I started writing a big long rage post to answer this, but I'm going to restrain myself.
We're starting renting because apparently taking an entire region for the purpose of making money (didn't really like that either) isn't good enough, we "need" more.
I'm unhappy because of a lot of reasons, but if I try and explain right now, it's going to turn into some dumb rant. Maybe I'll try later when I can better gather my thoughts, but for some perspective, I'm seriously considering jumping ship.
Anyway, from the knee-jerk reaction, other's aren't happy about it either. I'll be keeping an ear to the ground on this one. |

Success implosion imminent?
Essentially the space they rent out doesn't matter, and it serves as a passive income.
And on the bonus side, they get to hunt whatever their renters whine about to "protect" their income.
I'm not sure I'd wager the risk myself to rent from Goons.

I didn't **** anyone off, our finance team pissed off half of the alliance. What caused this is the announcement that we're going to be renting out space. This might not seem like a big deal, but perhaps the only strand of e-Bushido goons have is that culturally, we despise renting. We've derided our enemies for doing it, it's literally something most of us hate to the core. The reason we invaded Fountain was so that we wouldn't have to do this. And then we get the broadcast today "Hey guys, we're going to be setting up renter alliances! :
So I (and others) are vowing to do everything possible to sabotage this idea. Running renter scams (which we're now absolutely forbidden to do) and anything else we can do to kill the program before it gets off the ground. If it does get off the ground, you can expect us to not only awox the crap out of our own corp via the renter corps, but also openly run fleets through the renter areas and burn everything to ground.
So yea, unless the leadership turns the ship around and say "yea that was dumb, our bad," I don't see myself being in goons for very long.
If I may be melodramatic for a moment, people have always said that the only thing that can "kill goons" is a schism from within. Now I wouldn't put money on it, but you never know, this could be that divide. |

It's not much of a secret if we're already posting our plans right on both the SA forums and Goonfleet forums for all to see. The cat's out of the bag and clawing up all the furniture already. This is about being very vocal and public with our disapproval. There are no statues to shoot in nullsec, so we have to use our words. Sometimes the threat of violence alone is a deterrent. |
