Originally by: Venkul Mul A useful reply to a bug report about using 2 installations of EVE on the same computer:
Bug related to bot Tranquility 37459 build and Singularity 40973 I have noticed more than once that when I select a route on Singularity, close EVE and then open Tranquility I find that the destination I had selected on Singularity has substituted the one I had on TRanquility. The same happen in the reverse direction (i.e. the Tranquility destination is overwritten on the Singularity destination). The 2 installations of EVE are on different drivers, but I haven¦¦t used the lua:off option as I am not using vista. I am using windows XP.
Quote:
This is because your two installations (TQ and Sisi installations) are using the same settings file in My Documents. You need to use the LUA:OFF option (at least on your sisi installation) even if you are not using vista (if you were using vista, the you would need to run eve as administrator or turn off UAC to be able to use the LUA:OFF option, under XP it just works fine straight off). While the LUA:OFF option was added as part of vista compatibility, it also applies when running eve under other versions of windows. Having your two eve directories on different drive partitions does not make a difference, as without the LUA:OFF option selected, both will search for the My Documents folder as defined by the windows global user variable, regardless of which partition it is on. /Tallman
Probably for more expert computer user than me it was evident, but I think someone can find it useful the same.
And TY to Tallman for an enlightening reply.
Ah, nice. Buried in page 8. I'm now enjoying being unable to connect to Tranquility, because it seems that logging onto SiSi uses the same settings/cache folder.
Bravo CCP, thanks for the advance warning on that in the first post. |

I've been unable to connect also. I wish they had something like a server status page to see if the servers are actually running or down for update

OK, I got it, but it was rather stupid. They've apparently released a new patch; but when i tried to apply it, it said my current version was newer than the patch version. Turns out I had to re-copy my original eve client back over to my test folders, then apply the patch.

Originally by: Trytonx I just wasted 2 hours of my day off, going through the last 8 pages and trying every option listed to connect to sisi with no success whatsoever.
I get the new splash screen, and after a few seconds it disappears and that's it, nothing else.. When I pull up the task manager I have an exe.file running with a constant mem usage but there is certainly no eve program running on screen.
When I played Dark Age of Camelot, getting on the test server was as simple as logging in, selecting the test server from the server list and connecting.
Why does ccp make it so difficult to get on test? I dont mean to sound like Cpt. Whineocerous here but this is just absolutely frusterating.
anyone have any tips?
Same problem here.
Does anyone have any ideas at all?

Have followed all steps twice now, same result. Start test server and get message of incompatible build. Current build is 4.10.43312. Go to patch site but no patch for this build have tried all and no good. Any ideas to resolve this?

Anyone else still having trouble connecting? I could connect when I was at home earlier, but I've been getting the "status: unknown" error since I got back to school, despite having the correct version (at least according to the patches page.)
It's strange, I can always connect to Tranquility here fine, but SiSi tends to be a crapshoot. |

Here's how I connected to SISI, and it's been working fine:
1. Create a seperate partition on your hard drive, or if you have two hard drives, use a separate one to your Tranq client. I called mine the D:\ drive. I'm not sure how crucial this is but it's stopped all the other ****-ups from happening.
2. Copy your tranq /CCP/Eve directory in it's entirety to the new partition.
3. Download the tranq-sisi patch from here. Run it and point it to the new /CCP/Eve directory in the separate partition.
4.a. Create a new shortcut on your desktop. I use Vista, so I point it to run: "D:\Program Files\CCP\Eve\Eve.exe" /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50
4.b. For windows XP, I guess it'll be: "D:\Program Files\CCP\Eve\Eve.exe" /end /server:87.237.38.50
5. Vista only: right click your new shortcut, go to properties, and select 'run as administrator'
6. Double click your new shortcut and you should be sweet.

Still getting Status: Unknown.
If I Pingplot SiSi's IP, it gives me "Destination Address Unreachable" after 2 hops, but I can reach all of the other EVE-related IPs without problems.
Anyone have any idea what might be wrong? |

I just made a fresh copy of EVE folder and patched test client. I have the shortcut appropriately configured with the IP address switch or whatever (target is "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE - SiSi Test Server\eve.exe" /end /server:87.237.38.50") and the test server loaded fine.
So I had it d/l the new content, and it again loaded fine. Then I set the graphics options to HDR on, Bloom medium, Extreme shadows, and High quality. 1650x1080, on a GeForce 8800GTS (320MB.)
Now when I try to load test, it just won't launch -- the splash screen displays, leaves the screen and EVE is minimized. Won't load, can't switch to it, etc. But it doesn't report not responding.
Going to try setting options lower via .ini file or something but figured I'd post here in case others are having the same problem. ----- You're not what you are, you're just what you do! So it ends with their butts and it starts with your shoe! - Awesome Car Fun Maker |

Awesome, thanks. It appears to be working now, I'm downloading the new version as we speak.

Been looking for solving such problem everywhere, but couldn't find...
It is about Trinity new graphic engine on test server. A friend of mine had a button for downloading a patch on the loging in screen, but all I have while selecting singiularity is an error window:
Quote: There was an unexpected error while retrieving patch status:
A patch file for your build number is not available. You will have to patch manually.
Do you want to go to support page?
When I click YES, patching site is telling me that there is no patch for my current version (which is 41736, tranqulity runs great on it). And I cannot download it manually, becouse there is no patch upgrade for it.
What do I have to do? Me and some my corpmates has same problem.

Originally by: Blue Binary Some people were wanting a step-by-step guide...
The dummies guide to setting up the test client
- First create a new folder under C: called SiSi.
- Copy your Eve directory from C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE to C:\SiSi [screenshot]
- Download the Singularity patch from here. Run the patch and make sure you select the C:\SiSi\EVE directory! Don't launch the Eve client yet.
- Delete the 2 directories named win2k & winxp from C:\SiSi\EVE\bin [screenshot]
- From the C:\SiSi\EVE directory, right-click eve.exe and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut) [screenshot]
- From the Desktop right-click the eve.exe shortcut you just created (you might want to rename the shortcut) and select properties:
In the target box add /end /server:87.237.38.50 to the end of C:\SiSi\EVE [screenshot] (Note: if you want to keep the /LUA switch then use /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50)
- Now you can start the client. Make sure you select Singularity from the server list!
Hopefully this will get you going.
Now if only hunter had written this in the first place we wouldn't all be so confused nice one blue binary. This should be stickied or put in place of hunters OP .
