Just installed patch and went into game, but when I go to my Character Sheet, all I can get to show is my skills. When I do change a skill, it doesn't show the change either.

Originally by: CCP Lingorm Trinity 2 (as due to be released late this year) is DirectX 9!!! NOT 10!! This has been repeated a number of times. And this is also an effort to optimize and rework the graphics engine so it makes use of GPU's as currently with EVE your CPU does all the work. The new Graphics engine will improve performance by making better use of the graphics cards people have installed.
Our DirectX 10 Engine is not due till next year (soon tm).
We are also working to provide the wrapped client for the Linux and Mac users because they are an important part of the user base. As for the loading order issues we are continuing to look into it.
Um... a DirectX 10 Engine next year? Will this be optional, for those of us who do not wish to touch Vista with a 10-meter cattle prod? Or will Microsoft pull their heads out and release DX10 for XP?

Gah. I installed, and it went fine. I patched many times, and it went fine.
I patched THIS time and it went fine.
I left the game, and came back, and it blew up. I tried to verify files. Didn't fix it. Deleted bin / reinstalled bin. Didn't fix it (new error!).
Reinstalled Eve. Seems to have fixed it.
As a software developer, I can appreciate how hard this is to get right - but I also appreciate how important it is to get right.
Please, in the future, make it so that I don't have to spend *all* my eve time for an evening or two fixing my installation so I can play the game.

I've seen this a few times lately, unless you timeout you should just leave it to aquire bulk data until it finishes. Not that this can take a long time, someone said over 30 minutes someone said 20 minutes etc.

No, there will be two versions in the future, one DX9 and one DX10.

Hey all,
I read quite a few answers didnt see anything about this though Firs off great job!, many great fixes (looks at camera not reseting, nos ganking, etc...)
Just one question i see Drones automatically come in when you enter a forcefield What if the persone ussing the drones still wants the drones to attack a target outside of a forcefield or is that not possible?

I crashed 4 times last night under those exact circumstances. Twice while undocking and twice while coming out of warp after activating an ancient acceleration gate.
This was a crash like I've never seen before. The client just vanished. On my screen one moment, completely gone the next.
If it helps, it only was happening on my Vista machine. I run 3 PC's each with their own client. All 3 clients were running simulatanously on the differnt machines with the three characters traveling through the same space together. The client on the Vista machines experienced these crashes while the 2 other clients running on XP were fine.
Exact same situation for me as well - using Vista, repeated crashes while warping to a location.
I'll report that one of my corp members had this experience last night during a fleet operation. It took 3 logins/reboots to finally get in game and stay there. I believe he's running XP, but just wanted to fyi here.

Don't blame you one bit about not wanting Vista... I'm only running it because I HAVE to (work reasons)...
That being said, XP will never have DX10 due to the way it interacts with the hardware. It uses API calls and routines only available to Vista's driver model... Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Sahwoolo |

That's only because Microsoft choose not to make them available for the XP driver model. Yes it might involve some work but let's not be too kind to Microsoft here. DX10 will not be available on XP only because Microsoft choose not to make it available.
There is no technical reason why DX10 is Vista only. It's a marketing decision by Microsoft almost certainly because they realise that a lot of people can find nothing else of any interest in Vista except DX10.
If Vista were to flop (sadly not very likely) then Microsoft would eventually make DX10 available for XP. Maybe only as a dodgy front-end API but they have that option. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

I am having the same crashes as well. I am running VISTA and use two clients on one PC. Whats really strange is that only one of the clients crashes. It seems to only crash the one that is warping/undocking. Sometimes it happens only once, then other times it happens so often that its completely unplayable. Makes battles VERY hard when you are so unreliable.

ouch, i don't have nerve to read thru all those 12 pages of flood, but want to add mine 5 cents to this thread: because of this patch i have 2 corrupted clients. patched from previous version, both XP Pro SP2 - on my Acer it was enough to replace /bin folder - on my desctop it wasn't enough and after every reboot of my PC the client says it need patch, while patch says that the client is patched already. it loads ok only if i load from exe found in /bin itself or replace /bin each time after reboot
p.s. CCP you sneaky bug-makers, that wasn't a good idea to get drunk because of released patch before it was released don't do it again please ;P

can a dev please answer this? I submitted a bug report as per this thread: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=584307 briefly connection being lost all the time, can't maintain a connection since the patch.
After looking through your list for the bin folder, I realise my bin folder is missing the last three files on your list from the bin folder, after wrap_oal.dll
I installed from the downloaded client prior to this latest patch, so the client with the previous version number to this patch, could this be the source of my disconnects? I submitted a log/dxdiag in the bugreport, but briefly it had this error:
43119 2007.08.29 18:07:00:102 Unhandled exception in tasklet <bluepy.TaskletExt object at 0x020FBAD8>
That is the first error the log recorded.
then:
C:\Documents and Settings\ethan\Desktop\DISCONNECTION.lbw
43129 2007.08.29 18:07:00:106 EXCEPTION #3 logged at 8/29/2007 2:06:59 PM Unhandled exception in TaskletExt 43130 2007.08.29 18:07:00:106 Caught at: 43131 2007.08.29 18:07:00:106 //lib/bluepy.py(41) in __call__ 43132 2007.08.29 18:07:00:106 Thrown at: 43133 2007.08.29 18:07:00:106 //lib/bluepy.py(25) in __call__
plus more relating to that later on just prior to the disconnect. -- Greater Love hath no man than this; that a man lay down his life for his friends.

I was up all night working so my eyes are a bit crossed but I did not see mention of the warping/ CTD problem that others and myself are expereicning. I do have Vista and the prior client ran like butter on my system. Now I have to cross my fingers every time I undock or warp or basically do anything but sit in station. I'll fill out a bug report to be on the safe side. Has Scotty been drinking the fine ale again?!

I would like to know when ccp will be implementing sp trades for those of us who are crazy enough to train for things that get deleted from the game.
Case in point, the draftsman implants. There is no other reason that I would have ever wasted the 12 days to train cybernetics 5, not to mention the hours of now wasted courier runs to get the lp's for the implants.
Oh, I know that 12 days is just s drop in the bucket to those amarr pilots, who have been relegated to second class pilots until they can train up another race ship or missile skills and those who felt compelled when rev 1 came out to cross train to gallente capital ship in order to compete only to find out after wasting a month on gallente battleship 5 that oh yea ccp made a mistake by giving the drone race drone advantages to its mothership.
so for future reference can you tell me which is the test server? tq or sisi?
one other thing and you should ask your 'economist' about this. the death of a commodity market is when the clients lose faith in the system. you keep pulling the rug out from enough people there won't be anyone left.
good luck on your death by a thousand cuts. crazy things is you are doing it to yourselves

I have found a few interesting issues since the patch. First and most annoying is that ocasionally when aligning for warp or activating an accelerationg gate the ship declares warp drive active and goes into alignment mode but continues flying on the same heading instead of aligning. This can be worked around by stopping ship and trying again. (potentially bad in a fight though.) Second, when entering a warp, activating a cloak, or activating a missile launcher (only things ive notice it on) the audio clip plays twice for some reason. Lastly, I'm not for sure this is due to the patch but I'll throw it in here anyway; using the manticore with a prototype cloaking device I and covert ops skill at lvl2, I see a 75% reduction in velocity when cloak is active. This is not in line with the description of the ship since it has a 25% bonus to cloaked velocity per covops lvl. I ran the numbers a couple of way and can't see how it makes sense. The module on my ship reads -75% velocity which is reduced from 90%, but according to the bonus should be -40%. |

sound issues are documented in a thread in the known issues section, seems everyone is getting them almost. funny how something like that gets passed testers.
also anyone having connectivity issues, like without fail being disconnected between 5-30 minutes of gameplay no matter what you are doing (even if sitting idle) should post in the connection to server lost thread in known issues forums.. -- Greater Love hath no man than this; that a man lay down his life for his friends.
