Right, thought I'd add to this, I'm have all the same problems as you guys, "Status Unknown" OR perpetual Checking Status, HOWEVER I am not with Tiscali!
I am with Toucan, what the christ bejesszus is going on?
Clean installs don't help it neither.
Edit : Tracert displays a Tiscali address about 6th in the 8 jumps it takes for me to ping the Eve router, could it be that I am feeling the pain for Tiscali's f**k up's and I'm not even with them?

tiscali and pipex customers will have the same problem, my guess is toucan runs on the same network as tiscali, as does pipex

Sorry to break it to you.. you ARE with tiscali - toucan use the tiscali network. Basically they resell tiscali broadband under their own brand.

Toucan just outright denied that fact on the phone.
"No Sir, that would not be the problem Sir, we do not use the Tiscali network, any problems you are having would be due to the BT network."
Now what? They say I should upgrade to a 2mps line (ú1) more and that will stop it. They are working on the basis that if my current line (576kbps) was 4 times larger, it would only reduce so much, thus I would have enough remaining to use Eve

i think its rubbish, tiscali told me to downgrade and it would fix it, it hasnt now im on a crappy 1mb connection. the problem lies with IPStream see here : Linkage

Does anyone have the problem when it gets to Acqurinig Bulk Data and then it hangs? Plz say yes cus then it is somethin eles for me to b***h to tiscali bout. My dad wont change ISP so its really annoying.

I got the same problem, but just with my PC. Just status unknown. My laptop runs fine, without problems. I did try anything but nothing worked out. And no, i'm not a tscali user. Does anyone have a idea?

Anything that can be done (apart from assasinating anyone who has anything to do with ****cali)?

Yup me too. Just as I was saying to my mate 'I'm thinking of ratting or something until Tiscali gets their act together'. Either that or I'm going to use www.your-freedom.net again. The free package works but disco's every 60 minutes. It's not expensive but it's not something we should have to do.

Bloody can't stand tiscali, they suck big time. the good news is that my 12 month contract expired this month and as i'm about to move I'll be getting a new isp...which one I don't know. They're all like mibile phone companies these days, ie. all crooks and as bad as each other.
Hope to see you in game if one can actually get back in there at some stage

Thats odd, I didnt get disconnected, so maybe this morning isnt a genral tiscali fault but something more specific or local?
Anyhoo it is indeed beyond a joke now.
For those that still dont know ... go to RUN, type CMD, press enter
Type
tracert www.bbc.co.uk
If yr first or second address has "ips" somewhere in it then you can apply for a mac code to leave tiscali. If you are still within your 12 month contract you will not be charged.
for example:
lo99.lon-x-ips.as9105.net

Ahh I live in australia and am with a broadband company named Dodo, this has never happened to me besides today 30th June 1 hour before maint (29th over in euro)... I entered my pass in wrong then it happened, previously it showed the status, odd?

I am a tiscali user and i find i can go on in the morning (GMT) till shut down then i can't get on from then on.

Hey, am a toucan subscriber and as ive read toucan is just tiscali in disguise so i get the same problems :(
It happens to me around 4pm GMT till 12am then i can play all night if am not tired but today if went of at 11am!!! and so far (10 past 3) it isint on yet which is extremely annoying.
Thanks god ive been docked every time this has happened.
I cant make a complaint at the link a few of you have given because toucan is not listed and i asked toucan on the phone is they were in anyway connected to ticali but of cource they said they werent lol so i quess ill have to wait out my contract cause i dont have the cash to pay the whole contract and whats even worse is that the contract renewed because i upgraded to 8meg a month ago so am pretty F****D.
But am going to downgrade to 2meg again because the speeds still suck at 8meg and i never had any problems at 2meg so we will see how it goes.

Well guys, I got kicked off again this morning and still can't get on. I guess we'll be ok after quarter past midnight (as usual), although I'll be down the pub by then!
Since I started this topic I've quit contract on Tiscali and look forward to them chasing me for the money... if they have no contract small-print then it could be that Tiscali is breaking trade descriptions.
APPEAL: To any CCP people reading this...please talk to Tiscali on our behalf, because it's also your belhalf too. We support the game fanatically, maybe you could support us! (ie. those forced to stay with Tiscali).
