User experience may change over time.
Very true. But sometimes truth is truth.
Light speed being a limit is just as much of a mathematically proven truth as the length of the Planck Constant. It's just not going to change. These values can be different in another universe though which formed with slight differences from ours.
But that other universe is obviously prohibited to us. "He has mounted his hind-legs, and blown crass vapidities through the bowel of his neck."-á - Ambrose Bierce on Oscar Wilde's Lecture in San Francisco 1882 |

Can you give us a few examples here, beyond "Well it used to be impossible to go from NY to LA in 5 hours".
We need examples of true proven mathematics that have turned out erroneous, and radically change our understanding of how things work.
Just naysaying in a theoretical way because one wants something to be true is just as dangerous as supporting an idea, with the only reason being that one likes the idea. Surf's DayZ update!
I had my first run-in with a player, he was wearing a scary clown mask and carrying an axe... the encounter was very similar to this guy's experience in Rust.
Only difference is that in mine I was killed by the clown after I jumped over a railroad track and broke my legs

The first problem you run into is the idea of "true proven mathematics". Even in mathematics, something can seem true and then later be found to be false.
Widely accepted mathematical results, later proved wrong. -Scroll down in to the comments for a huge list
Then some fun examples:
Incorrect Scientific Theories
This list is my favorite - though perhaps not for the reason you might expect. Its because number 9 is actually WRONG. It talks about how Aristotle believed that heavier objects fell faster but Galileo came along and used experiments to show that "gravity accelerated all objects at the same rate". This much is true, but his experiments were inaccurate, as the heavier objects were in fact falling faster. Why? Air resistance. All the experiments and the math were telling them that everything fell at the same rate, but they weren't taking air resistance into account. Any skydiver today will testify to objects falling at different speeds. This is also why (I can't remember his name right now) an astronaut dropped two objects on the moon and watched as they both impacted at the same time, because it was the first time they had a zero atmosphere environment with gravity to test it (the only scenario where Galileo is correct).
Also, I am not saying that FTL is possible. I'm just not saying it is impossible either.
Oh, also an example of why scientific studies can be sooo wrong. "Shiny.-á Lets be bad guys." -Jayne Cobb |

None of these things have to do with anything that upturned and shook up our notions of mathematics and how it operates. These are all focused on specific minutea....that were only theories in the first place.
Only 2 of the 10 even involved 20th century math and science. Most are even pre-science ideas (before 1660), so there is was not any real science to disprove. Of the 2, the very originator of one of them was alive to actually call his own theory his biggest blunder.
The 2nd (cold fusion) had not been accepted even as theory before the quack released his "results". No embarrassment to science here at all.
Kryptik Kai wrote:This list is my favorite - though perhaps not for the reason you might expect. Its because number 9 is actually WRONG. Again, absolutely not one of these involves any kind of science after 1660. Nothing to disprove. Only true information to discover.
Again, most of these involve medical science, certainly a very malleable field with lots of room already for error. Medical science does not follow the same rules as mathematics with it's carefully constructed exactitude.
It's also a great demonstration of some examples of these medical guys wanting to prove specific ideas....just because they liked them.

There are a number of other reasons why Christie shouldn't be a Presidential candidate, but this is trivial. Comparing it to Watergate is the normal breathless sensationalism we get from the American press these days. Although, if their darlings had done it, we'd have gotten silence (like we're getting for Fast & Furious or Benghazi or...).

Welp, we are not debating, just discussing minutae of a particular incident.
BUT, I disagree as it is exactly like the Nixon incident. A staff, operating on it's own, lying to the boss about their activities, or not revealing to him what they did.although in reality, there is no way they could NOT have known.
The other thing that boosts this is those bridge closures caused people in emergency situations to DIE.
Not even that happened during Watergate.
BUT.....indeed it does not appear to be so all-pervading as the Watergate scandal from the standpoint of that revealing the extent to which Nixon was wiretapping and all that. Yes indeed.
But also on that point, we do not know all that has happened.....yet. They are still reviewing those 900 pages of material right now, so I'm sure more is coming up. Commissar Kate wrote:I think some the big things for new players is that Eve is too harsh, and its not twitched based. Also the skill system is different than any other game. Plus sandbox type games such as Eve are difficult for a lot of people to enjoy. The main problem with the game - CCP starts something, does a bunch of press about it, then second-guesses it, back peddles and ultimately ends up just abandoning it.
As for gaining new players and retaining existing players, CCP needs to change the game mechanics pertaining to high security and low security. There's a reason why the majority of active pilots are always in high security. That reason is Concord.
CCP is constantly trying all sorts of things to get players to go into low sec with the latest one making all high sec exploration sites available in low sec. Unfortunately a large majority of the players still will not go there. The reason being no Concord.
I think the current game mechanics and rules pertaining to high sec should be applied to low sec. Yes that also includes a Concord presence. That would definitely incite a large migration of the player base into low sec. As for high sec, just place a no-shoot game mechanic in place and remove Concord. High sec should just be an Industrial / Trade and Manufacturing sector only.
The only exception would be War Targets of course. Everything else that is currently happening in high sec would now happen in low sec, such as Concord, Crimewatch, suicide ganks, mission invasion, etc. Also high sec would only be +1.0 systems to +0.8 systems. That would reduce the amount of changes needed to be done.
All of the security agents located in the new high sec systems should be moved into the new low sec systems. Only mining and distribution agents would be left in the new high sec. All exploration sites, NPC's and Asteroid Belts would be removed from the new high sec systems. Noobie starter missions and systems would remain the same as they currently are, strictly as a learning aid for new players.
Granted there's a lot more aspects that need to be considered and worked out. I realize it would be a lot of work for CCP, moving agents, missions, Cosmos complexes, etc, but you gotta admit it sure would make the empty low sec systems in-game a lot more active.
Now about the topic of Alien life located elsewhere in the universe, I think it's highly probable with a very high chance of it being true.
Have they visited us here on Earth? More than likely purely for scientific study.

No thanks. EVE doesn't need to 'expand' itself by further catering to the risk averse and pampering them with an absolute no-shoot zone, nor do they need to destroy the unique situation that lowsec enjoys. All that would be accomplished is to destroy a single playstyle. High sec miners and mission runners already do not fully utilize the PVE space available to them, which is glaring considering how many of them are crammed in up there. Most of that is due to CCP's continued unwillingness and/or inability to revisit the missions, rewards, LP, and standings systems that make up the heart of PVE play. Destroying lowsec in an attempt to provide more grazing room for mission farmers does not solve the core issue that EVE's PVE system, the system that is responsible for the entertainment and retention of many high sec players, leaves quite a lot to be desired.
