Well actually in WW2 we had to join the battle full time after zero's lightly showered our west coast. Before that strange weather pattern however we,not really as a country, but more as independent people, helped out in small ways like joining the BAF and what not.
Not to mention everything the UK had to pay the US. They had to give up property in the in the US, gold, and share all their latest millitary secrets. The US made a small fortune from it.
Well the UK got something out of it too. Spreken zie deutsch?

If the Japanese didn't make the US a more active member of the allies during World War 2, the English would not have had enough manufacturing power to take on Germany alone. The cowardly American politicans in the US seemed to their that "Fortress North America" was safe from the ****'s reach. One of the few times the US actually ended up doing the right thing in the end. Sadly, it was also the last.
It amazes me how much you hate the USA...
Sucks to live right next door eh?
Last I checked, we were on top of the pile chief. From what I read of your sexual insecurities, that must drive you freaking nuts, eh?
Thanks for all the raw materials you guys ship over here (oil, wood, ect). Glad we have a nice supply so close. By the way, I think there are more cops in NYC than canada has military.

One more thing to add to the US plus side. We take daily showers. Last time I was in europe I never smelled so many dirty people. Italy was the worst by far. Le Pew

Originally by: Shell Guardian Edited by: Shell Guardian on 23/09/2007 21:37:52 I was born in England and now I live in America, so here's my two cents (pence):
For those saying that crime is higher in England, it may be. But I'm damn sure fatal crimes are much lower because of the gun laws. They may be mugged, but not killed. Big difference there.
I could go on forever about how much I like England compared to the US, but I'm heavily biased. I can't be a dual citizen of the US and the UK because the US won't let me, even though they made me wait 7 years to get a green card that was actually blue.
Ironic? Yes.
Gun Laws? Crime? Sorry to tell you but the 2 aren't really correlated. Take a look at Canada with pretty light gun laws, and yet the Crime rate is low. If gun laws force a criminal not able to buy a gun legally, he'll just end up buying one illegally. So one way or another the criminal is going to get a gun. Guns in the hands of citizens has not proved to boost criminal rates, since your standard citizen has no wish to commit a crime in the 1st place. Crime is a more linked to proverty than Gun laws.
As far as the original poster, I prefer the US style of lifestyle. Well the theoretical position of the US anyway. The US was founded on the principal of minimal government with minimal interference in your life. I don't want government to be responsible for me from cradle to grave. I want myself to be responsible for myself, and my neighbor to be responsible to his self. I don't want to pay his medical expenses, and he doesn't want to pay mine. If I practice a healthy lifestyle I shouldn't be penalized by others that did not practice disease prevention in their own lives. I don't want to pay smoker's cancer bills, illegal racers accident bills, etc. Those people made their choices in life, it's unfair to those that live a clean lifestyle to be responsible for other people in my opinion. I don't realy like any entitlement programs, like social security medicare, medicaid, etc. For lots of reasons but I would go not everyone of them :).
The US is just abit astray right now. We have increased spending, excessive borrowing, and excessive printing of money, eventually we need to get back on track. The good news is through the internet earlier generations are catching onto this fact and starting to see the faults in our current path. I hope to see vast cuts in the federal government at some point, and more state control.

You made it sound like the UK got nothing out of it, while the evil Americans took advantage of the English. I pointed out a symbiotic exchange rather than a parasitic one.
Anyway learn you history, the English never would have won that war, just like while **** Germany would have steam rolled western Europe, Russia would have eventually beaten them, and dropping the A-bomb saved more lives than it cost (both Japanese and American lives.)

US steel made sure Russia could produce tanks, without it Russia would have been forced to surrender. A-bomb? when did that topic enter the debate?
And as far as history, most of the royal British navy was guarding the English channel as they feared france would attack England. And american ships were allowed to repair their ships in French harbours.

This guy is right - you should listen to him. The thing about British teeth is.... well tea. The stereotype that we drink tea lots, it is an accurate one. I myself drink 4 to 5 cups a day, there's a chemical in it that effects the teeth making them more yellow, cant remember it's name. The nukes were a nessecity, no question. The Japanese rulers were preparing to arm evry man woman and child that could hold a gun and charge when the USA invaded the mainland. At the moment gas prices are soaring - guess how we heat our water for showers and how we save a few quid each day? About the rest of Europe I cannot speak for, nut keep in mind that Britian did have the worlds largest empire in history our previous generations have too much stock in that. Hell I mentioned to a distant family member I was part German and he started getting smug because Germany lost WW2 - I mean what the ****? To be honest many Brits are smart, we have huge investments in education and when we hear that creationism is taken as fact in some state schools, sorry we kinda lol at that no offence intended. Reading Bill Bryson's "Notes from a Small Island" would be reccomended, and most of Britian getting over the Empire and stop living in the past - who cares about "independant" Britian ffs, it's become part of a larger Europe like France and Germany or become inimportant. In conclusion we have our problems with each other but when it comes down to it we are willing to band together for each other. Oh, and bring on the European Commonwealth!!

Oui.
So, what would have happened had not all the american troops came over to help in WWI? If memory serves it was around the time Russia surrendered and all the eastern german troops were free'd up to hit the western front. I also remember reading paris nearly falling and the frnech having to commendeer taxi's to rush soldiers to the front.
I thought all the fresh american troops turned the tide.

Kinda ironic then that the French president at the end of WW2 thought that WW3 was coming between Europe and USA (was Canada still a domionion at this point?). If it hadn't have been for the cold war....

No, you started out characterizing American involvement in the early stages of WWII as profiteering. I only responded after your comment. You have made it sound as if the United States was not involved in WW I aswell, when 4 million American citizens were drafted, our mercantile vessels re-outfitted, and we sent 10,000 troops a day, to help win the war.Not to mention it was due in large part to European idiocy that WWII even happened. The US was not comfortable watching Europe burn, most of the population wanted to get involved but thanks for painting my culture that way.
Where the hell are you getting the figures for American steel going to Russia for tanks? I know that the handbook "The economy of USSR in 1941-45" doesn't agree with you.
France helped out America to screw over Britian because of a prior defeat in Canada. Of course we could talk about Spain, Austria's and Holland's roles in the war aswell. IT was basically a case of Britain screwing themselves over by being *****s to the whole world.
EDIT: Fixed some grammar.

Not really. Ww1 was just a stallmate where all sides sendt troops to die in a massive meat grinder. Neither side were able to hit eachothers factories etc etc. Basically millions died on a relative small area.
Just take a look at the casualties list and you get a very good indicator of how it was. Preussia didnt surrender due to any decisive victory like in other wars.

Yes I did. America was happy with staying out of Europe as they did business with the ****s. Yes the US helped during WW1 but WW1 would have ended anyways as neither sides could really afford such casualties.

America was having an isolationistic policy at that time, they refered to the war as 'Europes war' and had no intention of joining.

lol: relief aid in troops. LAAAWL. MegaLAAWL. sending in troops to help a situation the Us started by handing Iraq to mister ba'aath in the first place. after they let bagdad out to dry in the first gulf war. The US generally creates its own problems to 'relieve' these days. I agree that empire building is repressive, but there is only one country doing it in the 20th and 21st century: the US. Europe had its imperialistic phase: we ended that with the modern age. US is just getting started. you actually BUY that iraqi freedom horse****?

That is kind of true, but there allways has to be the biggest bastard right? Give it a few years and the title will go to another country, US is on the decline in global importance. The term superpower may even go into misuse as the term Great power is redefined to include India China USA and EU.

Pakistan is not helping much...
It's a sorry state of affairs when the Pakistan army doesn't have free reign over it's own territory. (What is it with these ME countries where religion comes before all else, where clerics mean more than government & the military?)
We could most certainly take a bunch of troops into Pakistan and eventually find him like we did *******. However, we would lose whatever little help we are getting from the Pakistan military in the future...
And even if we did find him and kill him, he would just be replaced, probably by someone younger, and even better at terrorism than he...
And quite frankly, finding him is really not the top priority. It's not like once we find him, terrorism ends...

Methodically invading any ME country whose government supports terrorism with money & cannon fodder. Replacing that government with some form of system other than a tyrannical dictatorship in the hopes all ME people someday can rise out from under the thumb of these extreme clerics and their misguided teachings of Islam.
We have Syria and Iran to take care of, and Pakistan eventually once the pro US government is disposed of, which will probably happen soon...
