Jet engines have a fantastic sound. Especially when they are starting up.

Lol Naw most people are red to us, I think we only have one Blue at the moment

The Su-27 has a very unique if not bit annoying sound.

That actually reminds me of one of the most horrible and obnoxious feelings i ever had.

It was few years ago. It was autumn. I was sending a hornet for a training shortie. At the time it was raining and i thought i was lucky to be assigned to the only hornet that was going to do a hangar start-up.
Every thing wen't fine until the compressor started to do the stall sound.
(Very loud low frequency sound that slowly starts to climb up as the engine gets more RPM)

The echo from the hangar walls must have altered the sound frequency because my heart started to resonate, it was simply the most obnoxious feeling you can ever have concentrated to your heart. In that point it felt like i wanted to puke my hear out of my ears, normally it's a very awesome sound, but that time it was just horrible. The fun part was that it did stop to the end of the stalling. It kept resonating (Not as bad though) through the whole startup (Normal start-up about 20-30 min) so i had to ask permission from my sergeant leave the hangar.

Use to live near RAF Marham, and you would get the odd tank buster fly over the village on its way to or back from the bombing range in the wash, that and Tornados, they also flew at night, with BIG search lights on that actually lit up the ground as they flew over. awesome sight.

I was so bummed out to hear that the US is retiring the A-10... here's one commencing some surprise ********* on some taliban that took cover under some branches and leaves!
