Edited by: Karlemgne on 05/10/2007 22:55:42 Edited by: Karlemgne on 05/10/2007 22:54:40 Okay, I need a better walk through than this. Copying my eve folder into a sisi folder, then launching EVE results in an incompatible build warning.
I go, download the "build" manually, and it wants me to manually find my Sisi folder. Fine, I do this and launch eve directly from the sisi folder. The result? Connecting to local host, server status unknown.
So I come here, see this thread, so I'm thinking "great all I have to do is copy the target line and put it in my sisi shortcut!"
Unfortunately, attempting to do this results in an "invalid target" error. So I try to start over, and go to erase my sisi folder. What's the result? "You cannot delete this folder." So I restart, twice, and am still unable to erase the folder.
Just as I am about to go looking for the particular file that is holding up my delete, it finally allows me to delete it, but not before telling me that two files I am trying to erase don't exist.
At this point, windows dies and I get a BSOD. Yippie. Now I'm back, everything looks straightened out, so someone spell out for me EXACTLY what I have to do from the moment my eve folder is copied.
Thanks.

OK, I just spend 20 minutes trying to understand this from the posts above. I copied my main EVE folder to my D: drive, I ran the patch, I deleted the offending folders, I added the extention to my shortcut.
Now, I get a brief EVE splash screen (3-5 seconds) and then 'poof', nothing.
Yes, the server may be down but I have no way of knowing this. ---------------------------------------------------

the localisation is corrupt:
join your normal eve client - change language to english - restart client - close client
copy the english client to another place - patch with singularity patch - delete the win2k/winxk folders in the bin folder and enjoy eve on singularity.

Edited by: DaveW on 06/10/2007 18:54:36 Felcoree, are you saying the extention to the Shortcut with the server ID is not necessary?

Felcoree,
I was finally able to get on. The trick is that you need a NEW shortcut.
Do everything like before. Copy the client, do the update, delete the folders and then make a NEW shortcut. Then add the extention for the server (remember to add that space after the .exe) and you should be in business.
That was SO much fun....

Some people were wanting a step-by-step guide...
The dummies guide to setting up the test client
- First create a new folder under C: called SiSi.
- Copy your Eve directory from C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE to C:\SiSi [screenshot]
- Download the Singularity patch from here. Run the patch and make sure you select the C:\SiSi\EVE directory! Don't launch the Eve client yet.
- Delete the 2 directories named win2k & winxp from C:\SiSi\EVE\bin [screenshot]
- From the C:\SiSi\EVE directory, right-click eve.exe and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut) [screenshot]
- From the Desktop right-click the eve.exe shortcut you just created (you might want to rename the shortcut) and select properties:
In the target box add /end /server:87.237.38.50 to the end of C:\SiSi\EVE [screenshot] (Note: if you want to keep the /LUA switch then use /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50)
- Now you can start the client. Make sure you select Singularity from the server list!
Hopefully this will get you going. ____________ Blue Binary |

Ditto, getting the same. With no scrollbar, there's no way to scroll to the bottom even with the mousewheel. So yay, we're stuck on the EULA agree screen without an EULA to agree to.
Fix pls? --- WTS: Forum Signatures, price negotiable. Evemail me!

I am having a problem with the display of the start up window. It's all black. I hear sound but see a big black box instead of the usual. This is my first time trying to play on singularity.

Edited by: Cryshannon on 08/10/2007 02:49:08 Well not sure if its a vista thing or not. I've done the shortcut thing .. I see 125 on .. but when I connect says my account is suspended ... not this again.. Now last week I got my sisi account reactivated Now not even a week later its not active.... Last week I had to use my old old old password .. now it doesn't work but the new one I changed not too long ago puts me into the suspended state. So did we just have a mirror or wth is happening? Can this be related to vista or this something new??

If you are using the german client of EVE, switch to the English version first. i edited it in the "Prefs.ini" simply search for the line "LanguageID=" and write "EN" instead of another id. Worked fine for me.

I have to ask - why nerf the server selection dropdown? Having to edit shortcut targets just to play on a different server seem a hell of a lot of hassle when we used to just use a dropdown ... |
