Check the previous page, I edited my other post. Also I forwarded this thread to a CCP dev via the petition system after they replied to my stuck petition.

I'll forward that information when I speak to support.. I guess we can just hope that server-downtime fixes some hitherto unknown problem.

Yeah, guess there's no point crying over spilt milk, aka no point crying about not being able to login, even though the downtime is about to arrive. Hopefully everything will be back to normal.

Yep, absolutely. As annoying as this is, from what I (and the various support guys I've been in contact with) can tell, there's no one to blame, so we should just practice what Eve is all about.. Patience. :)
I will continue to keep this thread updated until the problem is resolved, one way or another.
Thank you everyone for your input so far, too. I hope we all get back in our pods as soon as possible.
[[And to the Eclipse tech who will be reading this post soon, thanks for the great phone support, hope we can find a resolution soon(tm)]]

Raises the questions of when did this start, and what caused it. Would be interesting to know.

I also had this problem on Wednesday and Thursday of last week. It was ok over the weekend though.

Well, personally, I first noticed it thismorning at around 9am, I think. I was having no problems yesterday, pre and post windows-re-install. I hit the bed at around 7pm last night (I work nights, not a pre-set bedtime from mommy), got up at 3am. Started work, tried to log on to change my skill from my over-night one.. Was disconnected before I could change. Tried again, and again. Then psoted on the forums.
Others?

Edited by: Mazaron on 15/08/2007 11:01:27 I believe I was being disconnected a few times last night, as well as this morning. The disconnections yesterday were just before the whole EVE node system crashed. (I got disconnected 2 or 3 times)
EDIT: Wait, could that not be the cause? The sudden crash of the whole node network could have broken something?

Yeah, it's possible. Or at least, it's one pebble that could have caused the ripples. Nothing else has been found/seen that could have caused it.
CCP, anything official to say on this?

Just to complicate matters for you, I am in Thailand and I am having the same problems as you all. started a few hours ago when I started crashing at gates, and steadily worsened till I couldn't get past the character selection screen.
DT now so hoping its resolved after. I petitioned it and have had a GM holding my hand for the past few hours while I crashed every 5 minutes. He has sent my Stuck petition to the technical department "Queue" ---------- Gallente and Minmater Faction standings transfer service, fast and efficient service, Eve-mail for info, |

Are you crashing, or getting disconnected? If your getting disconnected an error box will pop up stating so.

It is quite possible that Eclipse like most other DSL providers mark the packets based on ports. In this case it is possible that EVE traffic end up in the same traffic queue as filesharing (lowest possible priority). However to make them look good ping/trace end up in the high priority queue.
That your issues has anything to do with DNS is nothing but BS as the EVE client use the IP address so no need for lookup.
So next would be to ask them if they do anything stupid with traffic to port 26000.

Actually, if indeed it's the same problem, that doesn't complicate it. It makes it easier to diagnose. Initially, we assumed it was eclipse causing the problem. With more factors, such as a different ip/country, we can pretty safely assume it's not eclipse specifically. It could be CCP's end. Or somewhere inbetween us all.
I say we wait and see what happens after downtime. Maybe everything will be working normally, and we can say "It was probably CCP, but it's oikay now so let's just play". ;)
Anyway, waiting to see.

I've already conversed with them on this matter. They never block/re-route ports unless a user is specifically abusing that port for some reason (trojans etc). They confirmed that I have no blocks, and no traffic limits on my line. So.. It's safe to say that isn't the problem.
Thanks for the input, though! :)

I'm with eclipse as well and had these problems last night, swapped a spare router i had kicking about and it made no difference, spoke to tech support today at work and they placed me on a static IP and the wife was able to connect after we rebooted the router
The connection seemed stable and the wife was able to connect to her accounts ok and she hasn't called to to say its broken again as of up to downtime today.

Thanks for the input there. I'm already on a static IP (3 of them, to be exact). Not sure what else in that might have helped. Eating lunch now, hope for happiness afterwards ;)

Just got connected, then dropped before I even got in-game. Not a good sign. I'm giving benefit of the doubt because it's post-downtime-rush.

I am getting status "unknown" since DT, I can see the numbers online steadily rising before each attempt.
And yes I was crashing to desktop, and it seems Eve isn't creating any error log dump files. Gets caught by surprise I guess.
I have 2 clients separated by the End/LUA suffix and all has been ok up till the last few days. Nothing changed at my end.

I am getting in to the char-select screen, but no further. It just hangs, or doesn't get as far as that at all.
Although Evemon hasn't popped up saying server offline yet, which is new.

Connected right away after a re-install of Eve. No sign of a drop yet, keeping an eye on markets as they stop responding prior to a disconnect.
