My only addition to tonight would be Rk/Smash get a grip on Carnot. We appreciate his wanting to help us kill his fellow BSs but really, shot us instead. :)
He got in on two of our kills tonight. SpaceSlippy will be most unhappy.

Edit: Oh yea, tell poor 6thandchewy I feel sorry for him being on the top of the alpha list when its called.

Edited by: Kvaell on 08/09/2007 13:09:12 A battle report of last nights fight. First, I myself have only been in 0.0 three weeks now, thus I have only used first generation frigate-class vessels in the fleet ops. I lack the ISK'ies and experience has made me do that. Anyways it has been interesting and I have seen battle in both BKG and MJ and lost a few frigates+ clones in the process
Well the DMC part of the fleet was assembled around 20:00 EVE time and it was larger than I was used to. Most of my corpmates who were online was participating which was nice to see. Now to the size of our fleet as many from the other side of the pond have stated it was up to 400 and they only had 130 in gang. Fleet getting ready that's just because I like the pic, local 287 Picture it's taken just before the fleet jumped in local 287 EVE time 21:01 linky Here I have finally reached MJ, EVE time is 21:15. Unless we have assembled 120 man fleet in 15 minutes (note that we already were ready to jump in MJ 21:01 and not assigning 120 man to their respective roles would be folly), we were a bit under 300. Local did indeed reach 550 when most were in MJ but I believe that both sides had afk'ers in MJ that made 100+-20 (If an enemy could confirm local before jumping I would appreciate it) extra to increase lag. AFK'ing in the hottest area of EVE MAD fleet was still with "only" 287 (-a few afk'ers in POS) a lot larger than the enemy.
The fight? Well I was instapopped when grid loaded, thus I have petitioned my Vigil-Class frigate and haven't posted the kill yet. I self destructed my pod back to BQ0, got a Rifter-class frigate and returned. Over TS I heard several kills and all bubbles (4-5 large bubbles where around the gate) where destroyed when I came back. The enemy fleet was successfully routed by MAD forces when node came back on-line again. Looting" looking at the wreck count, now that the node was stabile, it seems like it was 5-10 kills for us and 20-30 kills for the enemy. It was expected since the tactical advantage lied with the enemy and they arenĘt the worst players in EVE either. To our luck a good prober found a Chimera-Class Carrier and scrambled him. I and two other tacklers quickly arrived and lots of DMC ship started the reduction of the shields, then stripping armour and last the structure of failed and A nice picture". It's my second time I see a Carrier-Class vessel go down (Other in BKG, even got the pod there ) and it's always impressive. After we where ordered to various gatecamps and got a few ships, but nothing happened. I know that 4:00-8:00 is primetime for the enemy and sometimes I wish I was American to meet you when you are most numerous. I returned to BQ0 with most of the DMC fleet around 2:00 EVE time, after a 6 hour Fleet OP I think I have done my duty (geez it was 4'o'clock in Denmark). See you all later in MJ

I haven't kept myself up to date with the POSes and since I wasn't assigned to the POS siege (there was one from FC talking in TS) last night I can't tell if we have returned the favour. Please tell my how many and when they where destroyed. I'm all ears.

I'm pretty sure they'd have to be down to at least 2 for it to be sov-neutral, unless they have had one destroyed and re-deployed. Because RK's third POS hasn't been up for the required 7 days to contest sov, and I'm not entirely sure the 2nd one has either.

afaik there's one seriously **** up moon with bugged structures. That should give neutral sov as such.
I read something about a GM refusing to fix it some time ago, but that's part of the game these things.

apparently that carrier had been placed 1m km off a gate or something when the node came up, which led to him being probed and killed.

you missed all the actual fighting. I forget what time our POS came out of reinforced, but we were outnumbered more than 2-1 and expected a large attack, but apparently the MAD FCs decided that it was more important to rep the cyno jammer and camp both gates. no enemies at all showed up at the POS during the repairs.
we were still outnumbered 2-1 when the POS repairs were finished, but people were complaining about the lack of action, so we attacked the gatecamps. we did a few hit and run attacks against their sniper BS with great results, then cleared both gatecamps and proceeded with the usual post-battle probing and chasing.
edit: and the cyno jammer that they spent all night repairing is down again

at downtime, we had 3 and they had 2, one of which was coming out of reinforced half an hour after DT. there isn't anything on the killboard that looks like a POS defense action, so I assume it was taken down with no resistance.

I didn't know those guns were bugged, I thought they were just being ignored in favor of repairing stuff and fighting at gates.
I saw a few of your guys repping them or something while we were repping our POS, then after the POS was done there was constant fighting until downtime so neither side really had a chance to do anything to the guns.
Originally by: Kvaell I'm enough newbie not to know how stations change hands. I will fly out and look for myself.
something with sovereignty until the station is attackable (not sure exactly how it works), then you shoot the station until it flips, then it's hours of fun with remote shield repairers.

I have to say though that it's sad that these wars cannot be fought without game-complications in almost every aspect of the gameplay. Broken moons, node-lag, and crash-issues because the overview was open.
Naturally since everything else about EVE is awesome we loyally still play, but it isn't without reservations.
Imagine fighting this war without these issues, it would've been even more fun.
But I do not believe that CCP will be able to fix these things. Horrible lag is a factor of the game structure, and that isn't changing any time soon.

I am not sure if the Mods are bugged or not.
RK petitioned at the beginning of the week because it took longer to kill one of the modules on a Dead pos than it did to kill the pos itself.
The GM Reply. Yes we know its stupid but they just have lots of hitpoints.

Known issue it seems, guns retaining resistances after the POS kill, gun armor attributes corrupting after multiple repairs, etc. Basically if in a process of cleaning a moon one thing goes wrong, it keeps going wrong, progressively.

Agreed in full. Thing is that waiting around for the magic "fixes" is, well, dull. Besides, the bulk of engagements these days has the same structural issues as 4 years ago. But there's no magic bullet for this, the way things are going as that a year from now there will have been dramatic fixes, but trends in game and subscriber numbers will have increased the blobs from 400 to say 800 people on each side. Catch22.
It seems declaring war on CCP customer support also isn't an option, while I am a fan of the idea to jsut slap it out once a while to vent some frustration and make staff get in touch a wee bit more :P it seems it's not allowed :/ Nor feasible.
But let's be honest, this game is so complex, if these issues weren't there .. there would be something else. The game is constantly evolving after all.
Either way, crap like this affects anyone, anywhere, any place, martini bianco. But we love the game too much to let it get in the way.

You guys should know that, we've done this before :\ Basically the mods have ALOT of HP and the small ones have sig radius's of frigs :\ which means bigger ships don't speed it up any.
And repping the cyno jammer ??? That's kind of pointless considering there can't be a cyno jammer on in that system for at least 4 weeks now.
Yeah, basically that carrier got caught out with the system being taken offline to be mapped to its own CPU.... Why they can't do these things 'before' the node crashes I dunno.

actually we had it confirmed that the mods were stuck at 99% resists but hey how its been really enjoyable fighting and props to both sides some great action. the only bad part was the smack during the whole campaign but never mind eh just isnt my "cuppa tea"

Before DT, the guns at 7-1 were stuck at the same resists on hull that they have when the tower was still there. After DT that bug seems to have been cleared (someone tested it on my request).
