All i can say is I beter have my drake intact and no scratches on it. I was in a middle of fighting 3 BS spawns before the client booted me out. Now i'm also back at authenticating....

Those 17k that are 'still playing' are probably staring at their ships bouncing back and forth between warp points, or watching as their guns/missiles are not firing and the rats are just sitting there eating their drones/ship... eventually they will get "connection to server lost" just like we all have and come in here and whine, just like we have.
Reboot in... I would wager 45 minutes? Then another reboot 1 hour after that... and one final one 2 hours after that.

Right after I thought I had the issue fixed. I could not connect period. Did a tracert and found a server the game was going through in san jose was down. A level3.net thing. Called them they reset the server and I was on. Now I too am stuck at authenticating. I also noticed that the hop across the pond to the london.level3.net is taking a long while. That might be part of it.

This is what I'm getting when I try to connect now, but my internet connection is surely fine. Can't be uTorrenting up and downstream at a few MB/sec with no internet, nosiree.
One of the servers must've caught the net-neutrality virus and croaked or something.
If brute force isn't solving your problems, then you aren't using enough.

I went from the "authenticating" sticking to a message that says.
"Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."
I know my side is running green, so yeah may be sitting here a while. Is this issue normal? I haven't actually payed for this game yet and this has me wondering if this game is plagued by the same lousy customer service that killed other really good games.

Not lousy customner service, but more server instability. I have always found customer service to be pretty good, and in 3 years of playing this is the second crash I have been part of. I know there are more, but I guess I have been lucky.

hmm actually when I noticed things were going downside-up I tried to access forums to see if there were reported problems and the forums were down too. Main page was fine, but kept getting errors for the forums page...came back about 3 mins after the server booted me off.

I agree the customer service is good, remember its was like 4.45am when it happened, they have to work out why it happens and get people to fix it, i'm sure they dont keep a FULL team on at that time of the morning, it is after all before business hours.

At least someone is working on it. That or the server is set to just automatically restart until someone kills it off with a 12 gauge!
Maybe they have a poorly trained, poorly paid guy sitting in a room watching a screen that flashes "Online" and when it says "Error", he is trained to click "Restart". I bet he's sweating now! WHAT'S THE MATTER? RESTART BUTTON ISN'T WORKING, IS IT?! HUH?!

hey at least those 17228 players that kept showing up as online got booted too dammit.
Does anyone else get the feeling they haven't changed the stability so much as changed the way the INstability shows up?
Like it used to be that the forums DIED when the server died, now they just lag.
And I seriously doubt 17228 players stayed online for the 20 minutes before the server finally rebooted the [i]first[i] time/

Hmmm... ok now it authenticates ok, I get to the character selection screen, click my main, and get stuck at "Entering game as Ibo Tpmp" or whatever. It's been a minute or two now... Oh wait, it just finally finished and my ship is ok. Yay!

I just want to thank the entire Eve community for trusting in me and letting me check it out first. I think it was key in the smooth restart of the server. I am truly touched. lol Now that my skills are rolling, time for bed here on the east coast of the US. Have fun and good luck. Might want to set a longer skill just in case!

I cant get in as well, it also says that there are 0 players playing. So problem is not fixed. :'(
Thankfully Im training a skill that takes a few days to finish. :)

I'm playing right now, but holy crap is it laggy. At least I got my ship to a base now, so if the server goes down again I don't have to sweat bullets like I was before (it crashed when I was in the open as a sitting duck).

Another update: I am in the game and it is responding to me (good thing, I have a skill completing in 5min) but I'm flying somewhere on autopilot and when I got to the warp gate I got this message:
2007.07.18 07:07:16 Notify [system name deleted] Traffic Control is currently offline and unable to process your jump request. Please try again in a moment.
So not all is well with the world, even for those of us who are logged in.

I think you'll find that that the whole EVE universe isn't loaded in one go after a reboot but areas are loaded as and when required, hence the message. Far more efficient that way, no point loading stuff that isn't needed at the time.
I get them all the time when I'm on the test server.

I still can't log in. I'm getting Incompatible (Release) messages.
I changed to a test server to check if it was up. Worked fine. But I wonder if me changing to that server screwed up my ability to log into Trinity? I know in some other mmo's this happens.
How do I fix this?

THIS PROBLEM CAN BE SOLVED BY CHANGING MTU PARAMETER IN WINDOWS REGISTRY TO 1400
FOR YOURS NETWORK ADAPTER.
