Originally by: Koryvarn In case you don't know, Tiscali run 2 forms of bandwidth management.
One is Traffic Shaping, where they throttle your connection speed. Tyr to watch youtube video's during the evening and you'll prolly get bored of waiting for an hour for a 3 min clip.
The second, and the one that I think we're running into here, is blocking of P2P applications like Limewire, Azuereous, etc during prime time hours of 6PM and 12PM.
Somehow the packets EVE are sending are getting flagged and discarded, hence the pings / tracerts being ok, but not actually being able to connect.
It's 23.55 now, and if eveonline works in 5 mins, then I guess I'm right.
i agree, i have had this happen before, but not for a few months it has been ok, now it starts again.

Exactly! I was going to try Bitlord and if my torrents started to flow simultaneous to being able to login to Eve again , then post to suggest you guys try logging in again!
There I was thinking I was imagining it. I bet it will work soon. So why the hell has Tiscali flagged Eve, and can we get CCP to shout at them?

So this proves that, as Koryvarn's said, it's P2P blocking.

I suggest all Tisacli users complain on the forums: http://www.tiscali.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=385
Stating that they are unable to log on to EVE during the hours P2P services are throttled. For me, it started 25th June, around 7PM.
If enough of us do it, they might pay attention.

Edited by: Komac on 26/06/2007 11:26:29 EDIT: Ok, I see, you need to register *again*, seperately, for the use of the forums.
Ok... I just went to their site, logged in, went to their forums and found 2 (yes TWO) seperate references to me being logged in, one saying I am logged in and one saying I'm not?
Anyway, if I try and log in, it accepts my username/password but when I get back to the forums it says I'm still not logged in.
Anyone else getting that? An inability to log in and post?

Yeah...Ive been kicked off again (twice). Happened at lunchtime for an hour, now I guess it'll be until about midnight.
I've shouted at Tiscali who say "Sir, we don't really support on-line gaming" and I've asked for a mac-code. Now I have to convince their billing department that I've quit contract early for a valid reason.
I urge everyone to phone Tiscali, give them grief and quit their service!

Tiscali are such ar***oles! 25 mins in the cue only to discover that I'm talking to the wrong person because their menu-system doesn't adequately describe each department's function.
As soon as that mac code comes thru I close the bank account from which Tiscali draw funds, and wait for them to take me to court. I shall enjoy explaining how Tiscali suddenly decide to stop us from playing...and then decide its ok... and then stop us again.

dude just phone your bank and cancel the direct debit, much easier

Yeah I should do that, but my bank says things like, "some companies try to set up the direct debit again under a different reference number".
I'm gonna get hit for about 200 quid for breaking contract with Tiscali, and unfortunately none of Tiscali's front-line troops can sanction me quitting on them. Not risking the idiots taking ú200 off me...that's food and beer money!!

Like many people here, its starting to get annoying with Tiscali.
It only started happening to me since yesterday, and previously it worked fine up until then. And so much for the idea of it being from 6pm to 12am, it is happening earlier today than yesterday. I'm not a person who will start playing at 12am and then find I have to sleep for work in the morning, return from work after 5pm when its still blocked/restricted, which pretty much limits play time to near zero.
If nothing changes throughout today, I too will be making some 'interesting' phone calls tomorrow...

Well my mac code just came thru.
I spoke to BT who assure me they don't decide to throttle games, the migration is due to happen 2 days before my Tiscali billing date... so sc**w Tiscali! Mwahhhhh!! <----evil laugh.

Was online this afternoon, but seems I can't get on now. Thankfully, I didn't plan on being able to log on, so won't loose training time... lost 8 hours yesterday, more if I hadn't stayed up until late. Not happy with that at all.

I was wondering if any of you know how I can find out the remaining time left on my contract from the tiscali website, other than phoning them? I've already found the phone number at http://www.tiscali.co.uk/aboutus/codeofpractice.html#7 though, but if I could avoid waiting in line on the phone, that'd be useful.

Edited by: Gribbins on 26/06/2007 18:22:19 Have you thought about trying to back track through your bills on the tiscali site. That'd tell you when you signed up.
Just requested my MAC code from tiscali myself, this is the final straw for me, now going to move to one of the packages on the page below, not much more than the tiscali connection either.

The thing about Tiscali is that: 1: Its cheap, very cheap. The phone + BB Max package is actually an awesome deal when it works. Even tho the peak time speeds are 0.3Mbit, they do say they are currently fixing this issue, but then theyve been saying crap like that for ages.
2: The monthly download limits are indeed genuinley unlimited. That is to say as long as u dont p2p during peak time. Peak time p2p WILL get u FUP'd and it really doesnt take much bandwidth at all for them to clamp on u during that time. Which is actually a moot point seeing as speeds are crap peak times anyway.
But to most avg users, tiscali does look very very attractive. And here is the problem, for us who actually use the internet for what it was designed for. We have to shout louder than the sheer collective volume of sheep bleating how good the deal is.
I think I have about a month left of my contract. I doubt I will renew it. The issue will be finding an isp with a good bandwidth allocation to price per month ratio. A never ending struggle as I'm not in a cable area.
CABLE - If you can, you should = So true.
BTW. I only revived my EVE account today after a very long break from it. I played for 1 hour and I havent been able to play since. Very very frustrating.
