The name says it, if you could pick anything from many sifi book/film and bring it to eve, what 3 things would you bring?
I would bring: Niling D-sinks from the commenwealth books by hamilton (infinate enegry storage, so wait long enough, have loads of cap, then run triple rep + MWD, with no need for an injector.
Quantum-busters Also from Commonwealth sage, who could say no to a weapon which converts thr matter of your enemyinto pure enegry.
Have to think a bit more about the third one...
Come on, post what you would want to have on your ship!
PS: to devs, this is not any sort of demand, this is just a fun thread, where we can imagine things, njot feature rquests.

Honorverse
- Superdreadnoughts that can fire thousand missiles per salvo at range of almost 30 million kilometers (0.2 AU) Also, missile fight in Honorverse is quite interesting, with EW platforms, Ghost Riders, Keyhole platforms, penetration aids...

A Holly Hop Drive!
For those who don't know the Holly Hop Drive is "just a box with stop and start on it." "If you want to start it, press 'Start'. You can work out the rest of the controls for yourself."

Tricobalt device - star trek
"Tricobalt devices are not a standard armament of Federation vessels and yields are calculated in Tera-Cochranes. The tricobalt warhead is a subspace weapon whose high-yield detonations can tear holes in subspace."
Think one shot targeted weapon that kills just about anything and warp disrupts several KM's of space
"Dreadnought" - also star trek
"Dreadnought was a Cardassian self-guided missile, containing one thousand kilograms of matter, and another thousand of antimatter. Tuvok describes this as enough to destroy a small moon. Although described as a self-guided missile, in practice Dreadnought functioned much like an autonomous starship. It possessed shields, phasers, a complement of quantum torpedoes, a Thoron shock emitter, a plasma wave weapon, engines capable of reaching at least Warp 9, and a sophisticated computer AI"
Giant uber drones ftw! can't see the "sophisticated computer AI" happening in Eve though
Minmatar Deathstar, nuff said
- Flak batterys from Battlestar Galactica
- Nukes, just cos everyone loves nuceuler weapons in sci-fi
- Anything big enouth to distroy stars and turn there entire soloar systems into a huge nebula, cos nebulas look funkey and blowing up stars is allways fun. Should probaley cost about 200 billion isk and be single use, otherwise we'd run out of stars.
- one not from any one sci-fi in particuler, it seems fairley common, but some form of missile launcher that fires "a **** load" of missiles all at once, with randomised targeting (would need a lonnng reload time, and people would hate the lag)
- not a weapon, but Ablative armor basicley armor that in eve would take damage to the module itself, and not the ships armor untill the module has been distroyed

Wave cannon and force control device from the R-type games. The Giga wave cannon could probably blow up just about anything including the ship that uses it.

Stop playing, then. Geez.
Anyway, now that the troll's out of the way...
1: "Shellperson" technology from Anne McCaffrey's books. Really, it's just a variation on capsule technology anyway, and would give those born with congenital physical defects but perfectly functioning minds in EVE the opportunity to really do some good (or bad).
2: "swarm" missiles from.... pretty much everywhere tbh. But they'd lag up the server to no end.
3: Eldar Holofields from Warhammer 40,000 - completely nerf your own ability to tank, but gain a fixed probability that any shot against you will be a clean miss. - The game is not the problem. The problem is that you are not adapting to the game.

hmmm how about a cloak that not only makes you invisible but also allows you to pass through matter. (star trek) and then the ability to mount it on some insanely big rocket.
Also i would like to be able to download my mind into a shrike like robot (endymion). Bending space time and beeing able to pull battleships apart after you just jumped up to one while beeing on a planet really does it for me.
If all else fails i'll settle for anything that lets me make controllable black holes.

Ooh I like this thread
How 'bout Gundam Wing style, epic beam laser of doom!
I have always liked I.M. Banks' Culture novels I really would like to see their GSVs (General Systems Vehicle) in eve too... huge and completely self sufficient with manufacturing capabilities and the on-board ordinance capable of levelling a planet, plus more besides.
Just don't tell BoB... Doh!
And don't hurt me... Cowboy Bebop... the ability to hack your opponents ship into doing something unfortunate. Gads that would be fun!
I'll think of more in due time im sure

When I engage these coils normally I do about 2x10^6 dps. But I try to avoid that because people, entire populations, like die. So I try to keep it to about 4x10^3 dps. |

Time Distortion Device. An item that can only be fitted on a new class of T2 battlecruisers (gotta make a T2 version of the tier 2 BC models eventually right?) that, depending on the charge installed, will either speed up or slow down every time-related aspect of ships within the device's sphere of influence, friend or foe. By time-related aspect I mean ship speed, firing/launching speed, warp line-up, tracking speed, EW and booster/repper cycle speed etc. Increasing speed would especially help long-range snipers fire off more rounds at opponents at distance, while a decreased speed sphere could snare close-range ships like interceptors and such, allowing friendlies moving at "normal" speed outside of the sphere to have a considerable advantage against the enemy.
Storyline-wise I see such a device as being a highly refined off-shoot of the standard warp drive, which effectively bends space and time already.

I'd wish for the following items:
- Scanners like from Star Trek. They can detect cloaked ships if given enough time (and effort), they can find the distance between my ship and the scanned ship without having to launch probes and they can scan the interior of a ship / station without fitting a Ship Scanner.
- Quantum Slip Stream or Trans Warp Drive would also be nice (so you can warp directly from one solar system to another bypassing the gates - a bit like a jump drive for non-Caps)
- Matter-Energy-Transporters (also from Star Trek) would round off the trio nicely. No more stupid shuttles from Station to Planet or old fashioned tractor beams to collect loot.. simply beam the crap directly to the cargo hold. Would also be a sweet feature to free those poor Exotic Dancers from evil Amarrian ships. |
