huge effort from the coalition, didnÆt pay in the end.
D2 was in need of a break there after the F-T episode, but after some days MC started the attacks in Fade and then came P-2 battle. It was decisive I must had, and never again MC forces saw a sizable D2 fleet.
If you ask me D2 isnÆt dead. Is under terrible external pressure but with the corps leaving the internal pressures are being slowly solved. In the end what will be left is the hard core, and from there D2 will grow again.

There's indeed a big difference between alliances that've helped each other out a lot of times over a long time span, and a freeloading turncoat alliance like yours, who have no problem shooting the guys that've gone to great length to help you just a few months ago :) Fair play, but don't presume you're in any position to make any comments regarding the "northern nap squad". |

Instead of being bitter about being defeated, why don't you focus on the ares you can improve and plan for the future. Look beyond nano gangs and decide what path you wish to take in the game. Coming onto the forms throwing a hissy fit just makes you look like a sore loser. If you did your best, keep you dignity and earned respect and have a good long think about your direction in the game. If you are unable to hold space without the umbrella nap or iron and d2, maybe live in the npc stations and build up from there.

He is not bitter. He called ESA turncoats, it's not about being bitter. I think even wraith would agree to that term because they did change sides. They've done it about 4 times now. It was FIX, then it was Pure Blind, After that down to Fix again, after that BWF and now Deklein. No offence but it's abit moronic by that indiano guy to first in other threads presume he knows something about how the coalition works and then give us alliance vs coalition verdicts when he's not been particularly involved.
Oh and RZR hasn't flown nano in quite abit. Some members might do it if they are incredibly wealthy but generally it's not worth it anymore. Our standard fits are anything but nano :)

Good Post.
Though we are enemies in game, i sympathise with D2 to an extent, as i myself was once a member of a large grand alliance, that was systematically ground down by multiple enemies (LV), very similar to D2.
So the circle turns again. You pick yourself up, dust yourself down, some corps go, some corps stay, but all in all you stay friends. Eventually you'll find a bit of space again to carve for yourself and start the process again. Thats what make eve exiting IMO.
I wish you luck, though i'm sure you guys won't need it. Just need to take another breather before the plunge once again.

Actually, I'm not bitter, I havent enjoyed the game this much in a long time. Losing a region is very unfortunate, but that's all part of the game, and if indeed we lose the region I would respect and congratulate the side that took it, as they did a better job then us at this point of time.

QFT - and you know Razor will be there alongside MM/Pure/Hydra and all the others (apologies, short term memory is not so good :p) fighting the fight till the bitter end.
Spose the only other thing to say is good luck, less lag and let's keep it smack free! (that includes seleene, we know bumpin an MS is like trying to knock a bus off the road with a bicyle but hey.... twas funny to watch )

Edited by: Mythrell on 30/05/2007 14:31:05 This seems to be as good thread as any to thank all from both sides, this has been most interesting weeks of EVE so far.
I don't really agree with the paper tiger stuff since there was many nice battles up there (like the one with 70-80 losses from both sides, I personally had time to get rid of two ships during that fight). I mean sure our numbers went down very quickly after corps started leaving or forming new alliances, but those who stayed fought hard against bigger numbers for weeks.
Anyways it was fun times and I wish good luck for all northern allies. Personally I'm not going to be around that much next couple weeks and after that I need some empire time, PvP is great and all but my heart is with building, not destroying. Besides, after being in every D2 fleet op when I was online since joining up has filled my quota of big figths for atleast next 6 months, maybe even more .

To me theres a certain amount of poetic justice to whats happened in the North.
D2 was probably the straw that broke LV's back insofar they did a good job distracting BoB from fortifying LV in the South. Thus it could be argued D2 was very complicit in the destruction of LV.
Ironically the split up of LV helped the Alliance by the remaining fragments being spread all over and wanting revenge. It was as if a large out of control vehicle became 3 or 4 more focused entities.
It raises a smile that D2 who having helped destroy LV now see BKG taken over by one of the aforementioned entities. I dont think they expected that one when they jumped on the bandwagon.
Congratultions to all those involved and big props to my old mates in M. Corp (M. Pire) , you guys deserve it!

As Mythrell already nicely stated I also want to thank our enemies for the nice battles we had during the last weeks. I also think the paper tiger stuff sounds a bit "smacky" because the corps that did not leave fought hard and did what was possible, but there is only so much you can do while attacked by about a dozen alliances, no smack or disregard to what they have achieved, thats a valid tactic and we would have done the same eventually. ;)
But anyway, just wanted to express my sincere thanks for our enemies and of course to all that still are around flying with us.

There are a few moves left in the North but checkmate is now guaranteed. By your reply I guess that will be when all you have left standings is your king.

I take no pride in helping dismantle D2 (Id much rather sharpen my daggers on some others I could mention ), but I will say this.. Revenge.. Being involved in the BKG station siege has eased my past anger somewhat. Its taken 2 years.. but I think I've moved onto the next spiritual level in Eve, lvl 1 being able to loose a ship, and saying GF! at the end.. lvl 2; loosing/gaining space, and having the maturity to thank your opponent afterwards for the fun fights no matter the outcome.
Thanks for the experience and battles up here D2 n friends.

There was an official announcement about standing reset and most of "straight facts" were already discussed there.
The TNT (the member of northern coalition few months ago) was the one who backstabbed us before our standing reset - at the times when we lived in the drone regions. I think enough of straight facts for today.

A people's fundamental dignity and pride far outweighs any purely territorial considerations. Better to lose your space while keeping your head held high and say you stuck to your guns to the end than make some compromise deal and sell out yourself & your oathbound friends just so you can scrabble in the dirt a bit longer with head bent low.

Edited by: Bobby Atlas on 30/05/2007 18:52:08 Ignorance is bliss, anyone who can call d2 a paper tiger is simply ignorant.
The pretext floating around is that this fight was MC vs D2 when in most cases it was MC & friends vs mostly just D2 as the capital staying power of the north, in just about every fight no other northern alliance could or would field capitals along side d2 let alone organize a cohesive interalliance force. This sure is the failing of the north as a whole but to simply call d2 a paper tiger is nothing but ignorant of there once great strength.
As for comparing the stark contrasts of calling BoB cheaters vs calling d2 paper tigers -- paper tigers is an opinionated statement, cheaters is a factual statement. Does the actions of the few brand the many? no - sure there is allot of great people in BoB but the fact of the matter is that it only takes the actions of the few to alienate the many and that is what has happened.
What is a great shame in only what is my humble opinion is that BoB themself did not bring the fight to D2 as that would have made some great fights, instead BoB used it reaching arm to parachute in MC & friends north.
With that, the war in the north has reached a closing chapter and a new one will follow im sure as a power struggle will no doubt not be far away, it is human nature. As for the greater ambitions against BoB for whatever reasons, im sure that entities for a long time to come will seek the destruction of a force as "large?" as BoB. So onward we go, everyday is a new begining.

As my esteemed colleague from No Quarter puts it, "some things go beyond mere pragmatism."
Any idiot can tell what the "smart," Machiavellian thing to do is. We know what Sun Tzu advises. However, we've never been in this struggle to merely save our skins or our assets. As I said, what you suggest is not our style.
Naturally, we'll conserve our resources as best as the situation allows, but I will never provide counsel to my fellow alliance leaders that we should "punk out" and take the easy way out as so many before us have done.
Nothing your side does will take our alliance away. That is ours to keep. We can only take it from ourselves. The territory? That's up for grabs. We'll defend it. We'll aid our friends as best we can. We will provide the best fight we can without destroying ourselves in the process.
We followed D2 into this situation out of our friendship and gratitude for the assistance that they provided in the past. Our principles and our friendship with the rest of the remaining Northern bloc will keep us engaged until we can no longer muster fleets to fight.
Whatever happens...our stance towards the forces arrayed against us will not change. We will not be "switching sides." We will not be seeking neutrality. We will not cease believing in something just because it may conserve some pixels in an online space game.
Personally, I believe that part of why BoB and their ever-growing list of "friends" succeed is because not enough people in this game feel the way we do. too many people lack the conviction to stick to their guns.

I agree, Dianabolic. I certainly don't see your side staying what it is when all is said and done. BoB will always keep things stirred up. Alot of people currently basking in your sun are in for some soggy days down the line.
That's part of what makes this cycle so sad and pathetic. The same people allow themselves to be used in this manner and will find themselves again in the same situations that they fled. The only ones that win are BoB and its absolute closest, irrevocable (in my estimation) friends (MC to name one). The rest allow themselves to be used and discarded all in the name of "fun" (or just enjoying being on the winning side or whatever the motivation is). Heck, I think it would be awesome to fly under your FCs once or twice. It has to be fun operating that well and with such precision--- to see first hand how its done. I'm just not going to compromise myself to do it.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I don't ever want to live that way some of these people allow themselves to live.
Don't get me wrong. BoB are the single-most prominent player entity in this game. As you guys go, the game goes. It's fun. If it wasn't, I'd stop playing. I enjoy 0.0 life, politics and warfare (minus the lag, bugs and server issues).
If the greatest goal left to be achieved in this game is to bring you guys down and see what rises in your place, then the goal will never be realized unless someone (rather, lots of "someones") breaks the cycle and shifts the paradigm. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seems to me your job of "turning" people gets easier and easier every campaign. That's the wrong direction in my view.
The list of entities/players left that are still willing to stand up for themselves grows smaller, day-by-day. If there's anything truly sad in all of this...it's that.
See ya out there.

While I think the picture the alliance paints of itself of just 'being blue to shoot common enemies' is a bit too rosy, in general you hit the nail on the head really. NAPs are bad. Your PvPers grow bored and get out of shape, your training for combat (T2 Snipers/Dreadnaughts gets neglected and your whole alliance slowly loses the will and ability to PvP. In peacetime, at best you manage to stay as good as you were, but even that is falling behind your enemies who still progress.

Standing for something is what causes the cycle in the first place. Whether you stand for your corp, your alliance, for territory or for a principle. That's where the conflict emerges, 2 sides that stand for different things. What stops the game getting stale is that one side can beat the other, and prevents things from stagnating or needing to be artificially "reset" like in other games (oh you won, now let's reset and play another round!).
There are people in Eve who "stand" for something and have never stopped. Here's an example - MC. They stand for ISK, and have done so since before I started playing. They don't suffer the same cycle of rising and falling like other alliances do. If anything that shows that you don't have to be in that cycle if you don't want to. __________ If you think the game is rigged, why are you still playing? |

All the naysayers, all the "omg too much blue" naysayers really need to stop and check their history, for there is one group - and one group only - that has continually kept the politics of eve on its toes and has never been afraid to up-sticks and take the fight elsewhere, for no other reason than... why not?
And we'll do it again, far before it gets "boring".

I doubt it, the people around us atm are people that would do exactly the same thing.

Congrats MC, once again you guys have done what few others could do.
I am curious though, aren't you guys getting bored? Going through enemies like **** through a goose has got to be like playing Doom in god mnode, not much of a challenge to you. Hope to see you guys get some competition soon, I know how hard it must be for you...heh.
Good job guys.

And if you want to point fingers at people for not standing for something, you really need to look at your own allies who abandoned you. They only wanted to stand for something when it was easy. How is that any different than the people you judge for being blue to BoB?

That there has been a nothern block not to fight is plain wrong, most of this block has been togehter for more then 2 years. And it has its roots back in the days, when rzr, iron and G had the united south against the lil north, that was mostly pa *cough* Times have changed and mistakes have been made, but most of the ppl will be fine up there.
Anyhow I cant see a standing reset happen, maybe bob and mc do one, but those ppl have proven that they are able to stand on their own two feet, but iam not sure about all the new Members of the BoB familie, how well will they do without bob or mc, can they hold a large terretoy without help of others?
I predict that the alliance which will take over branch will at leat nap two other alliances in the north. When Bob and MC do their standing reset, the panic nap gun will strike again. And iam pretty sure that a few ppl that are now spidding big words about naps, will be in the nap world as well, as ppl these days have forgoten that assets dont mean fun in general.
And well Bob, I mean you shown that no one can touch you, lets see how this turns out in the future as there is no more arch enemie that needs to be killed, as most vanished, disbaned or have simply switched sides. Not much left that needs to be done, huh?

I think you miss the point. Nearly everybody has a few NAPs, that is normal. The point that is being made is that it is unhealthy not to be in regular heavy conflict.
Times of peace allow people to get complacent, slack on fleet supplies, lose the mindset that is required for prolonged PvP. You gain fat carebears who reap all the roids in your peaceful area of space, all you do is some roaming gangs to kill a few gankers and have a bit of fun. Your FCs don't get practice or leave out of boredom, your battleship pilots fly more domis than tempests and your new recruits learn that cruise missiles and torps are more important to train for flying their ratting ravens than Tech 2 large guns, covert ops and interdictors.
Then the next war shows up, your carebears run to empire, your FCs left months ago or are out of practice. You have too few covert ops pilots, your battleship fleets show an abundance of ravens and a lack of snipers, you lose a fight or two and the people who lost the PvP mindset start whining about the few good FCs you have left.
The experienced PvPers you have left roll their eyes at the stupid questions of the newbies who can't align properly to save their life and the newbies whine because the FC is 'stupid' and warps the sniper in at 130km (already a terrible compromise compared to a real T2 sniperfleet). So the FCs start to burn out, the alliance leadership in the meantime has spent more time optimizing industry revenue and solving minor disputes between corps during the peacetime so they have no bloody clue as to how to run a PvP alliance and give stupid orders. Morale begins to sink and a month or 3 or 4 months later you are sitting in Empire wondering wtf went wrong.
That is what is wrong with too many NAPs.

Good we agree on that, wasnt realy my point.
Anyhow most naps are made because ppl are afraid to lose something in a computer space game or are simply to weak to defend something. With the latest "political" developemt in eve, it hasnt been A and B kill each other is mostly A tries to kill B, B calls C, A then calls D and so on, in the end you have giant nap blocks that are doing a great job doing nothing, small alliances form and run around killing stuff. When weve founded Evoke we made a clear statment, who was on blue, and that was mostly because of of good ol`times by the camp fire, anyow we got so many ppl asking for blue standing, ppl we didnt even know, thought we set them blue. I mean whats wrong with this ppl, eve is a game you can only lose what you have and id guess there is nothing in eve that you realy own, cause when TomB gets drunk, crashes into the server and the ccp Server burns down. Your so loved belongings are nothing more then ashe.
So with the "great war which wasnt so great as anybody thought" is now over, i hope that the landscape of eve will now turn again into a A shoots B and C doenst care thing. That would be real fun, well if not, I dont care either, as my nap list is short and i dont have any assets that are expensive or when expensive are save :D

Okay, I wasn't going to say anything, but here goes:
Here is BoB's strategy:
1) Throw renters at enemy force. 2) Find new renters to throw at enemy force. 3) Throw MC at enemy force. 4) Throw pirates at enemy force. 5) Pay any renters in enemy territory to turn on enemy force. 6) Splinter alliance by making promises with individual corps / alliances friendly to enemy force. (Break later). 7) Finally show up to fight, gank 1-2 people still around, declare superiority.
I fought a ton of Xelas, M.Pire, YouWhat, ****, MC......but no BoB. Hrm.
The biggest reason we lost is it didn't matter how many billions of ISK damage we did to any of the pawns, it wasn't to BoB. That's how BoB fights, throw everyone and their mother at the enemy and make them spend their resources instead of your own. In addition, they only engage if they have at least a 2 to 1 advantage. I'm not saying this is a bad strategy, it appears to be quite effective. However, making the claim BoB is ruthless.....how can you be ruthless when you fight from the back?

Much as I dislike BoB, I have to say, "Isn't that pretty much your fault?"
No-one stopped you going into BoB space and fronting BoB did they? You chose to hang around on the edges fighting the pets where the risks were lower and the kills easier.
When we got pwnd by BoB we didnt see too much of the pets because we were in bob space (for about 10 minutes I admit) and were going up against them.
If you are going to get pwnd, you might as well get pwnd by the Daddies.

Lol, i gotta get some of what you are smoking. D2 had the choice of bringing it to bob but went to fountain were we weren't at the time, we then came over and fought a couple of times. You never defended your poses or tried to finish of ours when we were within a 100 jumps. In fact, d2 seemed to be somewhere else UNTIL we left to deal with querious. You guys had the choice of coming directly to us, flexing, talking tough but never bought it when we were there, fact.
As for the other gibberish. So we outnumber redswarm in the east do we? Mc were sent in to fight redswarm for us? All our allies are fighting redswarm for us and we are hanging around near the back ? So in the capital battle of 9-9, it was everyone else but us fighting ? Renters in omist were doing all the fighting so far?
Propoganda is all well and good but when you make fantastic and ridiculously stupid comments like that, it makes me think that you have been drowning in your own lies so much that you actually believe it
D2 , you threw the names, the insults, insulted our allies, talked tough etc. But you knew where we were and decided to go elsewhere, it is not our fault that you attacked the other side of the universe to attack our allies and not us. I said to you before and i'll remind you of what i said back then

I haven't fired mean anythings. I decided awhile back not to flip my lid on the forums anymore, the break we had and seeing all the assclownage going on really puts things into perspective.

There never was a war to begin with.
There was alot of smack from BoB , from D2 and from whoever else is a forum *****.
Ow sure , there were some fights but it has never been a war.
Firstly , cause BOB has no intention of taking over the north (they don't have the manpower to defend south and north) Secondly , The shortsighted leaders of both ascn and d2 sealed their own fate.

for me its over as it has been proven that bob and friends are quiet dedicated and willing to do boring things at a game, maybe ragoon/tcf can stop them but whats going to happen when mc has free hands and Ragoon/tcf are facing more super caps then ive got fingers on my hand?
Anyhow hopefully this will be the start of less napping, smaller alliances and more pew pew, but I doubt that, but with at least branch having new owners its another region without explo/em hardenrs and we are close to do round the galaxie trip without meeting anyone blue.

You should have discussed this to your leadership when they decided to invade fountain and go on a campaign against Serpentis. Up until a month ago your alliance had far superior forces and if your friends showed up, you could have stemmed the invasion. Yet, Clankillers and many other D2 were busy pirating in empire in motherships and carriers to gank the random nuetral bs. You call us BOB renters, yet in our months and months of time in BOB space we paid nothing. You chastise BOB for not bringing it to the north? They didn't have to.
This post is very far off. Your fate was sealed in fountain and when D2 showed up the amount of smack at BOB was overwhelming, but the fight was only brought to BOB what twice? Rest of the time it was Xelas/Axe/Panic/Fatal none of which you guys handled well.

I totally agree with Oree's standpoint. In SWG before teh ghey jedi and combat balance, I was a die hard rebel. It sucked to see all my friends eventually turn traitor and join the imps.
I kept fighting though, even if it was just me fighting.
Now being a simple low sec pirate, 0.0 politics don't affect me too much. But I can appreciate Morsus Mihi's standpoint and I salute them.

once again..
The system cap was announced in a blog at least a couple of weeks before this event happened, possibly even more. "Sudden?" If you're going to comment about the game mechanics, at least read the freaking blogs!
Why are you replying as if it even came to the system cap?
Local never came near it. Not by a long shot.
It just seems that some people were unaware of the laggy and unresponsive nature of Jump Portals when trying to move over 100 people.
Our tactics of the day demanded that our fleets held the surrounding 2 systems and that the hostiles would be forced to jump portal. System lag from portalling is far better for the people already in system and much more unreliable for people trying to come in from the Portal. We knew this because we had been portaling left right and center for ages.
Coalition had a very good chance when TCF was briefly in control of the neighboring system to F-T with their BS fleet but instead of trying to jump in to F-T and cause a ****load of lag + confusion in the system they stayed and got destroyed by the lag + confusion that was caused when Allied forces came in to their system.
In short coalition should have gone for Control of systems next door and then force normal gate entry to ensure either total cluster **** or proper control of system. Jump Portaling was the worst tactic to choose, in terms of getting as many people in F-T as possible.

To my knowledge the cap was active, else everyone would have been able to jump in. Just because there were not 700 people in the System does not mean there was not cap active, the cap can also be reached in other ways like massive use of drones which will increase cpu load on the node to a level where there is not much cpu left for enemies to jump in.
But I think that is already a bit off topic here

Actually no, there is no difference between them. Both are "arbitrary" hard caps introduced by CCP. Some of the newer players within EVE might not know that, but this caps were not always there. No arguing here if they are good or not because like everything it has positive and negative effects.

you would have a point if the attackers actually were outnumbered or suffered from any arbitray cap. But they werent neither by pilotnumber nor by lag (many bob pilots stated they had terrible lag). A possible cap kept the game alive. Something which is above any outcome the best thing which can happen. As for the jumpportal, read joans reply. Portals are buggy and always were, a well known fact amongst ppl who use them. Not to mention that everyone even the slowest coalition pilot knew that eve could not handle unlimited numbers in the system. That presupposes some things:
1. That the cap is indeed 700.
2. That the cap can not be "changed on the fly" to deal with lag.
Hence, this entire matter becomes very debatable, more so if you drag other more unscrupulous explanations into the mix.

Originally by: Mahrin Skel 4 months ago, if instead of announcing that all of the "BoB pets" were the scum of Eve and were going to die first if we didn't immediately join in fighting against BoB, the coalition had instead attacked BoB directly, things might have been different. At that time, few from Xelas, FIX, or Rise would have rolled the fleets to defend Delve, never mind the less exposed members of what would become the Alliance under the pressure. Instead, you made it clear this was Total War, and launched what you thought were overwhelming assaults on all fronts, but *not* against BoB directly.
Except the assaults were all too whelming. *Hard*, very hard, and truth be told even FIX was being stressed to the breaking point, and we don't break easy. But you left BoB and MC uncommitted. You never concentrated for a hammer blow on any front until the the MC capyard assault, and the battle of F-T.
At F-T, not only did you get suckered, but you were actually outnumbered. The Alliance capital *reserve* was as large as your entire combined capital fleet, and there was a significant edge on standard vessels stationed nearby systems as well. Every PvP force in BoB space rolled everything they could put together, knowing that if BoB fell, our life expectancy would be measured in days. What BoB could never have commanded, you delivered onto yourselves.
After that, your entire game plan just seemed to fall apart. Not only were no two elements of your forces working to the same plan, it seemed like no single one was working to the same plan for 2 weeks running. Razor's here, they're there, now they're nowhere to be found, now they're way the hell and gone over *there*. D2 is attacking Fountain again while FLA falls, now they're defending Iron, now they're not. Goons are in Querious, now they're not. Iron is attacking Querious, now they're pulling out to defend against MC, but before they even get there they're back and taking a station deep in Q they can't hope to hold. Just a complete strategic cluster****.
On the Alliance side, much simpler: Xelas, FIX, hold the line. BoB reinforces Xelas, MC reinforces FIX, when there's a potentially decisive battle one hops to the other theater to swing the balance. Rise, dig in and give ground as slowly as possible, BoB will be coming. Okay, showdown in F-T, everybody roll. Okay, their capital fleet is broken and they're recoiling to rebuild, MC hits FLA while they're off balance. Okay, FLA has fallen and *now* they're taking MC seriously, everybody else gets behind the MC spearthrust while BoB goes south.
Out of sheer, desperate neccessity, the Alliance became what the Coalition made the mistake of treating them as: A coherent, coordinated, unified military force. Working to the same plan, bound to the same fate.
--Dave
This is very well put from my point of view (not speaking as a diplomat for my alliance here). I could quibble with a few points, but overall, it identifies the major mistake, as I see it. The mistake was actually identified early on by us, but momentum carried us along the wrong path and some costly defeats suffered by allies made it all academic after a while.
I think there was a few other underestimations on our part which I won't go into. Suffice it to say we learned a very important lesson. Additionally, we (Morsus Mihi) were not warned about nor did we have time to properly prepare for what we were tasked to do. We went with what we had with mixed results.
I believe we've learned a lot from this particular campaign and there's been quite a lot of fun mixed into it all (even with the lag and server issues that plague large fleet combat). If MM can remain politically and organizationally intact through whatever remains of this conflict, we'll be stronger and better educated from experiences gained in fighting this "war."

Those of us who continue to resist BoB and its allies as best we can cannot be faulted for sticking to our guns and our principles. A lot of us have always been shot at by BoB and their friends, and so we do our best to fight back.
D2 got this lasted "thing" started and a lot of people got involved with next to no notice and little time to prepare for what lay ahead.
This post describes perfectly well why MC will always have Morsus Mihi in the highest regard.

1. Between the announcement months beforehand and JV1V that cap had been breached on several occasions on single node systems (read : Jita), which F-T was at the time.
2. Every system outside F-T was absolutely dead because the Coalition did exactly what you said - move in place from surrounding systems. Nobody was able to jump or load systems anywhere else in the constellation. There was well in excess of 1000 coalition pilots in the area.
3. Only a rather tiny support fleet tried to jumpbridge and not cyno in. I don't see how jumpbridge justification has much to do with dozens of caps showing up in system over an hour after the fact. Only a minority were even killed in the battle for the PoS.
4. Local count in F-T was different from person to person. Personally I had 984 on my local counter 1 jump off and 800 odd (memorable because I stared at them for hours without any movement :P ) in F-T, but if the cap was in effect neither of these were possible - at the same time an alt in the 984 man system was properly capping at 700 with an intermittent drop and spike by one or two. It's safe to say that enough people to reach that cap were there, otherwise people wouldn't have been cyno-queued due to the cap.
I can totally see why you would not complain about getting a free lunch. You can't spin it into being down to your merits though, no matter how hard you keep trying.

Mate, you talk about spin? I'm surprised your head doesn't fall off. D2 had previously said they were trying to jump in 300 or so people ( caps or support, can't remember). Jump bridges suffer in heavy lag conditions and you get the gate que things, which means alot of folks won't jump. If you used them more you would realise this.
Jita has it's own node and most people thee are docked so its hardly the same as heavy fighting at a pos with fighters and drones and 100's of caps going at it.
The surrounding systems were feeling the strain also but that's not exactly a new occurence. Trying to blob several thousand folks into one system is going to make the servers burn, anyone would have been able to tell you that
Local in f-t never got above 500 for myself, i was sent in with the 3rd wave of cyno killers and after the horrib;le jumpin lag (30 mins) , saw local never approached within a few hundred of the cap. All those hundreds of people trying to jump in may have mad thesystem think they were already in there or something but i couldn't say for adam, can on;y say from what i saw.
Finally, tying to spin it that it wasn't a beautifully crafted trap makes you look silly coz the trap cost you 50 cap ships. No if's, buts ors about it. Fact

But I think that is already a bit off topic here
Occam's Razor?
I think anyone in that system, and I mean actually in the system and on that particular day can tell you that local never capped about 530 pilots.
Anyone who's used jump portalling on a consistent and large basis can also tell you that it's a great tool, but also a lot of trouble.
And finally, everyone know's lag plays a factor in this game with massive fleet battles.
So why does everyone always run to crazy cooked up theories and ideas to explain something that doesn't need explaining. I think the better question is, Why RISK 200 Capitals Jumping into Massive lag and a system with an impressive force already in it.
Why didn't the Coalition take that system and hold it for 3 days time and force BoB to be the aggressor who had to jump in?
HUGE mistakes were made by the coalition, but rather than admit them, they'd rather go with fantasy.

The biggest mistake was thinking that the game could actually handle a fleet battle.
And btw..your tactics were akin to Goons. Flood the system and lag out jump ins...some skill indeed

The capitals were cynoing in. The majority of capitals couldn't get in either until they were queued in against their will after the fight was essentially over. Relevance of the lack of support fleet due to jumpbridges not working is minimal / non-existant.
Also, 300 people in the scope of the huge support fleet available is a tiny, insignificant joke.

Yes, and so did F-T and JV1V. Hence why expecting a cap to apply is irrational.

The surrounding systems weren't "feeling the strain", they were simply disabled nearly 2 hours before the PoS came out of reinforced. Being an unreinforced constellation housing more people than F-T itself, defenders were essentially given a free ride because people could simply not move.
The RAZOR gang alone was stuck 3 jumps out, and losing battleships left and right to NPCs because people could simply not load let alone move to the next gate. Luckily I was scouting so I got the privilege of extra eyes inside F-T and the constellation minutes before movement became impossible.
The next biggest joke is that the constellation was never taken down and restarted. Hundreds of stuck petitions and restarts of the F-T node itself, but lets not accidentially let the several-fold number advantage of the coalition do anything. After all that would be following the precedent of every other major conflict so far, and be significantly less biased against the larger group of subscribers. Naw, lets hand out freebies instead.

Such a beautifully crafted trap that NPCs executed it as well as you did. Congratulations. Way to take credit for nothing.
There's really no need for me to spin anything, because the evidence is there. You can talk to the over one freakin' thousand players in gangs through the constellation, you can talk to the coalition capital pilots, you can look at killmail times compared to the PoSes death for simple proof that EvE was not working, period. When a number next to a deathmail say it was over an hour later, and you're trying to say "NO WAY MAN, WE'RE AWESOME" you might want to reevaluate your critical thinking skills.
The damage done by F-T was really not to the coalition itself, because politically and financially the impact was manageable - it was to peoples will to do large-scale combat when the decisions on hardware failure aren't even consistent, let alone of course the game supporting them. The victory you won is over peoples interest in the game and nothing else.
Speaking of which, I'm sure you have some supercap nerfs to go oppose. So run off and do that, EvE still has too many paying subscribers.

QFT while this game doesnt work at that level and seems to be helping one side more than anyone else , there just isnt no point in participating in that particular arena.

Ernest, you make it sounds like a plot to disable eve to stop the fight happening. When you have rolled with some large fleets and some large battles, you will notice that it doesn't 'just' affect the system with the gajillin people in it, but also the surrounding systems.
What gets me is you seem to be genuinely surprised that it was as laggy as it was. Numbers do affect surrounding systems whether you like to admit it or not, it simply does.
Why couldn't the coalition have moved some of its forces down days before to try and secure the system, or at the very least wear alliance forces down? Would have made more tactical sense but didn't happen because you wanted to move just one huge blob.
I don't think you would ever agree though coz your the enemy and will always see it your way. This is getting of the beaten path now so shall leave it. It's history now and no amount of spinning wil change what happened
