yes I did that, and yes it was a few years ago. Otherwise no experience, I think a common tactic here is to get the other person completly wasted so you can say anything and they wont remember anyway.

Okay on a serious note.
1) Learn to be "funny-cocky"
Huge attraction to women, joke around, tease her but remember to not go overboard or you end up coming off as an ass
2) Dont be a nice guy
If she is an attractive girl she will get hit on most of the time, so stand out, dont be too nice otherwise you appear as "just another guy"
3) Confidence
You will want to look comfortable with yourself. Woman are very astute at gauging your confidence levels. If you appear to awkward with yourself its gona turn her off.
4) DONT be too eager
Show a small level of interest but when she reacts dont go mushy, almost fain interest to a point. You will appear much more attractive to her. If you cave in early you will come off as boring and back again to the "just another guy". In the end its a game, so have some fun with her, once you know she has a level of interest then make her play the chasing game.

So...
The only advice I can think of is stop trying to ask her out/love her/whatever. Just go there to MEET her, don't go there to ask her out. It's easier. Once you introduce yourself, everything's easier.

The only real way is to tell her that you think she is beautiful(key word), and ask her if she would like to go out sometime.
Just ask her while shes alone (not with her friends arround) or she might not give you an honest answer (girls with their friends act in strange ways).

I used to be very good at this when I was 17 and in school...
First priority, talk to her, dont be direct and tell her you wanna marry her or something to that effect..
Get her to talk about something that interests her... pets, horses, close, books, movies, other ppl you both know, school, work you do, stupid siblings, the weather, flowers, math exams, politics, Paris Hilton, George Bush, knitting, religion, computer nerds (they are all antisocial and geeky btw), University, lawyers (all useless ppl that should be strangled at birth), price on apartments, plans for the future, childhood, church, scouts, mowing lawns, monkeys in the zoo, endless universe, Latest developments in medicine, scars, shoe size, teachers in general, quality of school lunch, traveling each morning, getting up early/late, parants and grand parants, racial tension, spin doctors, actor's in general, men marrying MUCH younger women, Last Harry potter book/Movie, Michael More, earlier schools you attended, tattos, Anime cartoons, 100 foot high trees, military service, authism, venting frustration, 4-letter words and how awefull they are, romantic history, Shakespere, The agony of being in love and telling someone.....
So, basically be indirect and just talk to her.... eventually the list of topics will end up at the bottom of the list... when I was 17.... i had a 100% success rate with that approach :)
The real secret is listning, girls want to talk endlessly, it makes them feel good inside !

Say it calmly and speak it matter of factly. Ask her out to something that you like doing. This serves two purposes
1. Women initially like to find out what you like and do...that stuff is interesting to them even if they dont like the activity in of itself. Later, when you marry her, they will still despise the activity and get ****ed off when you spend time doing it...but that is a different thread
2. It gives you an arena that you are familiar with and a topic of conversation that you are knowledgable about and like talking about.
If she says no, then **** her, there are tons of other chicks that are going to give you butterflies, but not tonite, tonite is for getting ****ty with friends.

Well that's you and all, but some people are different. Personally, I have no problem at all talking to women, and get along brilliantly with them, but not in my life have I ever uttered the words, "I like you" to any of them. All I'm trying to say is that there are some things that certain people just have immense difficulty saying, personally, I don't have a problem asking a chick out, but getting feelings across isn't something I can do in language.

I'm in the same boat here. Personally I gave up a while back as it's not even worth my time anymore and it doesn't even bother me anymore. My rapsheet is like this however:
. I go to a bar with straight women and *** men and I get hit on by more *** men than I do women.

. I've been told my standards are too high. My last GF weighed more than me, lived in a trailer with her 2 kids, and worked at a gas station. If I need to lower my standards then I'm afraid of what my options are.
Personally I refuse to play the game. With me either both sides are straight up about it or don't bother with it at all.
My favorite excuses:
1) I just got out of a really bad relationship. Whens the last time you got out of a really good relationship?
2) I'm not looking for anything serious right now. or I've just got too many other things going on in my life right now. A week later I see them with some guy. 1 month later they're pregnant. 3 months later they're married.
3) I'm a *******. I giggled when she said that.
4) When I'm ready I'll give you a call. I would believe you if you had asked for my number.
5) But your such a good friend. Translation: I'll avoid you like the black plague from now on and if we do cross paths again I'll make it a weird and awkward scene.
Most of these start of of course when they say Your a nice guy and stuff. I usually cut em off at that point and tell em I've got the field manual of excuses.

That should solve your problem.
I was under the belief that notes died out in the '80's. And that people usually stopped doing that when they're like 12. Certainly wouldn't work in the bar although it'd be amusing.

oh i did talk to her.
it was quite awkward for me i approached her. she looked like she was expecting this to happen. so i said hello and she just smiled and said hi in a really flirty voice. i talked about stuff and 20 minutes later i asked her out. she said yes so we are going to something on friday.
which is good.
i will post what happen on Friday right after i get back or if i get lucky saturday morning.

Hey, way to go man! I'm guessing based on your previous posts that you don't have a whole lot of experience with girls. When going on a date, remember these extremely important things:
1. Be honest - girls are generally much better than guys at figuring out whether someone is being honest, so be yourself. She'll know if you're trying to do otherwise anyway
2. Don't be too aggressive - there's a difference between being confident and being arrogant or creepy
3. If you kiss her, don't shove your tongue down her throat...an extremely soft, subtle kiss can get a girl hotter than the wettest tonsil hockey, trust me
4. Listen to her, be sincerely interested in what she has to say (I imagine you already have this since you like the girl)
5. Don't expect to "get lucky" on the first couple of dates, and especially don't pressure her in any way - if she's the kind of girl to sleep with you after one date, you should reconsider your affections anyway
6. If the date goes well, call her within 48 hours of the date (generally). That was the hardest part about my first girlfriend, I hate talking on the phone and it took alot of psyching up to call her the first couple of times

You're right and I shouldn't generalize, but I've only had one experience with a girl like that and it turned out that the sex ended up being much more important than the actual relationship. It didn't end very well. 
Perhaps I'm just naturally cautious, but unfortunately behavior like that tends not to be an independant event, but an indicator of alot of other underlying issues.
Also, I live in low-sec so if you're inclined you can come out and harrass me.

i picked her up at her house then we went to the movies. Ratatouille. it was pretty impressive, definitely exceeded my expectation. but that is not important. what is, is the coziness afforded by the dark and slightly cold cinema. so we got a spot, right at the back so no one can see us. i was planning to get really close and my heart was racing with excitement.

Not true unless you're referring specifically to high school girls or sorority girls. I never had a girlfriend in High School and I appear to be in relatively high demand now, despite being just as ugly and nerdy. Give them time.

I got you beat. When I was a freight thrower for wally-world I noticed one of the gals that worked at night was getting super friendly with me so we started hanging out with the rest of the crew at the bar in the morning.
Then she mentioned how she had gotten a cd changer for her car and that she needed to get it in sometime. I offered to help since that's like a 10 minute job and I get it done and go home to sleep.
After that she avoided me like the black plague. Then to top that off she sleeps with half my friends on the freight crew. Then she start insulting me to look cool in front of them. But Karma is awesome at biting people in the ass.
She got addicted to meth and got meth teeth. Got pregnant, who the daddy is we'll never know. When she tried to leave town with a guy her transmission burned up due to the weight of the u-haul trailer. And while they waited on the side of the road a diesil drove by and a big chunk of ice broke off from the wheel well, hit the tire, and went through her rear window.
Since I was the only one with a vehicle capable of hauling that trailer the guy (formerly my freight lead) came to ask me if I could haul it to a house for them and I said sure as soon as she apologizes and sure enough a day later she did.
I never even got sex out of the deal but according to one of the guys who is still my friend he said it wasn't worth it.

If you just keep looking him and never do a damn thing about it. You are wasting your time. Since the woman is going to draw a conclusion that you dont have the consifidence to talk to her. Many women dont agree to out with you from your first try. Just stay at it. Until you can be sure she is not interested in you. Some women want proof that you are truely interested in her.

All girls that I know have certain preferences in how guys should look like. Things like excessive weight or short height are unappealing as well as unkempt appearance. Personality comes before looks, of course, but only in the longer run.
There was a study done that I read about long time ago. I don't know how good their methods were, but the conclusion that was drawn out of it was that both guys and girls form like 80% of their opinion about their date based on looks and body language on their first date rather than he/she says. On subsequent dates girls start orienting more by what the guy says and does whereas guys still orient a lot by the looks. So physical appearance can actually turn a girl off the first time that she dates a guy, but that's where you try to have a few dates, and if you got that cool personality try to show it to her and looks quickly become sencodary.
