Hello ?
We're not talking auditing as in the type of auditing you all seem to think is going to be going on.
CCP isn't going to let you check the database or whatever yourselves. They aren't going to let you sift through the petition queues yourselves. They aren't going to let you check msn logs on their staff.
They're going to do something like a presentation of their findings on GM service quality, IA investigations of that quarter, and ISD member statistics, and let you revieuw the information on which they base it.
At least, that's the only thing that makes sense to me. Do you really believe that it's an option to train up 9 random community guys to be able to sift through all available data and look for minute signs of abuse or something ?
Of course it's not. Those people will go there as 'ambassadors' of the community, to review CCP's actions indirectly, and to give or withold their approval to CCP's conclusions on whatever they're asked to look at.
Stop asking for ******* deloitte or whatever. The main requirement will be being somewhat above average in the IQ department, and being able to present your own views in clear and concise manner to the playerbase. There's no need to be able to read code, 'cause you're not going to be seeing much of it.

Personally I would never want the job. Imagine thousands of eve-mails from people you never wanted to talk to in the first place. About issues you may or maynot even care about yourself. Not to mention the fact that you will need to isolate yourself from every player on eve just so you can remain objective.
Not for me! Good luck to whichever shmuck(s) they get to fill this role.

I suggest you use your votes for a cynical player who will do the job not another sycophantic celebrity player that sucks up to CCP to try and gain favour. We already have those.

Cyvok. He used to deal with CCP regularly and helped with the CEO interface and getting the corp tools sorted. Running a nearly 700man corp was hell with the old tools.
I've pm'd him and we have a thread going to see who would be put forward from our team.
Currently its Cyvok, Me, and MT.
I'd like Cyvok to go but that will be his call. I certainly will be put forward if he says no.
I'd like to see some of this crap cleared up and see CCP start having the game enjoyed again. I'm tired of the forum spam and crap that is thrown around. I know their has been certain problems and i sincerly hope that CCP is keeping things above board. However things like Certain Ppl have direct CCP contacts to efectivly "FastTrack" things does disturb me.
Level playing field for all? In time or we'll all be playing POTBS...

I say this election should be done IN GAME not the forums.
Matter of fact most of the committee should come from NON Alliance corporations. They should be from every walk of life of Eve, and be known IN GAME.
So another words only mission runners and pirates on the committee? Talk about corrupt than.
Every single player either in an alliance or not should get a vote. A window should pop up where you can put in 5 character names in eve. This should happen for 1 week and not on trail accounts. People with two accounts that pay by CC should only get 1 chance. Once you have made your decision its done with. If you are not on that week to bad.
I vote sirmolle and that astrate nosferatu guy. Two different views on the issue. ---------------------------

Well I tell you what. Get CCP to roll back Sisi to before Exodus... and you manage a 700man corp with the basic corp tools. No roles. No Titles etc.
Then you find out just how much grind it was to deal with each member individually.
I just hope that further revisions that CEO's and other members keep posting to the suggestions board are answered and done.
Your CEO's want to play the game too. They dont want to spend 5-6hrs sorting out Corp stuff when they login.
Eve has vast potential. The 5 year plan i hope to see carried out. Clearing up the yelling and screaming on the forums and establishing a level playing field and clearing the bugs that make EvE a matter of love and hate I'd love to see. This game is so much more than just the pvp and lagfest of POS battles etc. There has been many changes. Most... for the better. If CCP can continue to push eve forward (in a timely fashion... 1 1/2yrs for election does take the mick somewhat and other fallen promises. hint go see what was promised in exodus... to what is actually in the game) then eve will be the rising star that i joined way back after EnB's fall.

This exercise in futility is a giant waste of time.
You can't use anyone from BOB for fear of corruption in the corruption seeking.
You can't use forum warriors because they are only known on the forum.
You can't use random unknowns because "BOB ALT! ZOMG!"...
This just will not work unless it's an unbiased 3rd party of some sort.

Never entertained the notion that the position would be debugging code or picking through the petition queue.
However, and I could very well be mistaken here, I think CCP is going to bring in the people to "Audit the Auditors/Auditing process"--and to do that competantly, you would benefit a great deal from knowing what makes a good control and what is worthless or an "in name only" audit check.
Technical knowledge will be of use in making that judgement, since the relevant processes will be conducted on and against technical items.
This is largely a "Hi folks from the community, here's what we're doing, these are the IA/audit staff personnel, here are our controls, here are our remediation processes. Go tell everyone else the department exists, please" maneuver, however it is quite valid and relevant since the existance or due diligence of the department is somewhat in doubt at times and by certain significant segments of the eve population.
As such, the best candidates for this, I think, would be respectable, trusted members of Eve with something of a technical background. Along with the schedule flexibility, passport issue, etc.
Oh, for the record: I have my passport up to date.

If anything, the candidates must be passionate about EvE, preferably been playing since early retail or even beta (to be able to fully understand what working with a community as ours means) and be able to show neutrality.
This isn't that much of a Alliance vs Coalition issue as it's a customer vs CCP issue. So all the crap about electing people from alliance A or corp B doesn't really matter, as we're all paying customers afterall and people should not be chosen cause they are in a specific corp or follow a specific profession in EvE. The choice should be made based on who the community thinks are thrustworthy and able players, people who will represent both the EvE community and CCP honorably.
I'm sure certain Alliance members would be acceptable for the Coalition, and vice versa.
Guess we'll have to wait and see where CCP actually wants to go with this.

I will be taking bets on sirmolle in round 3 :)
I agree totally with you on every accept the alliance vs coalition issue. Their should be at least one member from each side that is fairly knowledgeable about whats going on ingame and such (doesn't have to be a BOB or RAGOON guy, but someone from their sides). The rest of the slots can be filled with anyone. If ccp didn't allow 1 person from each side to join the committee than we will be right back were we started before the committee was mentioned. ---------------------------

I have personally been playing since August 2003 and I have never worked for CCP before. Not as a volunteer, not as an employee. I'm sure there are other players like me, who have been playing for 4 years or longer, who haven't worked for CCP (except of course the alpha/beta testing).

I'm not a Goon nor a BoB member, nor have I ever been. I'm not an ISD member, a forum moderator nor have I ever spoken to a Dev (not without me knowing he was a Dev at least). Only category I might remotely fall under is forum celebrity, although I seriously doubt many people know me except for, of course, the infamous chat I had with SirMolle once which made me the laughing stock of EvE back in 2004.
If, and that's a big 'if', I would be a candidate, I think I would meet the current unofficial criteria as an EvE-loving, cheating/exploiting/metagaming-hating player. I would no doubt give CCP and the employees who are affiliated with BoB a hard time, but I wouldn't ignore the exploiting from certain Coalition members either (complex-farming anyone?). But again, IF.

I must say - I think that this whole thing sounds like a charade. Players vote players to go to Iceland to "audit" CCP.
So what happens when SirMolle gets 5,000 votes, and TWD gets 5,000 votes, and all the BoB folks get alts, who vote for their own. They've got the numbers to make it happen.

Considerinbg the damage to the perceived reputation of CCP and EVE that BoB has done, they should be out of the running for getting on this board and probably should have the grace to bow out on their own.
This is SUPPOSED to be about FIXING CCP's waning credibility with its players, and having BoB members, pets, alts, etc ISNT gonna do that. Fine... Ill play nice |
