Don't bet on it.
Some of us are here for the time being to ensure that the forums stay clean and friendly
Which forums? We've already lost Buy/Sell/Trade. That was probably the most trafficked part. Other than the clownshow that is CAOD there's hardly anything left that requires moderating or is even worth visiting...
I just checked, and really shockingly, you're right. Sell Orders = 89736 topics, General Discussion (which I assumed was the most trafficked) = 77970 --------

Thanks for all the hard work, and I hope the joys of retirement outweigh by far the regrets. :) * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I've only been in Aurora for about 6 months now, but that time has been fantastic for me. My heartfelt thanks go out to:
All the actors with whom I've had so many amusing and entertaining in-game, in-character interactions...
All the producers who take the time and effort to create deep, detailed, twisted, intriguing plot arcs...
All the senior producers who gave me mentoring, feedback, inspiration, and guidance when it was time to start creating my own events...
All the leads who suffered graciously through my innumerable mis-steps and questions...
Our esteemed Vice Admiral Galen, who spent incredible amounts of time setting up all of the characters, ships, and equipment such that we could interact with players in all sorts fo new and interesting ways...
And last but not least, to all of the players who interacted with us. We did everything for you guys, and it was very gratifying to see the kind of response we got from the people whom we touched over the course of our events.
In general, I think that the events team brought something unique and interesting to EVE that is unparalleled in the MMO world. It allowed players to interact with the setting on a much deeper level, and allowed players the opportunity to actually shape their surroundings in subtle yet sometimes surprisingly lasting ways. I'm proud to have been a part of that.
To all of my other ISD homies, I loved all of the inane chatter in IRC, all of the goofy stories, all of the strutting, chest-beating discussions about which division of ISD >>> all, the thought-provoking idea sessions, and hte opportunity to make friends with cool people from all over the world who share both a love and a vision for the world of EVE. You will all be sorely missed.
It's been a great ride, and I'm glad I was able to take part in it. Plus also, GALEN FOR EMPEROR!

Well, I'm still confused. This is all rather vague. It seems like a purging and re-organizing. Hmm.
Thanks so much to all you terrific moderators, events coordinators, bug hunters, and other crazy ISD volunteers. I've only been round for a year and a bit, and I'm sad that I didn't become more involved in roleplay and events. I hope Eve will continue as well as you've made it under the new system.
Cheers!

Why?
Are you trying to help us poor Eve addicts back to real life by making Eve more dull, more disappointing, or will there eventually be some small positive in killing off this part of Eve?
It's quite sad to see Eve become blander so I hope that Eve survives long enough to see something good come out of this.

Probably for the best. You broke our trust time and again, and while I realize not everyone in ISD or Aurora were bad apples, there certainly were enough to spoil the bunch. But at least CCP is learning the same lesson every other MMO company has had to learn - that a volunteer events service will always wind up corrupt sooner or later. Hopefully CCP keep that in mind for whatever they decide to do to replace it.

Long ago, I was a member of a support team for another MMO. I recall the hard and often thankless work. I remember when the entire team was dragged through the mud by the players because of problems that we had no means of controlling. I remember getting "bad marks" from players because I wasn't able to give them the answer they wanted to hear.
Still, I kept at it. I would be surprised if my reasons were any different from any of yours. Love of the community, love of the game, and a burning desire to make a real difference.
Then there were the great days, when everyone seemed to be grateful for your help. The days when you watched a new player "get it", because of your help. The days when you saved an op for dozens of people by forcing the brain-dead quest mob to unstick. The days when every single petition seemed to go just right, and every single player seemed truly grateful for your assistance. The days when you overhear a couple of players talk about the great event they just attended.
Folks, let this be one of those days. Thank you for your selfless service!
On a slightly different note, maybe six months ago in Lonetrek a couple of you folks tried running an event where the plot was to destroy a merchant who was preventing grain shipments to a competing merchant's livestock...
Forgive me if I seemed uncooperative, but I really did enjoy the interaction, even though I think you folks thought I was being uncooperative. As a vegetarian, my perspective was completely different from what you were expecting. I admit, though, I did enjoy throwing you for a loop like that. No hard feelings? ;-)
Best regards,
Gridcrash

Believe it or not I will actually miss all you forum jockeys
While it's sad to step away from the forums and something I've enjoyed for a while now, It's always a good feeling to watch the game, and the community grow.
Thank you to each and every one of my colleagues in the [CRC], I've learned a lot in my time with the team, and stayed up far too late on far too many nights keeping the community's forums from imploding, Thank you to the guys in Aurora who've put in the effort to keep producing events, and Thank you to everyone who's posted, spammed, whined, discussed, bought, sold, traded, trolled, and ranted on the forums.
It has been a pleasure ladies, gentlemen, and creatures not falling into those categories. Please continue to show the same respect for the new forum moderation and ISD staff that you have for us mods
Ohh... and I was posting In Limegreen long before anyone else thought it fashionable

Sorry to the ISD guys, it must be hard for something like what you had to come to an end like this, but I think it had to be done.
The sheer lack of respect from a number of posters to CCP and their fellow players has turned these forums into a very difficult and unpleasant place to visit. Every thread getting bogged down in pointless posts and flaming does not count as "character". I look forward to the future improvements.

Thanks for the confirmation on who's modding the forum, however i will enjoy seeing 2 full timers trying to do the job of 50 or w/e volunteers.
Also I wonder if this could have anything to do with it :O
Somehow i missed that little gem, however i was lucky enough to have it shown by a friend tonight, good to know some ******* idiot is probably spamming all our emails to random 3rd party **** and insurance sites.

Positive direction for CCP; I'm surprised and impressed by the willingness to change this. It was needed. Thank you for taking steps to "plug this hole." Bughunters being relegated to localization and forum moderation being brought out of the hands of volunteers -- I'm speechless. Real, Positive, Change. Fantastic. The ramifications of this are as near-praise worthy as any change that has raised the accountability level in the past year.
Empathy and appreciation to those volunteers that gave their time and effort for nothing more then the betterment of the community. I hope that your willingness to contribute isn't at all stifled by a change in role. I'd imagine the best of you will hardly notice as you shift gears and become part of something even greater...
Huh... I'm almost optimistic? Don't tease me!

Tbph, it needed to be done. Just like Ole Yeller needed to be shot.
If I may put it obliquely, I intended to join AURORA at one point and then later backed off for almost precisely this reason (also to go volunteer in NoLa instead - which was probably a better use of time than internet spaceships, but I digress). Good fences make good neighbors, and the vol. dept. had way too few fences.
Here's thanking the volunteers who didn't succumb to corruption despite the lack of regulations and accountability (I'm sure you know who you are - and it is appreciated by all the players) and looking forward to a rebuilt, more professional events team.

I tried to join CRC twice, but the form kept timing out
To all the CRC that have had to put up with a rediculous amount of tinfoilhattery and generic spamming, and to all the AURORA that spent 6 months setting up a 5 minute shooting match, I wish you good luck in your future endeavours, whatever they may be.

You guys have been great, and I've considered trying to join you several times. Mainly backed out because I had things to do like program a robot (that was about as cooperative as the forums), or didn't think I had enough experience.
RIP ISD. . .
Was always fun reading a thread and realizing that there were half a dozen random mod posts in there, that had personality. Who is going to hijack our threads now?
That poor pair of professional mods you hire, they're going to need some serious reinforcements. . . And no, it won't be me who they require reinforcement to deal with.

as unhappy i am with the level of moderation on the forums here, i'm happy to see that CCP not only uses it's customers as playthings but now also people working hard to try to ensure some kind of quality.
PS : Does this mean that all BoB volunteers are now upgraded to staff ?

There's one other thing I'd like to add. I've been privileged to be a member of the CRC squad responsible for moderating the roleplay forums (Intergalactic Summit and Corporations and Alliances Summit), reporting to Eshtir (O Captain my Captain!) and learning from Timmeh.
This goes out to the RP crowd: It has been my great honor to be put in a position of managing the forums you pour so much energy and vitality into. You guys made me laugh, spew coffee (and beer), and once or twice even got me misty-eyed.
In a game that doesn't tend to respect RP as much as it should, you do amazing stuff that is always entertaining and engaging.
I salute every one of you who bring such a fun aspect of background and immersion to this game, and thank you for a great time.

I can honestly say I feel that a large portion of EVE OnlineÆs success has been a result of the efforts of this fine group of players.
TThe Forum Moderation and the Events teams will be placed on hiatus as we take time to evaluate processes and procedures for the betterment of the EVE CommunityÆs play experience. ...ummm...ok, that makes sense then
So, so long and thanks for all the fish then ?
Was yesterday debacle over the Sell order forums just a good day to bury other bad news?

I should certainly hope so. It'd be a pity for the EVE Community to lose this creative immersion into the EVE universe.

About one and a half years ago i applied to Aurora. After i got accepted and got thrown into the pit that was called Aurora i did not know what to expect. What i experienced in there was something i could not have imagined. The people involved in Aurora and for that matter ISD, were something so unique one could not know unless having experienced by themselves.
I take with me my memories about the fun we had in the channels. The immense fun i had when acting and even more when producing. I take with me the memories about the players who interacted in my events and the compliments given afterwards. ThatÆs what we did it for. To enhance your game experience.
Despite the fact that the closure of Aurora saddens me dearly I still like to show my gratitude towards CCP. After all, they did provide us with the sand we needed to build our little castles. I thank all ISD as they are really a great bunch of people and nothing but respect to everyone who was there to help make EVE better. I know it hasnÆt been easy sometimes.
A special thanks to Nebulai and Galen. My fellow captains and the devÆs I have had the pleasure to work with.
Respect!
