My anger in 1991, when the review of "Thelma & Louise" in People magazine absolutely detailed the ending, was indeed something to behold. |

Great quotage from an article about how most people absolutely miss the point of "The Great Gatsby":
"A few years ago, Prince Harry attended a Gatsby-themed 21st birthday party that cost $25,000 to throw.
The following year, Paul McCartney threw his own expensive Gatsby birthday gala (although they're Brits, so in their case we could at least understand why they'd want to dance on the corpse of the American dream).
Meanwhile, if you dare venture into Pinterest, you'll find page after page of users collecting material for Gatsby-themed weddings. As Zachary Seward of The Atlantic puts it, "It's like throwing a Lolita-themed children's birthday party.""

Apparently there is a slew of folks who are immitating the true life story of the film "127 Hours" about the guy who went hiking without telling anyone and got boulder trapped and had to cut his arm off.
Yes. People are doing this as re-enactment.
Is this not like seeing Pulp Fiction and thinking, "Hey, let's visit the basement of a pawnshop." ?

I actually saw "127 Hours"...sorta.
They did such a great, terrifying job depicting the predicament, it was so intense I had to stop watching it ! Which I have never done before or since to a film for this particular reason.
edit: To me it seemed as if the point of the film was that this is pretty much a bad idea. How it can possibly encourage imitation, I really have no idea, and just further wonder at humanity tbh. |

I did find out about 2 of the startling Season 3 deaths watching a video montage called "In Memoriam". Didn't realize it recapped even the "just broadcast" deaths, but oh well. |

Its a good show, but I think its artificialy seen as better given the sea of poop it floats in that is the US Mainstream Media (that is the first time I ever said that phrase by the way). Newspapers are better than CNN/Fox News, and the Young Turks is pretty good on some issues too.
