I dont think its your end it has something to do with the old settings/char/PC-info...yesterday after patching my client popped up for 10sek and disappeared but stays in memory without trying to connect.
I deleted all eve-folders and installed the full-client. After that all worked fine

Edited by: Darth Vaders on 25/07/2007 15:43:25 EDITED FOR UPDATE:
I just got the update that fixes the memory leak. So that guy in chat channel was well informed and the patch was on its way :) Good good! No more memory leaks then :)
--------------------- I haven't read the whole thread. The game overall looks like going faster indeed. Yet it seems to consume much more memory (RAM) now for some reason.
Many others have experienced the same issue. So i d dare to talk about possible MEMORY LEAK.
The memory leak seems to be aumenting with every passing gate. Somehow the jump gates create memory leak for some reason. I don't know if this has already been fixed. I haven't played at all today . Some guys in the chat channel told me that this was a known fact and that CCP was on way to fix it soon. In any case i thought good to post it also here in case you didn't know it. ---------------------------------

The response I got back was "The problem you have described was not reproducable. ... Your bugreport has been closed." All they had to do to reproduce the bug was go to Known Issues page. It says Build 33752 as broad as day. I even provided the link to their own page.
Three patches behind now. One behind is understandable, but three?

EvE's still raping my ram; not as bad as before this fix though, but up until the python update my system was using a total of 760 or so megs of ram out of 1500 (on vista with a couple of other things running, not all eve don't worry). Now since the python patch, with all the same stuff running and only the eve client changed, my system is munching 1000 or so.

We're still looking into memory leaks. Todays patch should plug the worst of it but we are aware that in some cases leaks can still be found. This IS being looked into :)

Hello After applying the patch, the eve client closed twice with no notice at all . The first time I was in a station tring to buy something from the market but the second time I was engaged against some rogue drones by a stargate with my own drones in the fight. when i relogged in the game, the emergency warp out hadn't worked and i was still there by the stargate with my drones circling around my ship like I hadn't been disconnected from the server. So what caused it?? Luckilly i wasn't engaged in a PVP fight!!!!!

I have already filed a bug report for this, but just so people know they're not alone: I am still having problems with Server Status UKNOWN reports, stopping me from logging in.
I made a completely fresh install, and the system did prompt me to install the new patch. To me this means that there is communication possible between my client and the server, at least enough to determine version numbers and to download the patch.
I even uninstalled my new antivirus app but that hasn't made any difference. Hope you fix this soon, because I'm starting to get withdrawals....

I can't download the patch from the client, and when trying the manual link on the support page, my DNS can't resolve the address ( ccp.vo.llnwd.net ).
Can you provide an IP address for download of the patch?

To clarify above:
I patched successfully yesterday. Today, I'm unable to get a patch that is reportedly 500 kB in size (to address memory leak issues?). The support page link that won't resolve is:

Thanks for the link. Looks like my problem was on my ISP's end. Comcast was having some major routing issues today, apparently.

I still can't persuade the client to run. I get a splash-screen then nothing. It's not technically crashing (process still running under file manager), it's just not actually doing anything.
This is after a reboot and a re-install from the laterst client version.
My security softwear (F-Secure Internet Security Suite 07) is not listing anything as being blocked.
And the bug reporting srvice won't let me report this for some reason.
*sigh*

Edited by: Hammes on 25/07/2007 19:57:47 I also have this odd "status unknown"-issue: I patched manually 35183, rebooted and cleared my cache after a futile try to run EVE, but still no change. I changed neither my system nor the EVE-Client, except the two patches and my internet connection is working fine too...
Nevertheless: CCP is doing a great job!

Edited by: ko''jalah on 25/07/2007 20:55:09 So... today at about 23:40 (GMT+2)I had a de-sync within eve (being surrounded by 6-7 enemies)... since then it does not login anymore i get: " Connection Timeout - The server did not respond to the client's secure-handshake request within a reasonable amount of time:. The server status is ok but just cannot login. What happens with my ship and character during this period?

Or in other words you have no problem with CCP's development and QA methods. If you did you would have left a while ago.
To the masses:
No software package is bug free. None. There never will be until we have a completely different coding methodology. The current technology makes it impossible to have bug free software. If you don't like this and CCP is soo bad then please cancel. Put your money where your mouth is. It's right there on the left. Go click it. No? Didn't think so. At least please stop spamming useless whine posts.
I did leave - 4 months ago in fact. If I couldn't play this game for free I wouldn't be playing it at all with either of my accounts. <3 GTC and all that.
fwiw, I know there will always be bugs. Bugs are acceptable as long as they are handled in a systematic fashion to get them fixed. Systematic doesn't mean "emergency patch that patch that patched the last emergency patch." Systematic means go through and thoroughly test the code before you deploy it. I mean, all it took to expose this memory leak was to, uh, fly around. You didn't even need to kill stuff. Did the QA team just... not fly around in testing or something? ========== CELES KB: http://www.celeskills.com

OK, so by now I hope someone at CCP is aware of this problem...would it be TOO much to ask that you change the MOTD on login to reflect this? Something like "There is a problem, we are working on it" instead of the irritating "patch deployed" message?
BTW...people are only seeing "server status OK" because the client is caching the damn result! Switch to a test server and back again, and all of sudden server is NOT ok... ---
I don't mind you disagreeing with me. Just don't say I don't have the SKILLS to comment. |
