Hey folks, just wondering if this is just a problem I'm having? I can't log on, always shows as "checking status". EveMon is also reporting server down, then server working, then server down, et al.
Anyone else?

Thats what I get, however I'm also suffering from being unable to connect, evemon throwing a fit, and when I do connect after a few minutes I get "Connection lost" messages.
This has only been happening to me since the last server update
My internet provider is eclipse in the UK. Think I'll go ask them a few questions. |

Edited by: Mazaron on 15/08/2007 09:39:22 Ah, thank goodness I noticed this thread! Same problem for me, and lo and behold, I am also with Eclipse. I just sent a stuck petition too.
Has anybody got an update on the situation?

Just got off the phone with tech support...
He ran an exhaustive array of tests on the exchange>me, exchange>eve, and had me run tests from me>exchange, me>eve...
From what he could tell, there isn't a single thing that would be causing the problem. He's going to run more tests throughout the day on the testing machines at the main "hq", and he'll phone me back either a) if he finds a problem, or b) to tell me he didn't find any problems.
The only other suggestions he could give was rebooting routers/pc's, flushing dns (ipconfig /flushdns from cmd.exe), checking firewalls or the ever-so-common check wiring/filters.
I get 0% packet loss from all the tests, and they got 0% loss, too. So it's not a routing/external cabling problem. Pings came good from both sites, so it's not a connection problem per-se.
He also says that they never block ports, unless a user is abusing (trojan/virus) it, so that's not the problem.
They have no known service problems at this time, all services running fine. Network load is average, so it's not down to too many dorks eating up our bandwidth!
Sorry to say, I don't know what else to suggest. We can just sit and hope it resolves itself sometime during the day. Personally, I'm off to reboot my machines and routers.
I'll keep you informed either way :)

Great, I've already swapped from my ancient 5 year old speedtouch router I got from Eclipse to my new ADSL2MUE modem (waiting for the crossover cable to arrive so I can link it up to a WRT54GS with DD-WRT firmware.) So that can't be a problem. *Sigh* I needs my EVE.

Well, that's interesting. I'll try another powercycle of the modem and do a reboot.

Just got a call from Eclipse techs... They've been on the phone to the eve sysadmins, who are reporting no problem. He suggested a flushdns (Check previous post) and try again. It could be a corrupt dns resolution, and that'll make your machine check again.
Have tried it here, and servers are showing okay.

Minor update..
Just connected fine. Went right in this time (Usually it'd take *ages* at the "Entering game as Xaltor" screen).
Evemon hasn't reported a server outage yet, so that's a good sign. Rebooting/Flushing seems to have done the jolly. (So far so good, at any rate)

ar'Thez Daapthorn are you with Eclipse?
Wait, I just managed to login. Yay. I power cycled the modem, did ipconfig /flushdns and rebooted. Seems to be working now. If I get disconnected I'll post back here.

I've also been having this problem. My ISP is also Eclipse...
Th problem comes and goes, over the past few days. Sometimes it will hang at "checking status" - other times it will let me log in, then hang at "entering game as...". Occasionally it will let me log in, but then I get occasional disconnections.

Can I ask all eclipse users with this problem to do the following...
Start > Run > cmd.exe
At the prompt, type: ping -n 30 87.237.38.200
Then paste the results (That show at the end) in a post.
Thanks, this might help me while I'm talking to support.

[[And can I just add, although it seems from these posts that our ISP is awful, they really, really aren't. Eclipse is by far the best ISP I've ever had. So don't take them in a bad light because of this issue. Their support folks are being *VERY* helpful on the phone.]]

Ping statistics for 87.237.38.200: Packets: Sent = 30, Received = 30, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 29ms, Maximum = 33ms, Average = 30ms
I have to agree, Eclipse are by far the best UK ISP, especially when it comes to customer support.

Hey .. me too! Eclipse customer support may be helpful, but I'd still rather have it work and not have to deal with them. It cleared up after midnight last night and went back to griefing me at 08:45 this morning.

Update [on the phone still]
Tech suppor has circulated an internal email about the problem, all departments are aware and trying to resolve. still on the phone, keeping you updated.

Okay, off the phone again...
All departments are trying to find out what's happening, but they can't see any reasons whatsoever for this problem. The only possible explanation they can find is that there was possible corrupted dns data at some point, and the new (right) data is still propogating. He says all we can really do is wait and see on that front.
They're still going to run internal tests and such throughout the day, and will keep me informed. I'm also going to get my NID running a constant trace/ping on the server IP, to try and determine if there's a severe level of packet loss. So far, I've had 0% packet loss, but time will tell.
Sorry I can't provide more details yet, but I *will* tell you what I know, as I know it. I hope we can all get back to Eve-ing soon.

I hope this thread doesn't get locked for this, but...
Are any of you expericing problems with other connections? Any other games showing the same signs of connection issue?
I re-installed windows yesterday, so I don't actually have anything else installed to check with, but if any of you are having problems on other games that are similar to the problems here, please let me know. The more data I have when I speak to the support folks, the better (and faster) the problem can be diagnosed.
Additionally, if any of you are willing to post your *general* location within the UK, that might narrow down a problem.
I'm in Suffolk.

Eve is the only online game I play. I'm in London. My connection was rather poor for a while last night - but when that cleared up the "checking status" thing remained. Once I'm ingame it's ok - although I did get disconnected last night, and it then took 30 minutes of trying to get back in.
It also took repeated attempts to log in earlier this morning.

If there are any CCP folks on who can give us an offical word on something..
Have there been any IP changes in regards to the main servers in the past 72 hours?
Are you expericing any problems with other users, or heavy traffic?
Can you let me put a pink bunny on the front of my cruiser?
Thanks in advance.
