Hey all! Hiya from Neslo!!!
Alright a little back story of the LIH adventures (as far as I can bring it). I'll be updating the Geminate wiki (awsome idea btw). What happened to the Four Horsemen in the BB? Well first and for most... burn out. We were focused on being the "pvp style" teaching in a learning alliance, while providing some basic security in the alliance... think player created concord. We had the SP and the will for about 7 months. Sadly as most pvpers will attest... PVPers on a leash is paramount to trying to heard cats in a field of trees. It's just impossible.
We came in with a corp chat strong during the US timezone of about 40 strong. We would have a Euroforce of about 20. It was a pretty healthy corp. We came into akora / bwf and helped evict FoE out of the area in november. It was a PVPing dream. Help setup an empire. We did it. We even took on the monumentous task of helping emergency deploy the Blue Pill on information that the MC force would not make it in time. (No fault of their own... and btw the threat never materialized)... With the Pill deployed we were finally "home based" out of the pill. The pill was deployed around Newyears of 2006. It was again a great acheivement in the LIH history.
BEGIN THE LONG ROAD
Yep... the long road to maintain the alliance security... and then we tried to do too much and too little. We identified an excellent way to fund a PVP force of our size (to defend) while still opening up the Pill to the public ( a shared vision with naga) we (LIH) would run primary contracts for materials of tech 2 moon mining for the alliance... thus financing our losses / fleet building.
So we had financing, and we knew that being in geminate that someone would want to greif (but never imagined they would want to live here... cuz we specifically picked IPS because the forums called it the HELL HOLE OF EVE)... we simply wanted to make a rose in the desert.
From the time that the pill was constructed (not a single weekend) we were war decc'ed and the alliance was constantly under seige by the wanna-be-pirate group of the week. LIH didn't mind it too much as it provided with entertainment... and the groups were of the same calibar and skill for the most part as our alliance (some n00bs mixed with experienced)...
Then came burn eden. Talk trash if you must, but they were the best danged PVPers in the game using the most of game mechanics. It taught LIH's most experienced PVPers some valuable tips of how to fight experienced PVP tactics. We killed them some, they mostly killed us and our residents. After 3 weeks of Burn Eden... and yes it gets old... LIH implemented the now infamous "Lockdown" procedures. We took on Royal Navy in our fight (as we had already hemeraged 25% of our PVP force to the "i don't want to protect neutrals for 14.95 a month syndrome" even though we wanted to portray the RP stance of Lawful Good), they didn't want to merge, so we helped convince folks to get them into the alliance. It was a good choice, cuz they were great allies (even up to LIH departure).
In a purely LIH funded event, on April 1, we deployed 8mg MASADA station. It was the most intense experience ever, as the infamous BOB easter egg killing roaming fleets almost blew up 2 months of saving of industrialists and a siginficant aount of ISK from Talon and myself. When it deployed, it was the pinnacle of the LIH experience.
THE DOWN HILL SPIRAL
With 8mg, we restricted it to all BB. We wanted to develop a cap yard for NAGA production in BWF and a cap yard for BB in 8mg. However, we had one director running the Industrial side of LIH. With the deployment of the Station, he became a hot item for recruitment with his management skills and awsome logistic thinking mind.... BOB got him (hi Hectic! o/)

However, revealing the client could still have political implications.... so it probably isnt gonna happen.

... cont ...
With the LIH Industrial directorate in free-fall ( I wasn't happy, and I made my feeling known about it... needless to say this bites me in the arse later), we started doing a hasty bit of promotinos. Jirad TiSalver (our military ops director) started having to double dip duties... it was too much. EveTalon our CEO had RL issues starting as soon as we joined BB... so he was never seen much and much of the corporation relations and executive decisions was made by myself, with Hectic and Jirad.
With 2 of the 4 (Horsemen either out of game or left the corp) this became a real struggle to juggle the logistics of the industrial juggernaught of the corporation (we were running 50 large towers in two systems.... no sov no jump gates no cyno jammers... we were doing it with mark 5s... even with burn eden and the pirate flavors.
As you can start to see the nightmare to develop I'll spare you the rest of the drama from internal. Needless to say by the time MC arrived, LIH was a skeleton of the PVP corp we were when we arrived to the area in November. We were actively running ops with the majority of the PVP pilots being Eve-Uni. While I love those guys, they aren't 60 M SP chars.... well they are closer no *wink* but they weren't then.
So when MC took Masada, with little resistance, LIH at about 25% corporation membership left. I decided to try and make a run to recover the corporation. I turned the Masada station over to MM and Eve-Uni hoping that with the departure of LIH, that we might draw enemies away from BWF for awhile, while we rebuilt the corporation to previous levels (and maybe make a return to defend once we could).
We moved to Syndicate. Where a player, XORS, decided he didn't like how I expressed my opinion of the departure of the director. (I didn't yell, I simply said it was lame to leave... but on reflection... it wasn't just tha it was the entire drama of alliance / corp diteroration / under constant attack for 7 months that caused the feelings of animosity and had it happened under different circumstances... I'd not have reacted that way. But because of that, Xors decided he would rob the corp of it's isk, almodules and anything not locked down.
I resigned leadership, feeling kinda crappy about Eve, and the corp has simply gone inactive over the yaer I've been out of the corp. I took about a year off from the game to re-charge energy. 3 straight years... lol just too much with the drama. But I'm back now, re-finding the game. Making connections with abunch of old LIHers and gamers from LIH's past.
Will LIH come back? Maybe, I have now regained leadership, but put it to sleep for now. Would I bring LIH back to a BB alliance? Not without several LIH style corps, and a less restrictive PVP policy. Perhaps Guarding alliance to a BB alliance tha could be contracted to come back at any point.
As an aside: I loved and still love the idea of TBB. I would do it again in an instant, wouldn't change anything, except game mechanics to make it more feasible.
Love goes out to the boys from TBB and the old residents! See ya in space, hit me up in game at any time!

Yeah I'd love to know. Just for posterity more than anything else. Given that MC stated that their goal was to destroy the Ship yard tho.... I'd imagine that it probably was a member of the BoB directorate that funded the project. Just my tinfoil hat theory tho.

Actually speaking of LIH and Jirad Tisalver...Sabre A made me aware the other day that, that character is now in FRICK/MC (to which I responded on TS "WTF?? RLY?? O_o7), but it has "Under new management" in it's bio, so I guess good ol' Jirad either bought a new character, or finally quit EVE.
I hope the latter isn't the case, cause despite being an obnoxious loudmouth, he was a good guy and good at what he did!
Much respect LIH <3.

They were a decent bunch and didn't deserve to be killed by that ***** Seleene and his puppetmasters.
BB was dead because basically they were "too peaceful" like ISS and the CFS(i dont remember correctly),that kind of alliances are doomed from the beginning 0.0 is for fighting, its is like the old japan full of daimyos and samurais and peaseants ,BB werent aggressive enough so they got wiped out ,i call that evolution.

Don't confuse haphazard collections of carebears with nominally peaceful alliances with purpose. Weak morale, or no guiding purpose, kills alliance more than a lack of aggressiveness. ISS is at ~600 members now and has been around since the dawn of time. Probably will still be chugging along one year from now.
As for "who hired MC", this was shortly after TRUST lost their capital yards to BoB, and only BLUE's cap yards were blown. So it is generally assumed among ex-BLUE someone in BoB (if not Sir Molle himself) paid the fee. (BoB didn't do it themselves for political reasons, it is assumed).

Well there is that...
also, somebody mentioned that 6 months was a good innings for an alliance of TBB's size. I must disagree.. its actually a pretty poor showing. However, the reasons for TBB's short stay in 0.0 have more dimensionality than simple lack of agressiveness.
I would venture to say that TBB were too ambitious and by attempting to enter the early capital ship market they became a potential threat to other capital ship producing alliances. Lets face it, TBB were essentially looking to source capital ships to the highest bidder, when the industry was in its infancy. In hindsight trying to do that without very strong military backing was suicide.

Ill add to this reunion lol haha. TBB those were the days, I miss them alot especailly sitting on the OIJ gate waiting for the red minus to appear haha. Hugo I checked last week when I was in BWF the cemetary is STILL there hahaha. As for Jirad, Im going to miss that leather pants wearing ares lol. He taught the current high FC's of the E-Uni. TBB fell b/c when LIH were going through these problems it was MC vs E-UNI, we tried are best to hold MC but MC was too good for the Uni. IPS was ripped apart by them. Then came ER, you suck for kicking the TBB while it was down but you gotta do what you gotta do. now as for SAS you are worse then ER, You were Allies with TBB until the power house MC came into the picture and you gladly bent over for them and killed us. I still remember the op where you were in a TBB gang and turned around and started to engage Big Blue Forces on the gate. Very Bad Form but more then a year has past so meh.

Nostalgia rocks :)
I joined EVE University in my first week, and their recruiting material didn't really mention - no doubt it was obvious to non-noobs - that by joining E-UNI I was also joining an alliance called The Big Blue. What an awesome opportunity that was; the chance to learn about life in 0.0 and experience fleet combat, first hand, in my first weeks playing the game. For all the problems that came with it, BLUE membership added a whole dimension to the Eve Uni learning experience that I think is sorely missed.
If anybody ever held a Big Blue reunion, I'd so be there.

Eve University is still doing their thing, training the mad phat masses. Some of them (along with some of the Four Horsemen) split off after The Blue Pill fell and formed a new corp called The Graduates. They were in ISS for a while, and they're in BRUCE now.
The Four Horsemen headed out to BoB space and I haven't heard from them since.

Respect to the Big Blue. I was psyched about the effort back when it happened, always been a fan of NAGA and a regular customer prior to ccp nerfing escrow. Obviously RK owes BB a thank you for building the stations in bwf and 8mg.
Originally by: SATAN <snip> Should not be a problem to persuade the current residents of their space to leave, or allow BB to take control of it back.<snip>
Well, this would probably have been true when we first took the stations. When we first came to Geminate iirc we had it in mind to have generally positive relations with TBB. And for a long time we really weren't sure we wanted the headache of those two systems. By now though, with our consolidation of Geminate, expansion, and time and effort put into the area I don't really know how that would work. Guess ya never know tho.
Respect, and thanks for the history guys, makes me feel good to know a little more about the background than I did.
Koronos
P.S. As INFOD, COW, and MDK and so on can attest, we lose A LOT of ships in bwf. My guess is that would be the case for any owners.
